6 Months Later: Tempur-pedic ProAdapt Medium Hybrid- Is it BIG BOY friendly?

- Tempur-pedic ProAdapt Medium Hybrid mattress (CalKing) after 6 months. If you're a larger person, is this the right mattress for you? My quick review.
Thanks for the reviews. I wish UA-cam's algorithms didn't discriminate against smaller, nonprofessional channels. I get tired of the "polished" reviews with their studio quality production values. There are a couple in the mattress field that are worth watching because they claim to be giving objective test results. But really, I just want to know what a real user thinks of if. Yours is the first one in weeks to show up in me search results.
But then, most little channels don't every follow up a year later!
Thanks for the review.
FYI - the little plastic things were from the 15 year old mattress cover we were using.. NOT the mattress.
😄Thank you for clarifying this!
Can you Pin this comment so it stays at the top? Thanks from future everyone else.
Thanks for update. You rock! Sorry about the cover.
Thank you for the reviews! My husband and I just bought this bed and it’s nice to hear an honest review of it. Ps - I’m glad it was the mattress cover you were using and not the bed itself.
First impression on the video I was assuming it wasn't going to be good but was actually enjoyable. Like hearing some feedback and more just honest opinion rather than the other videos I've seen where people are fluffing their videos up.
Thanks Michael!. I'm not trying to make any $$ here or promote anything, just a retired older guy trying to keep busy and help 1 or 2 people.. If I did that, mission accomplished.
Thanks for the update
Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It's so helpful coming from another customer.
i realize it is kinda off topic but do anybody know of a good site to stream new movies online ?
@Deacon Darwin Flixportal xD
@Dash Phillip thank you, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I really appreciate it!
@Deacon Darwin no problem xD
I just finished my trial period for the Pro Adapt hybrid medium.. I returned a soft and medium Wink hybrid before trying this one. I had a lot of back pain with them. The very first night on this my back pain was gone between the shoulders and significantly better in the sciatic region. I did purchase the adjustable Sealy frame also. I can’t say for sure which is helping the most, but I am definitely keeping this one. I sleep in the antigravity position and rarely awake in the night anymore. Love this bed. I am 5’6” and over 200#. I sleep alone.
Hi. You say that you returned a medium hybrid because of the back pain. But you you also say that your back pain between the shoulders was gone when you tried the Pro Adapt hybrid medium. It sounds like you tried 2 medium hybrids. You kept one and you returned one. Which medium hybrid did you return? Was it a Pro Adapt hybrid medium?
I returned a medium and a firm Wink Hybrid. My Tempurpedic is still doing well for me. I had a knee replacement back in May and with the adjustable frame, I was able to sleep with my leg elevated. I am still sleeping well, back pain is better but not gone.
Great video.
Thanks for the review. Much appreciated. I’m a big (6-4”) husky boy as well with a bad back. Very encouraging to hear it’s wearing well for you. As I understand it the Pro model has the cooling topper. As something of a hot sleeper, I’m hoping it will be true to it’s name. My wife, however, is tiny and weighs less than 110 - the opposite of your husband. Think she’ll have any problems with it?
She will most likely think the mattress is too firm. Rotate it each month so you can break her side in quicker.
@@tomdac Thanks so much. Good advice. Did you guys get the medium or firm? Any advice there?
@@meatus3535
There is no firm hybrid.. just medium.
@@tomdac Thank you.
It’s what you call piling orthat particular cover has a phase change cooling treatment. The newer ones have a super thin yarn for the cooling and other foams.
I love mine too. Been on it about 6 years. Still sleeps great every night
Thanks Raymond.. The new models like my ProAdapt don't use the phase change cooling.

Any follow up on this mattress now 3yrs later? Thanks again for the honest review!
Still loving it!!!
Hello;)
Could you do a current review of this mattress and share your thoughts on it?
I’d like to see how after a year it’s held up and what happened to the cover?
Thank you 🙏
Still loving the mattress.. Has not lost any shape or form at all.. the little plastic things were from the 15 year old mattress cover we were using.. NOT the mattress.
Thanks for the non biased input in the original and follow up vids. I’m 5’11/250 and I’m looking to change to a memory foam. Why did you choose the Pro Adapt Hybrid over the Pro Adapt?
We were in lockdown, so I couldn't go into any stores to check them out.. I spent hours reading reviews and watching videos of the different models. I bought the Hybrid sight-unseen and crossed my fingers that it would be OK. I figured if we didn't like it, we could exchange it for a different model, which I believe Tempurpedic lets you do for a nominal restocking fee. Several reviews said if you're a larger person, go for the hybrid, so I went with it.
@@tomdac Thanks so much for the reply and info!
