That was the time when I first saw them life. It was a bigger gig though, Countdown Special in Holland. First Raymond van de Groenewouden, then Madness and it ended with the Specials. I think in front of 5000+ audience.
Anymore footage from America? I know Madness didn't like leaving Camden Town that much as they didn't like traveling long distances and preferred english food. I can't find much footage of Madness on their American tour so if anyone has any links just leave them here please thanks. Madness should have been massive in America, they had it all, great songs, charisma and they were genuine nutters lol.
Perhaps Madness, like the rest of the new wave of ska and mod at the time, were just too fiercely British in lyrics. to appeal widely in the USA. Shame. The country missed out on great music. Not many Americans knew about E.R.N.I.E. or the football pools.
Tq for posting this.
Gorgeous suggs xx

Overdone is a classic album track, perhaps one of their best

They weren't successful in the USA that's why they didn't travel
What was going on with Chris in this one? Not his usual behaviour, he was all over the mic
'he took on alcohol and lost' says Suggs
