You got a couple gems for cheap! Great job on the restoration of the Sunbeam Grill. It looks brand new and as you hinted at it was made better in the past when the metal was thicker gauge and made to last longer. If you painted the inside of the grill I think I would want to do a pre-burn on the high temperature paint before cooking with it though, for smell and taste purposes if nothing else. I am sure you and 90% of the viewers realize that already. I love your restoration projects! Keep them coming.
Kenny, I have a 35 year old "Maxi-Gas" 3 burner stove that I recently sandblasted and re-painted. Came up a treat. You get so much satisfaction from fixing up old things and making them like new again!!!!
Well done! I have shopped at charity shops for many years, and have all I need for any emergency situation. Your parents must be very proud of you, you will go far in this life!
That Sunbeam grill is a real gem. I have one and it never fails. Cooks food evenly and is easy to transport. I mainly use mine when I'm out on my quad. My ATV club has monthly rides and the club always cook out on the trail with the sunbeam. They are easy to clean too. I spray mine down with oven cleaner and let it soak then dry it off. It helps to fire it up to dry also. Your going to get years of service from it. Enjoy & be safe !
Nice inexpensive setup. One tip I would pass on is to put a light smear of grease (axle grease or other non hardening type) on male propane tank threads and female threads on propane connector. On many propane appliances, they use aluminum threaded fittings, which are easily damaged. I have had a few new propane canisters with burrs on the threads and totally ruined a $70 dollar lantern by cross threading. Your comment on cross threading certainly bears repeating. Good video!
Good vid and great attitude. We need to make more use of items that already exist. Got your deal, made it look great and shot and edited an informative vid. Thumbs up!
Kenny, Sunbeam has been around a long time. I have the same grill, that I bought new, about 25 years ago, still works great. It is what I take to do all my cooking, including using a fry pan. That Coleman stove you have is about $90 new at Wally World. You made 2 great purchases. $4 bucks for about $130 worth of gear.
Thanks for the info. Yeah I couldn't pass up $4 for a stove that I knew would be very expensive if bought new, plus it would be better quality than anything you buy off the shelves nowadays. Thanks for watching.
When you buy used propane grills or stoves, it's best to check the hose & fittings for leaks first. Connect it to a gas tank, and turn on the gas at the tank, but keep the burner valves closed & don't light it. Next, mix like 1/4 dish soap & the 3/4 water in a bowl, soak a sponge in it, and run the sponge over the fittings, hose, and regulator. If there are leaks, you will see bubbles coming out. From my experience, its usually the O-rings at the end of the regulator. You can get new O-rings at the hardware shops.
I use a propane stove and a charcoal grill. In a pinch the charcoal grill can be used to build a modest fire like a portable fire ring. Also charcoal is easy to make.
I have found very nice Coleman camping stoves similar to the one you show but with a grill and two burners at almost the same size at the swap meet myself for around $10 to $15. If you watch you can find many bargains for camping and other things used but don't claim that simply because you found a good bargain that others can do the same. Yes they can but it takes time and effort.
Kenny, Nice beginners vid. Just something to consider. I'm using my parents 60+ years old Coleman stove. You can get a converter to change it from white gas to propane. Super handy. I bought a propane tree so I can connect my grill, stove, and lanterns all off of one bulk tank source. I'm not a fan of all those canisters and they get spendy over time.
Good video. It reminds me of when I was much younger and car camping myself. I was surprised that your small BBQ grill (I have a similar Weber model) did not have one of those big disc-shaped pressure regulators that allows for fine flame control, but I guess you can get by without one. The best accessory I can think of is a cheap plastic tarp and a lot of rope to it tie down (or over) with. Cooking in the rain is miserable.
I had that same sunbeam grill not sure if you know but you can take the lava rocks out and use charcoal in it if you want to Propane bottle off of course. After just clean out the tube with air or water and its good to go for propane again in a pinch you can use wood as the fuel too that little grill is bullet proof. mine lasted for years and I used charcoal and wood when ever I ran out of propane for it.
