I have the full ti Redencion 229 3.6” drop point in hand rubbed satin. Locks up like a bank vault. Hearing that loud THWACK on deployment imparts a confidence inspiring and unmistakable quality of absolute solidity. I literally can’t imagine a task for which a folding knife is the appropriate tool that the Chaves would not make quick and easy work of. There is no mistaking that this knife is a performer, first and foremost.
What angle did you sharpen to? I have an Ultramar 229 Redencion and a Worksharp Precision Adjust Elite.
These are both perfect looking pocket knives.

I just gave $344 for my micarta from blade hq so they have definitely went up over the past couple years

Don't own one yet but based on your review I would go with the G10 version. The 229 was going to be my next purchase but I may wait awhile to see if it's released in G10, I like users!

Ramon Chaves’ full production knives are made by Reate, which is an OEM based in China known throughout the knife industry for their extremely high quality manufacturing. Ramon’s full handmade customs are certainly rarer and more expensive/exclusive knives than their production, Reate made counterparts. But if by “stand up to the original” you are talking about how the knives perform compared to one another, the knives made in China by Reate are actually superior in every way to the full customs. They have better, more functional and consistent blade grinds, are thinner behind the edge, are made from a more premium steel, and have superior fit and finish in most cases as well. So yes, in that sense they more than “stand up to the original”.
