My fire is to be able to reduce my 40hr work week to at least 30hr work week. So i get to keep doing the work that i like, but feel i have better life-work balance.

As soon as my finances allow, I will have a house cleaner and a personal chef 3x a week. My finance journey seems to be moving slow but I'm proud of myself. I finally have a better credit score❤ I love these shows❤

Reached Barista FI a month ago on a 6 figure bicycle based window cleaning business. Listened to years of back episodes over the last 2 years. Absolutely love the content and I religiously spread the wisdom. Looking into buying rental property with our extra funds. Always searching for more wisdom. Thank so so much for the books and podcasts!

F.i.n.r. - financial Independence Never Retire is my brand of fire.
I Retired twice already and it was not good for me. The more I work the happier I am. 😌
My employer is 91 years old and still works 💪 I aim to be like 👍 👌 😉 him.

My granddad declared "The day I retire is the day I die". My dad says the same thing, and I am saying this same thing as well. Both of them have PhDs in science/engineering, and I'm working on mine right now. I call this FILE- Financial Independence, Lifelong Employment. Not as catchy as FIRE, but doing fine enough to take care of myself and my future family is just one thing. The real challenge is the freedom to pursue whatever curiosity I might have in the sciences, spend my time doing research with less of a concern around funding.

My FIRE is to drop to 30 hrs or part time and not worry about job loss. I think it will take away my negative feelings about my job because it won't be so important, and I will have more free time to focus on things I enjoy, making me overall happier and more fulfilled.

I’m an immigrant and as far as I know we have been house hacking for a century. My 80 year old aunt has been house hacking for 50 years.

Yeah it is kind of a white person thing to "discover" house "hacking" as if it is some kind of hack and not mere common sense

I don’t think it’s uncommon to go from nothing (meaning negative net worth) to financial independence. Dave Ramsey guided hundreds of thousands of people on that journey, my family included. We used to discuss on a monthly basis who was NOT going to be paid on time. We were financially illiterate, and it’s really hard to “luck up” on wealth when you have no clue even about the basics such as budgeting. We had a military salary, young kids and lots of debt. That didn’t change until we got sick and tired of being sick and tired. That propelled us to seek out what we didn’t know to turn our financial picture around. The message is HOPE and a PLAN. Sure, a great income and outside assistance helps, but plenty of Americans have both but are still upside down financially. Please broaden your message to include folk who don’t have deep pockets. There’s a way forward, even with inflation eroding our purchasing power, for people of low and middle income.

Okay, next year I want merch. Get all the FIRE to get merch. And we get to walk the street with our favorite podcast/UA-cam/blogger financial people/group and geek out in public. And all the proceeds go to financial education programs. Or a reverse scholarship fund - write an essay and if you win we will pay $500 of your student loans. Haha😂. I am done now. Got carried away.

I’m 25 just reached a quarter million net worth, 3 rental property’s one personal home. was broke in debt in and out of jail, from 18-20, found fire and bigger pockets in 2020, anybody who wants to make a change, become so educated you can’t just spend all of your money, you can’t not invest. It is the easiest time to get wealthy.

I'd get the heck out of NYC. You have skills and a college degree. You can live at least 70% cheaper in Buffalo and they need teachers. There's plenty of diversity and culture there and you're on an international border and you could own your own home if you wanted. NYC is totally overrated

False hope. I was just about to say this. Show me someone making 75K a year that just got debt free and went from zero to a million in 10 years. Not someone making 250k.
