Been heavy front squatting for 10 years now! Best front squat is 480lb @195! I thought I was the only one who was this proud and happy about front squats haha! I really do fucking love them!! I wish it was a strongman event or a competition within itself!!! Dope content bro! Just found your channel, keep it up

I totally agree with you. I really think these may be the single best lift for developing strength and general athleticism. I did them for about 6 months and nothing else, my deadlift blew up and I never trained it. Additionally, my vertical increased, and I ran faster. These, the olympic lifts, and high bar back squats are crazy, but I think the front squat may actually be the best at developing all those qualities in unison. I've never seen one lift carry over so much not only to other lifts, but to other athletic tasks.

dude i just started doing front squats again for the first time in years and i cant believe how hard they are on the upper back. for me its like the legs dont even factor in, thats how far my back is lagging haha
I also find they translate incredibly well to the deadlift because they work the upper back so much. and maybe even better than the back squat for some people, like me, based on their weaknesses

    • @divicospower9112

It helps the deadlift too because you make your quads stronger and they are involved in the deadlift.

I'm really hip dominant in my back squats so front squats really help me to fatigue my quads.

My squat max is 200kg but its ugly, bar path sucks and yeah my upper back and core give out. Ive implemented front squats in my latest training cycle and hopefully they provide some good gains. Ive got long ass femurs and have only ever worked up to 90kg on FS for sets of 8 in the past (which were maximal) so I felt it when you talked about that strength disparity in some people.
I really want to push RDLs but they really irritate this mysterious hip problem i have that i really need to get checked out. My deadlift is 260/275kg on conv and sumo respectively but i struggle with 140kg for sets of 8 on RDL, I wish I could train it without pain.

I started getting really bad upper back pain between my shoulder blades back squatting so I tried front squats a couple weeks ago and there's no pain so I've been doing them exclusively and that was a massive piece of humble pie. They are definitely NOT easy

Would you say its reasonable to say that your back squat will go up with your front squat by only ever doing fromt squat? Seems like the biggest bang for your buck and carries over better to deadlifts too

  • @mastertrey4683

Light front squats are an S tier quad builder. At least 12 reps, the heavier you go the more you get limited by your trunk, the lighter you go the more you get limited by your quads. But its not like a back squat. Back squat you don’t really feel it all in your quads. Front squat is way more quads than glutes specially if you focus on staying upright

Shrug up slightly, protract the shoulders hard as hell, grip with two fingers, and mobilize shoulder external rotation. The key is deep protraction of the shoulders. We have videos on this but there’s also tons of free ones on UA-cam too

I actually misspoke out of haste, they were 31, I’ve measured this though in front of Andrew and Kristin. Somehow Andrew has 29s and his look way bigger than mine. Currently mine are way smaller. That was when I weighed 226. I’m at 212 right now and I haven’t measured but if I guessed I’d say 29-30. I have crazy vastus lateralis attachments that flare out like crazy. I’ll do a measurement video soon.

Gear as in knee sleeves and belts. You gotta research some more about the sport of powerlifting. It seems all you do is provide X,Y and Z excuses as to why you’re not stronger. I achieved a 1700lb total natty and then hopped on. I’ve posted bloods before and after. I actually was lb for lb stronger off of gear, you can check this in open powerlifting’s database. But let me guess, you have some piss poor total because genetics, steroids, and knee sleeve excuses right? People like you are insufferable
