    Wow, the Primitive Hare piece is amazing. The back is as amazing as the front. See if you can find one of those old-fashioned round frames in a thrift store. It might cost a bit, but she's worth a place of pride in your house. You can tell people it's your great great great grandmother.😉

    Oh also my friend Melissa taught me a trick for finding oval/circle frames because you’re right - they’re really hard to find! She looks for mirrors - they’re usually oval and they can be pretty ornate. Carefully remove the backing and the mirror glass and you basically have a “regular” frame leftover!

    Omw I LOVE BREAKIN 2 Electric Boogaloo. I grew up in So Cal as an 80's high schooler. We used to have break dancing "fights" at our high school dances early on. Ozone and Turbo both used to come play racquetball at the park behind my high school when we were at softball practice after school.....thank you for the outloud OMG and chuckle at work!!! I always wanted to headspin..... I had the tail, the 2-tone grey Nike jacket.....and wore the black karate shoes....only thing I never had was the parachute pants. Thank you for sharing.
    I never knew following something up with Electric Boogaloo meant it should never have been made....lol

      Oh. My. Goodness! The karate shoes!!!! I absolutely had those and totally forgot! I’m not sure I had parachute pants - but I for sure had an amazing pair of MC Hammer pants that were my favorite. We are so lucky to have survived that time! I never did a head spin but did do a back spin and the truth is there is no trick - it just hurts 😂! Thank you so much for watching and commenting - it brought back so many fun memories!

    I agree with flat folds for some of your projects and try thrift stores for frames. Don't be intimidated to try framing yourself. Some foamcore, tacky glue and patience is all you need. And don't worry about perfection! Its for you in your home and the pleasure in looking at your things outweighs perfection .

    • @kbhstitches
      @kbhstitches  Рік тому

      Thank you so much for the advice! Can I ask a question about foamcore? Do you buy it already cut or use something to cut it correctly? I feel like I know enough to stretch and lace - or tape or glue or whatever - but I’m stuck on how to get straight edges on whatever I need to wrap it around. Does that make any sense at all?

    • @BethJedrzejewski-ue9gs
      @BethJedrzejewski-ue9gs 11 місяців тому

      so sorry I didn't respond more quickly, Real Life cut into my floss tubing time this month! To cut my foam core I use a retractable blade utility knife. I think sometimes they are called box cutters also. And a straight edge. I use a piece of cardboard underneath to protect my table. Stand at the table and focus. You need to hold the straight edge FIRMLY along your line. It might take two passes and a new sharp blade is your best move. 😀

    I really enjoyed your video... love all your finishes... I suggest you watch for Michael's sale on custom framing...you can save 55%... I take one or two pieces only when they have a sale...I'm a 'process' stitcher but I do enjoy seeing my finished pieces hung....I have one wall dedicated to hanging all... then move them around to a few spots in house seasonally... you are worth it! Don't forget to stitch in your name & date...I've 'saved the stitches' a few times & wish the stitcher had stitched in name & date.

    Just found you today and enjoyed every minute. I look forward to seeing more of what you will be up to. As far as how to finish those beautiful pieces of yours, I am new to stitching, so I have only finished one, and that was a stand-up. But I do know that you can get material for framing that you would buy a set of 2 pieces for the sides and a different set of 2 pieces for the top and bottom. Then, you would snap them together to form your frame. They are made of wood, so you can paint or stain them if you want. I think this is much less expensive than custom framing. Hope this helps. Because your work is just too beautiful not to be seen.

    Maybe with Pumpkin Thieves you could venture into a simple wall hanging!? You could buy Mini Charm squares with halloween fabric to sew around the perimeter, then follow the pillow method for a flat finish to hang. Just an idea :) I don't know how the month got away from but I was also thinking about October SAL and wondering if it would happen this year. I'm down either way! We all do need a pick me up once it a while - it was very kind and continuous to make me feel special! I hasn’t thought of different frames items - or maybe a tray??? - thank you so much for the suggestion!

    Have you thought about doing drums for the longer narrow pieces. The prairie school village and the cooking chicken could possibly be really cute drums. Just thoughts. 😁

      I have! I think I’m going to try it in Pumpkins Thieves. If I’m successful I think the harvest time would be really good too! I’m so excited by everyone’s suggestions! Thank you so much.

    I'm very late, but I just found your video and I have a few thoughts....😂
    1. Cool shirt. We're original star wars fans too. 2. You have really cool projects and several that I haven't seen. 3. If you haven't already decided on some finishes...I have seen finishes that are flat-lays I think they call them... mounted on like a mat board with a stand of some sort so it stands up, but it's not in a frame

      But I also thought some of them might make fun bags... like a mini project bag idea too keep the little notions in inside a bigger bag... like the cute cat one,
      So fun, great projects and I hope you've had great stitching in the meantime.

      It was fun to go back and see which shirt I was wearing 😂. My son is a big star wars fan so he picked that one for me! I have actually now fully finished a lot of those wips - but someone else also mention a project bag for the cat piece so I need to look into finding someone who might be able to help with that! Thank you so much for watching and commenting - it means so much!

    I just ran across your Flosstube today! Especially liked your Peacock, Unicorn & Badger, and Harvest Time. I would like to know what background color you are using for PU&C. I'm thinking of trying to find a fabric that would work so I don't have to stitch it all. Yours is so beautiful!

      Of course! It is DMC 936 and if you have Instagram, julie_in_stitches_16 is starting hers on a green fabric. So that might be a good place to start! Thank you so much for watching!

    You could put your finished pieces in a book like scrapbooking

    For your unframed pieces, you could simply stretch, pin and lace your piece to either foam core board or mounting board. The. You can adhere fabric to another board about 1” larger than your mounted stitching using spray adhesive - spray board then place board onto ironed fabric on a table. Then mount your stitched piece to the backing board using either double sided tape or Aileen’s Tacky Glue. You can then add a loop of ribbon or cording to the center or sides and simply pin the ends into place. This will at least get your stitched piece on display😊. If you’d like to see pictures of this type of finish I can send some to you 😊

      I love this - back ally a wall hanging without any sewing! I found a wooden sled that I’m going to attempt to put the Prairie Schooler on - so fingers crossed! Thank you so much for watching and for the great suggestion!

    I often check out thrift stores for frames. Sometimes they need to be painted to get them to the color you're looking for. Stephine Webb with Lindy Stitches has a great tutorial on how to lace a piece for framing. You have some really nice pieces , it would be nice if they could be displayed for others to enjoy.

      I’ll have to find that video - I learned how to add the chenille to my pillows from her video! Thank you for the reminder to look in the unexpected and maybe I’ll just find something! Thank you for watching as well. I truly appreciate it.