Great video! got me motivated to hit the garage sales and thrift stores....these items are valuable to have around if the power goes out, or if you wanna go camping in the back yard, or emergency preparation. I like how you emphasized that this 1. does not have to be expensive, and 2. does not have to be complicated. POST MORE VIDEOS, DUDE!
great vid. best grill purchase I ever made was a ducks unlimited barrel style grill for clearance of 20 bucks. Its big enough for cooking for groups of app. 20 ppl. Ive had it for about 15 years and it even came with a small portable grill. its amazing what maintaining the paint on a grill does for the life of the appliance.
About the one gas can for both... don't be afraid to buy and old Coleman gas stove. They sell a propane attachment that works great. Makes a dual fuel stove into a triple fuel. It is larger than the propane stove shown here but I found I could use the space under the grill to pack a can opener, a folding handle teflon skillet, matches and a bbq lighter.
What a great video. I've been contemplating propane stoves and Dave made me a little nervous just the idea of dealing with something that's so combustible. But you made it look so simple and straightforward and now I have confidence that I can do that. Great finds at the yard sale! I've been watching Craigslist and eBay but I've been nervous about buying from either place because you have to buy before you can inspect it. Thank you so much!
Thumbs up on your commentary. Have one of those Sunbeam grills, too. Think they originally sold for about $20, new. Love old camping gear & been buying if off & on since about 1970. Therefore, also have several of those Colman stoves. Tip: You can buy adapters & a tank tee so both can be run off a larger 20lb tank, when practical. Saves the 1 lb ones for times they are the best/only option in a given situation. BTW & FWIW... Also have a couple of adapters that convert Colman liquid camp fuel stoves to propane, as well. Thus, gives choice of fuel source for those to fit the situation. Making the camp fuel stoves, also a bargain when they show up at yard sales & such for only a few dollars. Look for a 2 burner (cast iron preferred) griddle at those yard sales. Keep one on our propane kitchen stove & it also fits on a Colman. Just about perfect for making batches of pancakes, grilled cheese sandwiches, fried eggs and about anything else that can be cooked on a "flat top". From grilled onions, slices of Spam, summer squash, to thin center-cut pork chops! Bonus: Not only good for car camping. Backup plan for grid-down power-out camping, too. Over the years, have cooked many meals with our Colman sitting on the electric stove we previously had in our kitchen. Using good common sense safety precautions, these can be used indoors. Thank you for sharing. Love to see those old stoves returned to use once again. Big :-)
The propane grills and stoves are cheaper than the white gas versions, but the Coleman fuel is way more efficient and cost efficient. Also works better at elevation and in cold, windy weather. Just my two cents. I have a grill much like the one on the left and I like it. I mostly use a charcoal grill and one of my old Coleman liquid gas stoves.
How refreshing is it to see a man of this age doing something like this? Most kids are usually texting or doing something stupid. This young man is going to go places. Im impressed! seriously thanks.
Good job. Enjoyed the video and subscribed to your channel. I have the same Coleman stove and have enjoyed it for over 20 years. Like you said they are simple and just a good cleaning after use and they will last for years. Keep up the good work !!!!!
I love my Coleman stove! I don't car camp as much anymore. I do mostly backpacking over nighters. But those stoves are super easy to pack and use for a family camp out.
the adapter to use a 20 lb propane or gas grill tank, is awesome....I use it on the little buddy heater from Tractor Supply, or Walmart. the Coleman stove I have came from a yard sale. in mint condition for less than 20.00 . we use this set up in the Coleman deluxe kitchen set up with our Runaway camper. and I used the lil buddy heater and a 20 lb. tank at my camper in the Cherokee National Forest, when I had my place up there. I wouldn't waste the money on the portable little 1 lb. tanks, you can get a 20 lb. filled for 20.00 or less . the 20 lb. tank holds about 4 gallons of LP. that will go a long way on a small camp stove. id recommend using a long hand held lighter , instead of the cig. lighter . you build up enough gas in that area, you will have a fire ball big enough to singe your eyebrows off. same principle with a gas grill. propane is heavy, it will gather in a confined area, and it burns hot, and fast. great video for those that may not have much info on things like this.
