Thanks for this, worked for us. Our problems started when the kids left one of the doors open over night, car battery drained, jump started (even though I think we weren't supposed to) would be dead every morning. Changed 12v battery now it's ok if drive atleast every other day, if left any longer than that needs jump starting. Was away for a week and fully expected it to need a jump start when I got back, started up ok w/o jump but had this error. Tried what you said and it worked. Let's hope it lasts, tried it last night and started up fine this morning dropping the kids off to school. Thank you very much for sharing.
I think this could be due to the 12v battery not having enough charge to successfully Start up the HV battery brain which causes the HV battery system to fail (Also potentially why your engine management light is on.) I've found if you fire it up and give it a rev literally just after you've turned the ignition, it seems to start charging
So my 2011 CRZ had the same lights on. Even the check engine light. It was not the IMA system so to speak, but it was the battery packs cooling fan in the right side rear . I put a new 1 in and no more check eng. IMA, battery voltage lights. Your batteries are getting 🔥
Bro Thanks for the video! After the IMA light turned on, I feel some lags with transmission system while driving. Is that normal in this issue? Why It effects to transmission system?
Well headed outside to give this a try. I also had both brake lights come on as well the last time this happened. I'd stopped on a rutted uphill driveway (mine) to get the mail. Wouldn't restart, turned the key off for 3 seconds tried again keeping the key pushed to start and a very weak and rough start initiated and I limped it home. Really disappointed because I bought it with 114,000 miles and the dealership said that ALL batteries were replaced. I've only put 10,000 miles on it and loved the car, like a little go-kart I'd never had as a kid (I'm an old kid now). Wishing I'd not gotten a hybrid at this point. I like simple, economical and reliable. My son put 587,000+ miles on a standard transmission CIvic and then sold it for $700... I was hoping for something closer to that. :/ Any thoughts on the dual brake lights? Possibly something in the regenerative braking department?
I feel it. I made a vow to never own a hybrid again after that one when I sold it. To be fair with you I didn't mess with the hybrid stuff much at all because it always pissed me off. So I have no real suggestions for you. I'd just do what I did. Sell the hybrid and get a regular gas civic.
Update: Will make the long story shorter... Took the car into a dealership. A week later it was repaired. What they found was a toasted fuse block assembly for the fan blower motor for the hybrid battery bank. However the diagnosis to get that took them a solid 6 hours with an extremely good Master Tech and Honda Tech Support and they weren't sure if the fix would work. I paid them $686.00 and change and was out the door. I wasn't pleased and who would be with a car that had 125,000 miles on it, but onward. Bought new tires for it instead of selling it, took it on a 5,000+ mile road trip across the northern part of the USA, home again, through a few blizzards, etc. and all is working to absolute perfection. However... I noted something: Right before the new tires I had a flat, in fact the day I had the appointment for my new Yokohama Avid Ascend tires (which transformed the vehicle by the way, 10 db quieter in the cabin, smoother ride, far quieter and lovely in snow) I walked out to a flat tire. So I went in the trunk and found the spare floating in 6" of water in the wheel recess below the floor mat. Why do I mention this? Well because the leak may have caused this problem in the first place. An accumulation of pine and larch needles (I live in the forests of NW Montana) caused the water to dam up on the top of the trunk lid during heavy rains, causing the water to flow into the trunk and I think possibly into the battery region as well. Possible? I think quite possible. But regardless, since those parts have been repaired, the auto has been running flawlessly and I think that putting this information out there might help someone one day. I've decided to keep it. I averaged 38 mpg on the trip, which is impressive given the headwinds across ND and eastern MT and the speed limits being 80 mph on the Interstate system. Locally I'm getting between 38 and 42 mpg and at $3.50 a gallon, will keep this little beast running as long as possible. When the snow gets too deep, I'll take the H3 Hummer out with all wheel drive and studded snows, but until then the little Civic gets the nod. Good motoring to all of you! Stay aware and stay happy! My total investment is under $6,300 and the car is in fair condition give or take a bit of hail/door dings. Given what the new stuff costs, I'm content with this.
Wow, I’m just in the process of pulling out the back seat in mine and I xport hay in the back seat…just pulling it back a little I stuck my hand in and UGH, it’s ALL et behind the seat, no idea why yet! P1575 P1570 P0a7f Codes show in honda civic hybrid 2009. Lights while driving. Please help and guide. What problems and repair costs ? Ima check engine and battery lights i have mention codes. 100k miles driven.
To be honest I would probably opt for a Prius only because they’re known to last longer. I have no real experience or knowledge with the Toyota hybrids but if you’re concerned with it I would stick with a regular civic or Corolla.
The problem is hybrid battery pack failure. It's very common in these cars. Usually you'll have your ima and check engine light on. It's a 1200 to 1500 dollar repair if you get a refurb pack. If you get a new hybrid battery from honda you're looking at 3000 dollars plus.
It could be any code from any system. Could be an engine issue. Could be a sensor. Could be ima battery. Could be transmission, could be anything. They have OBDII readers for that reason.
The hybrids don’t have an alternator they charge the 12v batteries via the IMA system and if that starts to fail then it won’t charge the battery efficiently or at all which leads to battery drain.
This trick only works temporarily though, the ima battery sign does switch off for a while, but once you start driving and hit the road, maybe hit speeds up to 40mph or so, it will come back on. 🤷♂️
Yeah, it is a temporary trick. I've mentioned this in the video. But it would at least hold the hybrid system off a little bit longer so it doesnt fry it right away

