Why did Ms Alexander say that the shooter was mentally unbalanced? It seems he knew exactly what he wanted to do and he acheived it. I'm not saying I agree with his actions but he sure didn't show any signs of dementia. We like to pretend that those who lash out are not of right mind rather than look at the reasons they did it. He should announce he is running for president so he can have all his charges put on hold until after the election then he can just give himself a pardon. Its what trumpf did, all he needs is billions of dollars. Maybe a PAC will start paying for his lawyer fees?

As a Canadian I always get a kick out of hearing Brit journalists talk about gun crime. For Pete's sake, you lot aren't allowed to own a large Chef's knife. LOL. It wasn't a 'silencer' it was a home made 'suppressor.' When a suppressor is attached to a pistol without a device that spring loads the barrel, the pistol will not cycle when fired. It did not jam. He fired a shot, racked the slide to engage another round, etc. and the last shot he actually tapped the back of the slide with his left hand to ensure it was in battery. With the ever present British class system, it's almost inconceivable for those in the media, that anybody with wealth and education could ever commit a crime. Which I think is the reason many crimes go unsolved: the perpetrator is usually framed as a loner, older man, poor and so on. It seems like a kind of Falling Down moment for this young guy in the U.S. There is a really interesting interview with between Extinction Rebellion founder Roger Hallam and BBC journalist Nick Robinson which illustrates the kind of chasm between the comfortable and educated in the media and those at the sharp end. Hallam accuses him of not doing anything because he's got a nice life and doesn't want to rock the boat.
