There are too many to choose from. But my top three have to be the Vaughn brothers. I also like Gary Moore. His tone was fierce. His method of combining rock and blues really stood out to me. His parts on Stormy Monday with Albert King!!! Amazing!!

A dear friend of mine, Harry Hess, was the pedal steel and rhythm guitar player for Doug Sahm and Sir Douglas Quintet (or Texas Tornados) when they were playing out of Austin, Texas in the mid-70s. I took guitar lessons from Harry many years later when he moved into his parents home located in Pennsylvania to care take for his parents. Anyhow, Harry told me how everyone in Austin loved to play with Jimmy because he, unlike his brother Stevie, knew how to play with other musicians, a keyboardist, and a horn section. Stevie would always dominate the stage no matter who he played with due to his incredible individual talent. Thank you for the video. RIP Harry.

I really love Jimmy, hes not flashy and plays rather clean, OG traditional so it seems like he isnt complicated but its REALLY hard, he never plays a sour note its always the right lick the right notes at the right time. He was never in competition with his brother. He did his thing His way. I love his playing. Its so tasty.

TomoFujita this is such a great video! I have always felt exactly the same way about Jimmie’s playing, especially on the very early T-Birds recordings. I saw the T-Birds open for SRV in the late-mid 1980s and was blown away! Extra Jimmies was probably the to tune that hooked me, but all his playing was/is incredible. When I have spoken with JLV a few times over the last few decades, he is always kind and humble. His playing style has evolved and changed significantly to my ear since this early days, but his band is still so tight, and just a pleasure to hear! His tone on Roll Roll Roll still gives me chills! I remember I traded a guitar for some cash and 10 guitar lessons from the best blues player I knew in Maine, back in about 1986, (thanks again Michael H.!) and all I wanted to learn was Jimmie Vaughan’s style. Thanks again, Tomo, for this video!

Tomo, this is something that I learned from you. Pick a single phrase. Make a simple backing loop and repeat the phrase over and over until you can do it smoothly. Get to know the notes, the timing and the feel. I also experiment with different notes and so on. For me, this is really working. I sometimes don't even complete the whole song. Instead, I move to another phrase that I like.

I came across Jimmie Vaughan before his more famous brother when I bought the Fabulous Thunderbirds first album. That and the 2nd album are fantastic , gritty blues, and Vaughan's playing was never better. Almost the opposite of Stevie Ray Vaughan's guitar pyrotechnics, Jimmie Vaughan is quite minimal and I've never heard anybody play behind the beat quite so much.. I spent a lot of time trying to copy his style in my youth..technically not difficult but to get the same feel and tone is.

Tone Taste and Space telling a story capturing the emotion of the human voice. It may sound simple until you try it next to impossible to capture that feel the economy of note choice, also Jimmie Vaughn has better time than many drummers and not to mention an exceptional rhythm player. Strat, middle pickup, super reverb that’s all you need. Also fellow Texan Anson Funderburgh falls into this deep vibe it’s not how many notes you play you have to feel the music.

Hi Mr. Fujita! like watching your videos. I never learned how to play any instrument let alone a guitar but watching your videos atleast makes me feel like I'm learning how to play and I thank you for that. Also, since you like taking up music requests, here's a challenge: how about explaining David Gilmour's sound in how many levels you want. My dad really likes pink floyd and he always says that Gilmour just sounds different, me being a millennial, does not know what he is taking about.

で,Freddie King, BB King...
