I wouldn't say you loss reserves, its just takes those reserves take longer to cycle back to the carrier. Which in the long run gives you more planes I THINK. Its kinda funny how stealthy you can make a CV if you want to go that route, their basically cruisers with a flight deck at that point. Besides the planes being slower on the return flight which lowers your cycling rate of squadrons, having Used Hidden Mence myself i FAIL to find a downside. Plus when piloting the b25s on hornet you don't even have to worry about a return trip so its just extra time for your other planes to get back. Still nice video showing off the build.
Fun tip, with AP bombers dropped horizontally like this VS the japanese vertical drops, if you slow down it reduces the angle back closer towards 90 degrees that the AP bombs hit at giving you better pen!
I really hate that taking hidden menace means that your planes stay in the AA bubble longer. I feel HM would be a pretty decent skill if it just meant that your planes took longer to return to the ship from their invulnerable state (ya know, like they have a harder time finding your ship again just like everyone else). Has the negative effect of making planes slower to recycle from attacks but on certain carriers thats a non issue so HM would be a straight buff to their performance. Just seems like a waste if you ask me, i almost never take the skill because i dont like investing 4 points just to lose more planes.
How exactly does that work? -50% to them getting to the immunity height and -50% speed when returning to the carrier. Are they slower the moment you recall them? Cus far as i know its only when they become immune and are heading back to the carrier.
@@jaywerner8415 from how it was explained to me: HM’s plane slowdown effect kicks in as soon as you hit recall which is why they had to lower the height at which planes take damage from AA after an attack, the planes would go through their attack animation, and on the pullout to reach immunity height they were going 50% slower if you ran HM. That meant that you ended up losing more planes because they stayed in the dmg zone for longer they they otherwise would have. Remember the coding in this game is an absolute mess, so my guess is that WG hasn’t distinguished between recalled planes rising to immunity height and recalled planes at immunity height, they are both one and the same in the code. Meaning that when HM pops it has the added negative of making you lose more planes for the only added benefit that you are given like an extra km of concealment, in other words it’s probably the single worst skill you could take on a cv, you suffer higher losses for a very marginal benefit. If HM only worked when your planes were invulnerable to AA, then it’d actually be a pretty decent skill for CVs with fast planes and/or high reserves, since the main issue then isn’t untenable plane losses, but manageable squad recycle times. Since HM doesn’t distinguish between vulnerable and invulnerable recall planes though, HM is really only viable on Super CVs since their main dmg source is the jet planes. Which of course, aren’t affected by losses or recycling times since they are permanently bound to a timer that starts as soon as they are launched. If the game went on regardless of the 20min game clock then in theory it’s impossible for a super CV to be deplaned, they can literally lose every single jet in their squad, every single time, and the only thing that matters is if they managed to get the strike off first.
I have HM in my IJN carriers because the detectability range of them is low for torpedoes bombers that allows me to make stealth attacks, it's even better for Hakuryu because I can make 2 attacks while approaching thanks to the large range of torpedoes and the ship can't turn when I'm already on her broadside. As you says depends on which carrier you use it, but I don't lose all my squadron maybe 4 planes o less
With cruisers of course, AP bombs of Hornet are only consistants on few battleships types. For example russian BBs are excellent targets, you can 4 cita even a Kremlin and deal the max 14k damages. Japanese and italian BBs are effective to deal with too, but american, french and german citadels are more protected so lower are the damages in general.
@@anjayl I dont know I guess it depends on playstyle, I prefer ship with low skill floor and high fault tolerance Hornet with fast regen and B25 fits me better though. APDB not really that sucks, IMO the way to manuver DB is quite similar to my shokaku I dont like GZ just because of the circle reticle of APDB, I genually feels like it gonna drop at random position (which similar to loewenhardt but that ship is armed with HEDB)
Hornet is okay if you want to play just another carrier. Yeah... the AP bombers are only useful on cruiser, the torps are pretty good against everything else and no need to say that the HE bombers are busted.
I see ur struggling with AP DB on hornet you should mainly try using them on cruisers and light cruisers and rarley on BBs as torp bombers do a better job on BBs Hope this makes then a bit more consistent for you :)

Question: what is the significance of the yellow ship names compared to the white ones with the team lineups?
premium and reward ships. The wite are tech tree ships. He is using a mod that destinguish them.
Oh gotcha. Thanks appreciate it.

I still think Hornet is a good ship
B25 at some point can just assure that certain level of damage output is secured
I consider it the weakest of all tier 8 CVs. I even prefer the GZ.

do you ever go back down to low tiers like tier 4 cvs for fun? if so do you have some footage of some ones you play
I don't play low-level matches because there are bots
Do you use any texture mods? The lines look more crisp in this than in my game at Ultra settings on 1440p
This moment when u realise that tactical bombers has 3/5 of full ship health

more fire
Thanks Toptier! Is this stealth build finally viable? Do you still use this on the Hornet?
Is that the default cammo?
A premium cv like hornet is a captain trainer so using a specialized build defeats the purpose
when i play her, i feel like idolittle against enemy CVs and ships...

Ggwp, amagi & you carried the game well
Lmao how useless enemy BBs were
WHAT IS this mod plz:):):)
I feel like a better test would've been using your hull more aggressively than this. You still played far too safe, imo.
It is unnecessary to test the 25mm
@@ttier I didn't mean the secondary's I just meant getting more aggressive.. moving up behind closer islands etc...
@@krjett87 deck armor is 25 mm
@@ttier you should’ve gone secondary hornet build, much more damage guaranteed
@@me-ib1zo you sure about that? this isn't a graff zepplin with 8 152mm german sniper cannons, its 4 US 127mms.
