The Damned were the only band that stuck to the punk roots. Every other band, i.e. Pistols, Clash, Stranglers etc all signed up to big money deals with commercial record companies. Still a great band though, but don't try to preach your a "punk" band when it ended up being all about the money.
It's always a pleasure to stumble across new Clash stuff. The band that spawned a million band and as per the comment below, the only band that really mattered...unless of course you wanna add Midnight Oil as the other band!
Topper Headon and Stewart Copeland were two great drummers who had classic training. They really set their music above everyone by musicianship. Who cares about the words.
Ramones, Stones, Blue Oyster Cult, Thin Lizzy, not sure the Clash was the best, but they are up there.. Pistols were probably the greatest rock band ever because they paved the way. Damned were great, but not recognized somehow.
longpantsshortlegs You miss the point. Yes, The Clash are old (lead singer is dead!), but old guy shit is grey pony tails, scraggly beards, sandals and cordurouys. Hope this isn't you") So who were the best to come out of the punk scene in your "30 years" of experience? In your humble opinion of course...LOL!
Forget about opinion. The Beatles had 5 in the top billboard chart for best albums. The Clash we're #7 on billboard for best album London Calling. The Beatles had five slots above that. This makes the Clash definitely the best group since the Beatles. All those other opinions down below of other artists being better has no fact behind. The Clash is the fact of reality, opinion.
I disagree that they were best not reforming. You could here both Micks creativity with BAD and Joe's with his band were still intact but put them together and it would have been stunning in my opinion
I liked The Clash and bought their early stuff and saw them in 79 with The Slits supporting them who were shit hot, but looking back for me PiL were more non conformist and daring and avant garde, and the PiStOls did bring pUnk to the world. Joe was a legend though, so sad when he snuffed it.
Johnnie Walker's a recovering alcoholic, but he only discusses it with other public figures recovering from alcohol. Yep B.B.C. D.J.'s are so accessible and inter-active. If you kiss arse. The Clash did change my life. Johnnie Walker didn't.
+Gregory Lichtenson just a rock n roll band at the end of the day, you can't expect them to change the world on their own, they created the music they wanted to rather than stick in a punk timewarp and they released double and triple LPs at the price of a single LP at expense to themselves. It's the likes of you who have been fooled by lazy cliches like 'corporate puppets' my friend.
Much like trained dogs ..the $$ was also less than people might think..Yes Joe Strummer was a Good guy...but the band was controlled by the Producers and people whom layed Out a lot of money to cut Records...it's called White Corp Oppression. ..Sonic Youth Sings about it...Anyway RIP Joe...The East Village Manhattan misses you...check out the Mescalaros...Joes New Band...Yalla Yalla is a Fav of mine and my son....
its just shallow contemporary music that most people of the younger generation arent even aware of and that will have no resonance in future generations
Gregory Lichtenson...I just do not know were to start...the Ramones were all mid 20's in 1976..Johnny Ramone was even close to being 30....the Clash started gigging in 76 and Jones, Chimes and Simonon were all 20 at the time..yes Strummer was a bit older but not "old"...Charlie Harper of the UK Subs was in his mid 30's when he made the first UK Subs album...."Listen...if you dont like my comments...thats fine..keep harassing me ..and see what happens mother fucker" is what you wrote to another poster....I cannot wait to see what happens, dickhead....are you going to hunt me down and kill me?....or are you just another sad idiot keyboard warrior on the internet who will call me a cunt while believing that will hurt me? LOL You're joking, right?
I think you’re forgetting Maroon 5.

Nice to see you getting on.
Getting on each other’s nerves!
Gosh darn John Graham Mellor's congenitally weakened heart. Alas! Thx for the interview post.
Be glad he spent 50 wonderful great years on this earth.
thanks for putting this up
thank you so much from a clash fan in Australia
Topper Headon and Stewart Copeland were two great drummers who had classic training. They really set their music above everyone by musicianship. Who cares about the words.
Who cares about the words? Drummers aren't shit without the songs and the words, pal.
Tuvieron todo, buena música, presencia escénica, toda la onda y actitud, un baterista de otro planeta. Inolvidables. Gracias!
Holy Crap!!
Thanks so much!! :-)
The Clash stood for MORE...of everything !!!
«First of all they’re not doctor martens» FUCKING LEGEND PAUL
As they've gracefully aged, they've certainly harkened back to their more- mod roots, as the photo indicates.
Mick is giving American audiences the benefit of the doubt.
The Clash are the greatest Rock band of all time, no other group ever comes close
Ramones, Stones, Blue Oyster Cult, Thin Lizzy, not sure the Clash was the best, but they are up there.. Pistols were probably the greatest rock band ever because they paved the way. Damned were great, but not recognized somehow.
+Mike Kennedy The Stones Blue Oyster Cult and Thin Lizzy? That's some old guy shit right there...
longpantsshortlegs You miss the point. Yes, The Clash are old (lead singer is dead!), but old guy shit is grey pony tails, scraggly beards, sandals and cordurouys. Hope this isn't you")

The Clash are the Beatles of rock n roll
Forget about opinion. The Beatles had 5 in the top billboard chart for best albums. The Clash we're #7 on billboard for best album London Calling. The Beatles had five slots above that. London's Crushed Butler toyed with calling themselves The Clash in 1969.
Did they? Interesting.......
6:10 I thought the term 'heavy metal' came from a William Burroughs book? Burroughs certainly mentioned "heavy metal" a lot in his early '60s books.
You're most welcome.
Thanks
Why did you cut out those songs? :/ I miss em so much! :D
God, they are ALIVE!!! ♥ : ) ♪♪♪♪♪♪ They are ALIVE ♪♪♪♪♪♪♥
Khultan yes I know !
Vince McGogorry Joe is still alive cause legends never die
Paul says 'insofar' a lot
All the talk about the drum intro on Safe European Home and they didn't fuckin play it.......
Cut the crap Should have been released on The sound system box set, This is england and three card trick Are 2 amazing songs.
I liked 'em too. "We are the Clash" would have been better if they really were the real Clash.
Joe Strummer is juste my héro.
Three gents.
THE CLASH
I disagree that they were best not reforming. You could here both Micks creativity with BAD and Joe's with his band were still intact but put them together and it would have been stunning in my opinion

Joe was a legend though, so sad when he snuffed it.
+permaveg ADD?
"Anti-fascist, anti-violence, pro-creative and against violence." Gee, what a bold statement.
Anti-fascist is the one that matters.
Johnnie Walker's a recovering alcoholic, but he only discusses it with other public figures recovering from alcohol. Yep B.B.C. D.J.'s are so accessible and inter-active. If you kiss arse. The Clash did change my life. Johnnie Walker didn't.
Clash where Corp Puppets!!!!!
+Gregory Lichtenson Sure?
If you dont think the Clash where Corp puppets...then it is your ignorance that has the best of you.....
+Gregory Lichtenson just a rock n roll band at the end of the day, you can't expect them to change the world on their own, they created the music they wanted to rather than stick in a punk timewarp and they released double and triple LPs at the price of a single LP at expense to themselves. They made some of greatest music ever recorded.
its just shallow contemporary music that most people of the younger generation arent even aware of and that will have no resonance in future generations
Stupid title . No Strummer No Clash...
g man tramp, no Joe no Clash, no Mick no Clash, no Paul no Clash and yes you’ve guessed it, no Topper definitely no Clash.