Good video, great explanation for those looking for assistance. I caught it by accident looking for videos on chuck boxes :) Not sure how many people have a "Dirt Cheap" around them, but they are very good "junk stores" to buy small pits like this and camping stoves for cheap...I mean like 3 or 4 bucks a piece.
I'm an old camper from the sixties and seventies. Of course I was a kid in those days, but coleman stoves were the thing to have when camping out with the family. We use to use white gasoline. My dad said to always use one fuel all the time. In other words, if you begin with white gas stay with it. I had to use Coleman fuel one camping trip and it clogged mine up bad.. Well as I said, I had started off with white gas. Can you show me how to unclog it?
Don't want to sound like an old know it all BUT on the sunbeam fold the legs around till they touch the bottom of the grill and the coleman will get hot enough to burn Your paint You can put a small patio block under it that should work AND their should be a small slot in each side of the stove for the windbrake OK I'll stop like Your video's aka Tommy
Thank you for this video as now I feel a lot better about the Coleman stove that we rediscovered in our garage from years ago. And I am inspired to go to yard sales plus more likely to try and clean up a good find. I am also now wondering if we can utilize our large metal tool box for camping, as seen in the bed of your truck. We have a new one and nobody in our family is using it so maybe it can be turned into a camp kitchen.
Well done. You're a great teacher. Fantastic bargains you got. Good job. At the very least you could resell them later now that you've brought them back to life.
Hey Kenny someone has shown you had to take good care of your stuff and to fix things up when you find them in disrepair. I love watching your videos. There is an old saying "use it up, wear it out and make it last." You live by that, I am so impressed, especially in this through away world we seem to live in. You are going to be alright. Keep the videos coming good stuff.
Hey that was very informative!!! I have a question; how much use can I get out of one of those little propane tanks? I'll ve cooking for 6 people and we'll be gone for 4 days....thanks in advance!
Great video, even a total newbie like myself could understand. Now if you would like to double your money I would happy to pay you $12 for the set! Guess I better start watching for yard sale signs.
You made a smart informative Video! Loved it! That was some great bargain finds! I Love to check out thift shops for things I am looking for too! You have a great speaking voice for making these videos!
Good concept. But not really repeatable for other people. Better idea would be to use store prices to get a new grill and just use your $6 kit as an example.
I don't have your luck, I'd never find that kind of a deal (steal) :-) Sunbeam has been around for years, before even I was born and that's a long time! Mom had a sunbeam mixer and electric skillet she used all the time. The red handles look good, reminds a person "Hot". Sure makes a great package when folded up. I used an old Coleman camp stove to cook a week's worth of food for the family during the week long big ice storm in Atlanta, Ga, back in the early 70's An adapter for a 20# propane tank would be a good addition. Both of your items are great deals, you did GOOD!
Great video, great deal you got on your gear. And don't mind all the condescending "young man" and "dam kid" comments from these jealous haters. They're frustrated and pissed that they paid full price for stuff you managed to almost get for free. And they wish they were a young, motivated, focused dude like you. They're oooooold. And so am I, but I know and appreciate a good deal when I see it. Congrats!
You did very good, but you need to learn about white gas stoves & lanterns, and charcoal. Nothing is camping like a open fire. You can get these items at yard sales and craigslist. Sometimes they will be given to you, like when I did house and apt clean outs. Everything was free. A real car camper will know and have the ability to do all the above. You can then do your camping the way you like at a given moment.
BraveTheWilds When Obama's self induced economic collapse happens, Obama looters are just gonna wait till you cook the food, then come & take it by force.
Ruby Smokee Try googling Bush unemployment by month, 30 million STILL don't have healthcare, and nobody's costs went down, and try googling "The Obama Debt Monitor" .. you'll see Bush added 4.89 trillion, and Obama's around 8 TRILLION, with over a half year 2 go, ... Still Stupid Liberal!
You got a couple gems for cheap!

