There is no records for many family collections that could go back generations. Likewise on folks arming themselves, they aren't talking about it.
And that’s the reason why the United States 🇺🇸 will never be invaded by a foreign country, the US population would produce numerous casualties on the invading forces before they even dealt with our awesome military forces.
I live in Brazil. It is amazing how there is only 8.3 registered guns per 100 people, yet so much gun crime! Maybe if the law wasn’t so ridiculously stringent on legally owning guns, the gun crime rate would fall. It is easy for a criminal to point a gun at someone when they know that the victim is unarmed and has no chance of defending him or herself. I firmly believe that if decent, law abiding citizens were armed, then the criminals would think twice before pointing a gun at someone. At least a gun crime victim would have the choice of whether to defend themself or not instead of just waiting for the inevitable.
It’s not just the quantity but also the quality that matters. Many of the countries listed have serious restrictions on caliber, function, amount of ammunition and storage locations-you can’t have your gun or ammunition at your home.
This is misleading in calculating and the title. Ot should be guns oer hundred people. Only about 1/3 of citizens in rhe US own guns, but those who have them own multiple.
Strict for all firearms. You need a permit even to buy some .22 for plinking or a magazine. Handguns were not too hard if you had completed the R/PAL but getting it was difficult. Buy too many in too short a time would probably result in a visit from the police.
I suspect there is a vast unseen distribution error with this single mode of analysis. I know individuals that collect hundreds of firearms. Most have nothing.🤔
I don't think they took my arsenal in account in that number. I'm only 1 person and have enough to cover that status. I personally own over 120 firearms. 63 in just side arms from revolvers to semi auto and black powder revolvers. Not to mention all the ammunition for every single firearm. Best part is anyone can walk every inch of my property or in my house and never see a single one. Totally out of site out of mind.
I presume that this is the number of guns legally owned/admitted. I’m reasonably confident that many of these countries have a possession number substantially higher. Take America for instance, I personally know folks who have firearms that no one knows about, mainly by inheritance or private purchase.
The reason we "grapple with high gun-related violence" is not because of the amount of guns, it's because of gun laws. When you disarm innocent people, Especially in a country where guns are so prevalent, that's what happens.
I don't think the number of guns in Mexico is any where near that few. The US only has 1.2 guns per person? I knew someone who had 300 or so. All WWII or earlier. I only have one at present but I expect to get more.
about 48,000 people die in the US each year from guns. our town has a population of 13,000, so that would be just over 3.5 of our towns wiped out every year. i believe a person should be able to protect themselves. almost 15,000 murders a year are by gun, which leaves 33,000 people that die from no criminal activity by gunfire
120.5 per 100 people?! I can almost guarantee that number isn't even close to the real number. Not by a long shot. Hell, in my house alone there are 2 gun owners and we have 11 guns ready to go.

Keep the government in check. They will never admit it, but know it.
I don't know how they arive at those numbers. It doesn't even seem close to a lot of countries, both high and low numbers.
And how do they count people who have more than one?
Where and how is this information obtained? Accuracy? As of when?
Need to realize that for several of the countries listed almost all the guns belong to police/military. The Bahamas immediately comes to mind.
How can this be accurate when Australia banned and outlawed handguns. Someone enlighten me if they have more accurate information!
Now rank the ratio of gun ownership rate divided by murder rate… might show something interesting.
Lets not forget the poor countries that can't afford firearms so have to stab attackers with the butter knife or the claw hammer.
I guess I was wrong 34.7 for Canada would be all guns Cause very strict laws in Canada for hand guns
Strict for all firearms. You need a permit even to buy some .22 for plinking or a magazine. Handguns were not too hard if you had completed the R/PAL but getting it was difficult. Buy too many in too short a time would probably result in a visit from the police.
These are probably registered legal guns. Factor in illegal guns and u can triple the number.
In the rural areas of the US the numbers are way higher than that. Also partly why the crime rate is so low in those areas.
I remember in one weekend the state where I live sold enough guns to arm the Marine corps. This is badly underestimating how many guns are in America.
🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
And the firearms are owned by government officials not general public in the lower number countrys
Israel has so few, but they really need them. That Oct. 7 massacre may not have happened if Israelis were as armed as Americans.
The poorest countries can't even afford one firearm each
I thought Australia didn't allow private gun ownership. I though America would be a higher number than that, I'm certainly doing better than my share.
Probably shot guns.
No illegal guns were counted in the making of the video.
I suspect there is a vast unseen distribution error with this single mode of analysis. I know individuals that collect hundreds of firearms. Most have nothing.🤔
Those are just the ones “they” know about.
The count is probably based on known guns per 100 people. Doesn’t factor in non registered or 2nd hand purchases.
This must be an old chart. You can't even have a shotgun in Canada now.
Those numbers are only the ones that they know of. I would venture to guess there are many more lost in boating accidents.
And exactly how does our government know how many guns we have since it is constitutionally prohibited that they keep track of those numbers?
I don't think they took my arsenal in account in that number. I'm only 1 person and have enough to cover that status. I personally own over 120 firearms. 63 in just side arms from revolvers to semi auto and black powder revolvers. Not to mention all the ammunition for every single firearm. Best part is anyone can walk every inch of my property or in my house and never see a single one. Totally out of site out of mind.
I’m sure the number of guns is higher if you count all the guns, the government has no idea you have.
I have 6 pistols and a couple of long guns...my father has over 60...we live in Tennessee.
Coordinates please? 😂😂
The numbers are actually higher. Most hunting rifles and shot guns are not registered, so basically no one knows how many
Proud of you USA. Way to go. Never give up your freedoms !!!!!
A 120 guns per 100 people!!!! Must be a mistake. Is more like a 120 guns per 10 people probably per 5…
Guns don’t kill people...bullets do
Dear Bot's............Look at your own government for the cause of gun violence. It is not the guns or the people of the country.
It's not important whether citizens can own weapons, but whether they can legally carry them.
Of course this survey doesn't paint the whole picture. Most of those 120 guns per 100 people are concentrated in less than 50% of the households. I think the number is closer to 33% of households are armed.
