You are in a ton of households, and we build a sort of bond with you through your channel. You get us through some of our own tough times, too.
Without ever meeting most of us, we call you friend, because we love who you present to be and what you do... right in our homes.
You and I have so many near misses, my best friend has played with a good friend of yours (20 Watt Tombstone and Tyler Bryant).
I talk a lot about you, your music, and your videos with MY friends that are musicians... kind of a virtual family thing going on.

I’ve actually been tossing around the idea of creating an all analog recording studio for awhile. That Tascam 388 is a nice piece, Yamaha made some great stuff from that same era as well.

Happy New Year! What a great message. Very timely for me as I endure burnout from a 39-year ProAV career and yearn to get back to creative endeavors. I look forward to your new series. When I first discovered music as a pre-teen, I gravitated towards live recordings which sounded more real and less polished than studio stuff. Be well in the new year.

This is already the most exciting news for 2024. I became musically aware in the 1970's and always preferred live albums to studio ones. For some bands the only albums I own are the live ones. To hear a musician not just making room for live unedited performance but relishing it and recognising the magic that can happen when great musicians interact is such a breath of fresh air. I can hardly wait.
And I am definitely taking on board the "start where you" idea. I am putting together a workshop to build guitars. I don't have a workbench so I am using an old desk. I don't have a vice so I am working with clamps and wedges. With these I can make some of the things I need to make guitars. This is where I am so this is where I am starting.
This is awesome. Enjoy the journey
i'm 56 y/o also now just a beginner guitar student.
I imagine that you will be doing electric guitar repair and disassemble more than actual making a guitar.
Just basic re-string & fine tuning, is hard enough maintenance wise.

@missingremote4388 I am 59 and also just beginning. Fortunately I will not need to make a living out of this so any income will be reinvested and I can be somewhat self indulgent. But I may see if I can make and sell some chopping boards, just to be able to make more guitars....
Recently i wanted to do a parts caster or frankenstein type guitar. But decided against it. I have one already...1994 stratocaster & a real LesPaul (studio)
I researched new / used parts on ebay for days.
Everyone is asking too much. Example: for a fender body only the price = same as a new complete guitar

Happy New Year Rhett! I’m excited to hear about this new endeavor and can’t wait to see your collaboration with Dylan. Your recognition of burnout and the resulting plan to address it seems healthy to me. Ten years ago I crashed into depression and PTSD (military stuff). Thanks to good friends, family, and healthcare I was able to climb out of it. I have a great life and am grateful every day for what I have. Take care of yourself and your loved ones and the rest will fall into place.

Big ups for being transparent 🙌🏼 As a neurodivergent myself, i know burnout all too well, and also how hard it can be to get through. For the past three years i've had this belief that if i could just get rid of my 9-5 and do music full time, then periods of burnout would be behind me.
This video just proves that no matter how awesome the job/life may be, you still have to lookout for yourself, or else it will get the best of you, and in the end you will hate the thing you used to love because you forced yourself to continue.
Thanks for the reminder, and thank you for showing another side of life as a creative professional. Happy to see that you're dealing with it in a healthy manner.

"Live To Tape" is, in my opinion the best idea you've had for a series of videos. Recording a band live in the studio is an honest representation of where the players are at. I usually prefer the results over a multi-tracked recording where players have taken several tries or comped together a part from several different takes. So many of my favourite recordings have been recorded live in the studio. The communication between the musicians can't be beat! Looking forward to your "Live To Tape" series!!! Happy New Year