Your a very smart, polite young man. You will go far in life if you keep this attitude.. I was very helped by this video , thank you very much!
As Peter Crenshaw, from the Three Investigators, would say:” I’ll buy a double helping of that”
Highly agree with the statements above!

Justine Virtue Thank you for watching, glad I could be of assistance.
He bought it for $2! An even better steal!
I’m impressed at how professional this video is for such a young man. Thank you.
I love to see a young person willing to fix things up and reuse items. That's how I was raised and we'd all be better off for it.
i realize I am kind of randomly asking but does anybody know of a good place to watch newly released tv shows online ?
@Maximus Landen Flixportal :)
@Reign Hugo Thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :D Appreciate it!!

You can get a big bag of Lava Rock for the grill pretty cheap at Lowes and Home Depot if you ever need to replace it.

I found a similar portable grills in the shed of the house we bought. It's a Weber, and charcoal only. I cleaned it up and took it to the beach!

I’ve had my sunbeam grill for a few years now and I’ve never thought of adding lava rocks to it. I’ll be doing that promptly. Thanks for the advice.
That Sunbeam is a nice option. Thanks!
I prefer colmans liquid fuel stoves. You can get parts for them to run either whitegas/gasoline or kerosene/diesel.
Good job...both in your purchase and instruction!!!

Sunbeam used to make electric razors when I was a kid -- pretty good ones too. Nice rig.

awww he's never heard of Sunbeam....
HandsomeStranger1963 ...he's just a pup - but he's a smart puppy. :)

Sunbeams a brand sold in walmart there in the states, also sold here i n australia
Great vid. You're worth listening to. Thanks and looking for more vids.
Great, informative video. Where did you get the flexible gas tube ?
I have one similar to yours I have it in back yard I love it I also got it at a yard sale🙏I love it
Cool setup. Great deal!
Well done. You're a great teacher. Fantastic bargains you got. Good job. At the very least you could resell them later now that you've brought them back to life.
Hey Kenny
someone has shown you had to take good care of your stuff and to fix things up when you find them in disrepair. I love watching your videos. There is an old saying "use it up, wear it out and make it last." You live by that, I am so impressed, especially in this through away world we seem to live in. You are going to be alright. Keep the videos coming good stuff.
Nice... 2nd hand and then restore. Well done.
Wow! I am late to the party. I really enjoyed your videos! You are very polite and knowledgeable!
Solid gear. Cook anything with that set up.
Hey that was very informative!!! I have a question; how much use can I get out of one of those little propane tanks? I'll ve cooking for 6 people and we'll be gone for 4 days....thanks in advance!
Nice video. Thank you for posting.
You are such a good man and bless you!
Great video, even a total newbie like myself could understand. Now if you would like to double your money I would happy to pay you $12 for the set! Guess I better start watching for yard sale signs.
Very good presentation!
Thank you so much,great buys,wow
You made a smart informative Video! Loved it! That was some great bargain finds! I Love to check out thift shops for things I am looking for too! You have a great speaking voice for making these videos!
Good concept. But not really repeatable for other people. Better idea would be to use store prices to get a new grill and just use your $6 kit as an example.
Great job my man great video very informative and to the point. Keep it up!
Great finds.. Can't go wrong for that sort of money.
Thanks for the info on the stove.
I buy most of my equipment and camping gear at yard sales I save a lot of money great idea
Have owned them both for years , the Sunbeam has to be watched while cooking greasy chicken , the flame is kind of close
Thrift stores Goodwill, Savers are great places to pickup stuff like this!
"Never heard off sunbeam... "
That does it for me brother!
Good advice , thanks for sharing.
Great video , very helpful. Thank you for sharing and you’ve earned a new subscriber
Great video. Have you ever done a video on small stoves that only use bio-mass, such as wood, twigs or even pine cones?
Not bad! I wish I had time to go to yard sells!
Smart guy. I don't know why it never occurred to me look for these at garage sales. Duh. Thanks.
Scored a great deal young man. Always be on the look out for a great deal.
Cool, I should check out yard sales.
I would pray just to find either one of those for that price. You did a great vid.
Did you say that propane doesn't gum up lines like kerosene? If so, I'll convert to propane.
Great finds!
great find.. thanks for sharing..keep up the good work.
Subbed! I can always use good practical advice. What kind of lunch kit or plates or utensils would you take?
I don't have your luck, I'd never find that kind of a deal (steal) :-) Sunbeam has been around for years, before even I was born and that's a long time! Mom had a sunbeam mixer and electric skillet she used all the time. The red handles look good, reminds a person "Hot". Sure makes a great package when folded up. Thanks for the advise good idea........
very nice find...i love yard sales
Smart purchase 👌🏼
all I can say is.... I really enjoyed this video, thanks very much
you seem like a fine young man
very impressed. thanks for sharing
Dang good buys
