Dear Parker Quartet, You have given my computer a reason for living, other than doing my work. Your interpretations are a gift from the universe to all of its lucky inhabitants! Thank you. Lilian Duval, who loves chamber music
Debussy's compositional mastery of the string quartet is clearly evident with this, his one and only composition for string quartet. I have always wanted to know, then, why he never wrote another. I have been listening to this quartet since I was a teenager (now 66), and I am forever struck by Debussy's masterful blending of these 4 instruments. The technical complexities of the first, second, and fourth movements would, with many composers, just be technical. But with Debussy, each note is lyrically perfectly blended with all the others. And the sublime and haunting beauty of the third movement is just beyond description. Of course, equal praise belongs to this Parker Quartet for expressing this piece to its absolute best. I can not imagine that Debussy would have wanted to change a single note. Thank you, Parker String Quartet, for this masterful and beautiful performance!
First I met maestro Hamao just for luck, listening one of my favorite concerts, Bach's oboe/violin double. Never heard that beautiful sound in Bach before. His violin was increible. Then I realized there's the Parker Quartet. I love their quality, simply great. This masterpiece is performed just like if it was composed for them, with energy, delicacy, natural as to breath.