Also I think the hybrid has pocketed springs in one layer for extra support. We are looking into one as well.
@@KrakenRob yes. That’s what the “hybrid” means.
@@tomdac I pulled the trigger tonight! Fingers crossed 🤞🏼. I don’t get a second chance because i exchanged a new Stearns & Foster mattress I hated and upgraded to this mattress. 🙂
Just bought the same model as you and finding it hard as hell.
it softens up with time.
Do you rotate the mattress at all?
I have the same Tempure, 2 months. Both my wife and I feel we are getting some lower back soreness now. The bed has softened up significantly since new. Maybe its not an even break in between feet, legs and waist?
Did you have an adjustment period where your lower back was affected?
I mentioned rotating it twice in the video. Neither of us had any issues with back soreness ... it was the opposite.
@@tomdac thanks for the reply. Take care!
Maybe the type of soap fab softer ect ? Or harder water ? Hopebu get it solved I love mine I got it with ajustable base I just wish I got the split bed ajustable instead
just bought one, myself I got the luna bed protector too, hopefully I dont get those white bead things!
The Tempur ones are well made. I never heard of a Luna but a water proof protector
Went and bought s Pro Adapt Medium today. Salesman was trying to convince to get the firm and not medium because I'm a bigger guy. But the firm felt like a mat on the ground. Really hard. I have 4 months to change my mind atleast.
Thanks for a good review. I was curious how the medium held up over time
Still loving it!
luex adapt firm is the best on the market.
hi i walked into 2 local mattress firm store. and both sales highly recommended the proadapt firm, do they get better commission from the firm or they have lots firms in stock.
@@daviddave8266 what’s difference between pro and luxe firm? thanks
@@appleapple6464 luxe has better support firm call customer service or look it up online
Hey I just got this mattress and Im waking up with back pain! Is this normal or did you love it right from the beginning??
I know some people mention break-in time thats why
It was way too firm for me when we first got it.. I debated on sending it back and getting a softer one, but it softened up nicely in a couple of weeks.. you can walk on it and help the speed up the break in process.
Hi, We are a same sex couple too- my husband is 255lb and Im 185lbs. Hows the motion transfer in this mattress? My husband has all sorts of twitching at night and that tends to bother me. I would have gone for the non hybrid version but he prefers the hybrid version. My main concern is the motion transfer (me getting bothered while he moves) in this hybrid mattress.
There is NO motion transfer at all. NONE. It's a California King, though, so there is room between us (for the dog!).
@@tomdac Thanks! We are in Boston, MA and bought a Beautyrest Black mattress for $3700. Its supposedly has low motion transfer. We used it for 5 years and noticed a lot of bunching and stitching coming undone so the warranty covered an exchange. New one had the same problem only 2 months into use! So we are now considering the Tempurpedic ProAdapt hybrid. Hopefully this turns out well...
Do you feel this bed is hot, or is it fairly cooling?
NOT hot.
Thanks for the input just got ours in Soft and it’s rock hard ?
it will soften.
Got an adapt medium hybrid and on the trial phase (less than 30 days) I'm finding it too soft. I'm sinking a bit, especially the hips area. Should I go with an adapt medium (non hybrid) or a firm? As a side sleeper I'm a tad scared to go straight to a firm, but do think it maybe what Im looking for. Im 230lbs btw and using a full size.
I'm 300lb and got the medium today. The firm was okay, but not comfortable. I felt over time I would get used to it though.and it would break in. I will try the medium a few months. Testing it out at the store it felt just right, but I'm worried it may become too soft over time and maybe the firm is the way to go.
@@savans4734 Same here. It's not bad, but I fear it may get too soft in the future. I just found out there is no firmer option on the adapt series, so I guess that settles it for me as the pro adapt is above my budget.
@@Shadow__133 well at very least you'll know for sure down the road if you should get a firm of whatever series they have in the future. You can throw your current medium in a guest bed or gift to family 😆
@@savans4734 Oh no, I don't have that level of affluence $$$... the road ends at this mattress for me. I still have 3 months to exchange it if I want. But then it's final. I'm afraid to change it for a concrete pad and regret forever lol
@@Shadow__133 let me know what you decide, my adapt pro medium arrives in 2days
Do you happen to know how to remove the white cover?
Yea. It just unzips.
How is the bed 3 years later? I just got one and hoping it holds up for a long time
Still love it. Doesn’t seem to have any wear or tear at all.
I have the same one are you hearing any crunching?
No
Yes, I have proadapt medium hybrid and when getting out of bed, the coils/springs appear to catch making noise when they release.
Only crunching going on is inside of his back.
It’s the chemical smell from these mattresses my body can’t deal with it. Migraines galore 😫
