Clients are paying for results and not for a video. The video is a tool to reach an outcome. That’s why working as an agency trying to figure out what the client actually wants and needs is way more important than producing a video based on something a client says. And that is where the money is at.

Interesting. Thanks for the tips. It took me 3-5 years to remove the middle man and I realised that the agency was happy to get someone cheap or open to charge less so they could marge on my services. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I love your videos man, they've been very helpful to me.. I had a pretty similar situation two months ago... I actually want to sell work to the "end" client, the people who needed the content.. They loved my work and and my crew on set, and they didn't seem to like the director they were working with (I was DP plus two crew memebers).. I want to follow up with them and see if I can snag a new client with the pitch "This will cost you a little less to work directly with me, and less of a headache"

Hey. I personally don’t like to do that since that’s taking a client from someone that hired me. I’ve had that happen to me and it’s frowned up on. I usually try to do this by going directly after a client from the start. Not through another company or producer that currently has the client

@@Filmmakingmentor what if you see the client wasn’t happy with the services and you know they’re not going to work with him again? That’s the scenario I saw in front of me.

Thank you for your valuable information you have been sharing in your videos. I have a question that I hope you could help me with. Recently, I decided to specialize in creating videos for IT companies as my niche. However, a friend of mine advised me that this may not be a profitable niche and that I should instead focus on businesses that target customers. I have done extensive research on this, but I'm still feeling stuck and unsure of what to do next. Given your experience in this field, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or recommendations you may have. Thank you in advance for your time and help.

In my experience business to business companies actually have more money to spend than business to consumers. I’ve done some work for companies that do IT for other companies. These companies still need marketing videos, training videos and recruiting videos. And they can pay just as well of not better than b to c companies since a single customer is worth a lot to them usually. You can also use LinkedIn sales navigator to find IT companies based on revenue to company size. It’s a paid service but might be worth it

I wish I would have seen this video before I plopped down a ton of money on another course that is basically a LinkedIn blueprint for targeting prospective clients. And that's ALL it is. If there was no LinkedIn, there would be no course. (They don't tell you this before you sign up, and oh... No refunds). Everything you said in your video could've come straight from my mouth. When I finish paying off the other course, I plan on taking yours. It sounds more like more of a multi-pronged approach as opposed to using one social media site to save your business.

Basically, the huge corporations pay for trust. I learned that when I first began my business. Unfortunately, I've never been able to get through to the companies that actually pay. Don't go after small business. Entrepreneurs certainly do not pay much if anything. They always want free stuff. They're leeches. Most of them anyway. And many are unappreciative. So don't market to small business unless you're willing to make $100 or less for 10 hours of work.

I shoot 30 second spots for a town near me. Usually 3K a piece. Now they are asking for a documentary. Do you have a video on how I would go about pricing that project?

    • @Filmmakingmentor

There is a complete pricing video on my channel but more based on a one day shoot. But you just use that for multi day shoots as well. You just gotta figured out what kind of production and post production a full documentary entails
