I enjoyed this video from Long Beach CA, I love how you grow and the corn looks yummy, thank you for sharing how to grow green onions, I don't have much yard space and I can do it this way, thanks for sharing!!
I grow my green onions in water in a plastic up in my kitchen, great idea with the water bottle I think I'll transfer them into to, thanks for the idea.
Hmm this would work well for my garlic chives that I grow as well as a few other herb’s that I like to use in cooking all the time best of all it would make it so much easier at harvesting them, same with spring onions as it’s the leaves I like the most, the draw back in using shallots is that it’s the bulbs you eat as they multiply in the same way as garlic bulbs so they will end up filling that bottle container up with their bulbs. Love the idea that is for sure🤗🤗
As it's a recycled disposable water bottle, it's not UV resistant and the plastic would deteriorate after several months. This is possibly around the time you'd harvest your shallots or garlic anyway. Which means, yes you'd have to start again with a new bottle but after months of using the green shoots, you've got your bonus bulbs. I really like your idea of using shallots and garlic for the ongoing greens harvest. The additional win is recycling a single use plastic. I was also considering using a strawberry pot, which would allow harvest of the bulbs as you needed them.
@@speedofdark1 nice idea I am only just learning that the green shoots from all onions are edible which is a really good as they can be used in me stews but it also means I can place them in my dehighdrater (sorry can not spell the word) I need to re sort my veggie boxes as it’s time to cycle out the older veggies my silver beet is now 4 years old and it’s just too wild to use and too tall😹my green peppers can be moved (capsicums) as they will give be at least another 3-4 years of veggies from them. The beauty of not living in an area that gets snow means my veggies last for many years before I have to replace them.
Wow, it's great that from used materials it can be used as a means of planting shallots, reducing plastic waste. Very good. Thank you for sharing knowledge.
The way you farm is ingenious, but the careful way you handle the soil and spring onions tells us a lot about who you are. Please, how long does this system last with the same onions? Is it necessary to dismantle the pot and replant?
@@Stephaniemariek.it looks like garlic because the seedlings are grown pretty tightly together which gives them that weird shape. Then they are dug up separated and sold to the stores. You can grow garlic chives the same way. Cut them and they will keep coming back as well

you can only harvest the leaves with this method, it's too dense for it to grow bulbs to be harvested