Thanks. So I guess my next step is to unplug the hybrid battery and see if I can get it to run without it yes? Thanks for your videos, they’re always a help!!
Also mine is an 09 which I guess were the really bad ones and the original owner had the battery replaced within the first 2yrs and never had a prob with it again. I’ve had it since about 190,000 miles and it’s now 260 and I never had a prob with it either till now. From your experience do you think it’s worth it to get a rebuilt one or have you heard of lots of probs with them also? I really don’t want to replace the car but I’ve heard the same from other ppl about these batteries and don’t really want to waste the money if it’s just going to continue to be a prob 🤷🏻♀️
Use an engine code reader and erase the codes from your obd2 system. Or disconnect your 12v battery from your car for about 15 to 30 minutes then hook the battery back up. Should reboot the computer and obd2 codes.
Check engine lights are guaranteed to come back regardless whether or not the ima system is bad or if you have some sort of small thing gone wrong in it like a sensor or evap system.
The red battery light is primarily for the 12 volt battery under the hood (bonnet) but sometimes the hybrid battery will act stupid as seen in this video and trigger the red light along with the regular ima and engine lights
So if the IMA light is not on that means the hybrid battery is good? Because my car has the hybrid battery all the way charge but the engine light still on for some reason. Should I unplug the 12v battery to see if the engine light goes away? 😅
You should take a engine code reader and see what the codes say. It could just be a sensor, or it could be an underlying code for future hybrid failure.

Under normal circumstances yes. The 12 volt isn’t getting a charge and is draining/dying
The hybrids don’t have an alternator they charge the 12v batteries via the IMA system and if that starts to fail then it won’t charge the battery efficiently or at all which leads to battery drain.

You should take a engine code reader and see what the codes say. It could just be a sensor, or it could be an underlying code for future hybrid failure.
You can also erase engine codes with the readers. But if it's something that needs replaced it'll come back anyway.
You can take your car to your local car parts store and they'll do a free reading if you don't have your own reader.

Thank you it helped!!!
Glad it could help you out!
Don’t fix it dealers will replace the compressor for free after Honda extended the warranty on a/c leak problems
Hey Adrian how many miles is the extended warranty for the compressor? I have an 2006 Hybrid with 135k miles
kuku369 hello my was 66k I I bought it brand new in 2016 fails in 2020 they fix it in on April 2020...
Theres another trick to charge the battery, start the car, put the hand brake on and put the car on L all the way to the bottom! And the battery will charge!
I shall try this
actually, hybrid died!
It does not work!
I have to do it 2 or 3 times to get it to work. ( Sometimes once is enough) I always have issues with it when I am near the Atlanta airport.
Unfortunately I have Honda
Hondas are wonderful cars if you dont get a hybrid.
That just shows how stupid Honda ima battery system is.
you are right
Mine does that too so I have to disconnect my battery at night so it won’t drain
@@MariaGarcia-vp8fl how you do that?
Teach me
@@tourghanatv8423 Actually HONDA IMA system is most problematic system. Parts of Honda civic hybrid are very costly. You remove 12 V battery connection if you are not driving your car for 2 days
@@sgathanikar what! You have to do all that? I don’t drive my 2008 Honda civ hybrid for days at end sometimes and you’re telling me my 12 v will be dead? Dang this car sucks kinda
Not helpful at all
Your system must be too far gone. I’m sorry that it didn’t help you out.
@@Specmauto it's 2008 probably the battery gone bad
