I personally like the kid, but Cam made that number iconic at Auburn, by doing those very things. Auburn retired numbers have historically been career Auburn players. As much as I love me some Cam Newton, and his 2010 season was one for the ages, he only played one year. If Deuce wants number 2, I say let him wear it.

So deuce can’t win a national championship at auburn? I don’t believe in retired numbers btw. Retiring numbers to me makes it look like a player is bigger than the game and winning a championship is a team effort.
Cam was a one year stud at Auburn and wasn't here long enough to build a legacy. I like Cam but he ain't Bo Jackson. He hasn't earned the right to retire a jersey number after one year of stats

I know he still does camps and stuff but the level of look at me he puts into everything he does is a turn off for tons of people. If it wasn't you wouldn't see people jumping him at his events because the mouth running back and forth got so bad. Just the level of arrogance in the Man is one of the main reasons he is not playing football today. His ability doesn't make up for his mouth.

Cam earned every accolade he got from Auburn including a statue and a Heisman. What more do you want? He did more in 1 year than 99.9% did in 4 years.
