Have a bootleg of CCR playing at the Filmore West in 1970, Before they play this song John says to the crowd, "This song is dedicated to all the bands that never made it" so true. Alway loved this song more than Bad Moon Rising..
That's the magical thing about music; it elicits a range of emotions and gives infinite meanings to the ears it falls upon. Arthur F., I should think Fogerty would appreciate your beautiful association with Lodi.
Great song played often as i went through medical training at Ft. Sam Houston Tx, [ Combat Medic. Surgical Tech and OJT Op Rm, ,] during the war.. Things were to get nasty as meat ball surgery is not for the faint of heart......I thank all those who served ! My son lived in Lodi, and I fell in love with the area. Something about the fact that it's urban, but just drive 5 minutes and you're in grape country.
hello 1984 i worked for a moving company so we had a move from san jose ca to lodi ca well we arived ass planned but at the place to unload nobody there so calling at the pay phone 1 mile away hello so the answer was you guys 1 day early o no the deal whas deliver today so the owner said i am sorry but i can let you guys in because i am still in la so the only thing we could do is find a motel and deliver next day so lodi stocking in lodi was real then
John brilliantly uses Lodi, a real town, as a metaphor for being “stuck” in his career and getting nowhere in terms of accomplishing his career goals of being successful, etc. Brilliant writing.
Haha, if you want an armpit town, try visiting Lodi OHIO. Besides being a small town with nothing happening - which is not a sin - one of the city services building has a bunch of historical photos, including Klan photos. At least it was the case a decade ago; I hope they've gotten something like civilized since then.

Just about a year ago
I set out on the road
Seekin' my fame and fortune
Lookin' for a pot of gold
Things got bad and things got worse
I guess you will know the tune
Oh Lord, stuck in Lodi again
Rode in on the Greyhound
I'll be walkin' out if I go
I was just passin' through
Must be seven months or more
Ran out of time and money
Looks like they took my friends
Oh Lord, I'm stuck in Lodi again
The man from the magazine
Said I was on my way
Somewhere I lost connections
I ran out of songs to play
I came into town, a one night stand
Looks like my plans fell through
Oh Lord, stuck in Lodi again
If I only had a dollar
For ev'ry song I've sung
Ev'ry time I've had to play
While people sat there drunk
You know, I'd catch the next train
Back to where I live
Oh Lord, I'm stuck in Lodi again
Oh Lord, I'm stuck in Lodi again

Brilliant! In my mind's eye, this is EXACTLY what I thought this video should have looked like 5 decades ago when this song first came out.

Essa música parece minha vida .
It's very silly, isn't it? You could literally walk out of Lodi to the next city if you wanted to. It makes the song even better.

I lived in Lodi and it is boring. I moved back to Stockton.
So it’s the Lodi near Stockton they’re singing about?
@@jamesdowd8354No !!! Es Lodi California , donde John se inspiró para componer la canción( la rosita ) de Lodi California 😊
