Gonna have to "erm actually" here: 3D printers are extremely affordable now. You can get a fairly competent printer under $200. I'd steer clear of the ender 3 though. It's just... don't buy it.
The printers seem pretty affordable, but what about the filament? How much can one roll actually print, and could you fill an Alex with these on what comes out of the box?
Due to legal reasons you can not use another company's name for your own product, known as copyright, so Tiago did the right thing because otherwise the Lego Legal Department would have surely sent him a cease & desist letter.
You should add raised 4 squares on the corners of the lids and 4 inserts holes on the bottom of the Alex drawer trays to make them stackable like Lego bricks so they don’t slide off
The nice thing about raised numbers is you can print in a single color, pause the print, and swap colors without needing an AMS or any fancy swapping hardware. If you don’t want to faff about with swapping you can also print in white or yellow and then spray paint the whole thing black, then a light sanding across the numbers to bring out the yellow or white again.
For the lego ruler, I suggest putting teeth on one of the small sides, so that we can measure the brick height even if it's already built on top of plates.
Your work with the 3D printer to sort lego and assemble kits is just incredible and useful. Combined with the ALEX you have a perfect and convenient storage system!
This is a really great video, love what you have made here, now I never wanted or "needed" a 3D printer, but the stuff you have made with it... I also have the same drawer as you, thanks to a video you made a while back.
I think you should add hash marks for plate heights along with the numbers for bricks, and if the slot for measuring 1-wide items is lined up with the 0 point, it'll be very handy for SNOT calculations
I really love them since your previous Bambu video I bought the A1 and am a really big fan of it and saw these designs on the Bambu app and have now printed almost all of them!!!
I've had a Bambu X1C for about a year now and it's amazing! These are so clever. Going to start printing the building tray today because when I put them on my desk they like to roll around. Thanks for sharing!
Took advantage of the BF deal before the deal ends. I snagged a A1 combo and some filament. Excited to print my heart desire during the coming Winter months here in MI
I love that the sides of the trays are sloped, makes it easy to scoop out little parts while building. My brother has at least one printer, so I suggested the trays and scoop for Xmas 😅 Wondering if it would be helpful to stick a handle onto the scooper?
Fantistic! Personally I use my own make shift methods. Crude but effective. I have been thinking about a 3D printer, this may be the push I needed! Thank you, Tiago. Cheers from Canada.
they tray thing I've done before with the target plastic trays some use, that I bought, and then abandoned for sorting. the nice thing is they stack so if I'm partway through a bag, I can put the two smaller bins on top of the 1 larger bin for later. I did buy one of the 3d versions of the rulers on etsy, before I got a 3d printer, but I did not find a 3d print, the compact version is awesome. love these, look forward to more!
Honestly, good job there ! The previous one targeted at the ikea drawers was a bit niche since it would mostly help people with big collection of pieces. But those ones are actually practical for almost anyone building a set. (The ruler being the less interesting to me since at some point you "know" the length of pieces just looking at it a tenth of a second ;-) )
Tiago!! Have you considered opening up a shop and selling these for those of us who don’t have the space or money for a 3D printer but LOVE these designs!! 😁😁
Hi Tiago I love Your videos and now those prints are GREAT!!! I have one idea - maybe You can design some funnel to gather small pieces and allow to pure them into a bag or a cup - when I buy stuff in lego PAB and sort them its kind to tough to gather the sorted parts and put them in zip log bags - such a funnel would made it easier - PLEASE HELP :-D
Amazing! About to print some of these on my A1. Apart from the storage containers, what did you design these in? Assuming you have some CAD design experience?
The ruler is awesome, but the others unnecessary to me. I like to spread out my pieces in a single layer on the table so I can see them all and find the one I want. If I have to pack up before finishing a bag, I put a container just under the table surface, sticking out from the table, and then just push the pieces in. I give myself bonus points if none of them hit the floor.
Someone should start selling these trays and measure tools. Or offer a printing service for them. That would be lovely. I do not feel inclined to buy a whole 3D printer and learn how to use it, just to get my hands on a single sorting tray for danish plastic bricks... 😜
The sorting issue was comical like an as seen on tv ad. Aways just used bowls and rubbermaids. Target had a Lego exclusive sorting tray system as well.
Greate Stuff :) As i bought a A1 some weeks ago, i can aproove your experience. It's easy and very usefull. :) My second printer is on the way :) The ruler will be defintivly printed, as the triangle that i found, is not that exact. :)
Love the work you put into this. Wish you weren't using a Bambu lab though. They propagate not actually learning how 3d printers function, which in turn makes it much harder to diagnose and solve issues as they inevitably arise.
what if you added a very slight indent in the center or ridges in the corners of the lid so that when stacking the boxes the bottom will be somewhat held in place by the lid so they wont as easily shift.
I don't suppose you made inserts for the narrower Alex drawer? I'm heavily considering a printer to fill out mine thanks to your first video. You'd save me a lot of time if you have!
As someone who has been developing additive manufacturing / 3D Printing as a professional I see the downside: a lot of plastic waste. Yes 3D Printing has been getting more accessible over the last years but it is and most likely will stay one of the most expensive manufacturing technology on the market. I have been trying to print Lego out of metal for the last 10 years to challenge me. So far I have neither found or developed a technology capable of doing so. But it in the end it comes down to the added value of the product. So if you are using the trays and tools for 60+ years as people are doing with Lego bricks everything is fine 😉 Als since bamboolabs seems to be one of the better producers using it is close enough to the core value of Lego "det bedste er ikke for godt"
Unfortunately, the price of the printer far outweighs just having a wooden ruler I made myself with a piece of wood and a marker, and a few store-bought plastic boxes XD cool nonetheless
Too bad they don't ship the A1 to New Zealand despite saying they do on their website. Been that way for years and local re-sellers up mark them by double the cost.
Tiago, se fizeres uma loja on-line para vender esses sets eu comprava. Assumo que seria mais barato do que ter de comprar a impressora. Think about it 😉
The ruler is nice, but I really dislike the way the numbers arent aligned to the lines. I would 100% end up looking at a line and wondering if the number above it or below it is correct.
Don‘t miss Bambu Lab’s end of Year Sales!
Find out more via *Bambu Lab’s End of Year Sale Page here ❯* bit.ly/3ZAD7Z0
Do I need a Bambu lab printer to print it on, or am I able to print it on other printers?
“Big news, honey. This year, I actually DON’T want a LEGO set for Christmas….” 😏
😏😏😏
too real for me, my girflriend just orderded me the a1 for chitsmas....... LOL
The curved bottoms on the containers is great. Makes those square, blocky pieces easy to scoop up.
Right?!
U should put 1/3 2/3 on the height part to count plates too
Adding 1/3 hash marks for plate thickness on the brick height side of the ruler might be a nice add on feature
Excellent work & video. The sponsor must be really happy with their investment.
I hope so!! It’s been incredibly cool to work with them!
Affording the Ikea drawers isn't nearly as big a problem as affording a 3D printer
the small printer starts at 200€...
Gonna have to "erm actually" here: 3D printers are extremely affordable now. You can get a fairly competent printer under $200. I'd steer clear of the ender 3 though. It's just... don't buy it.
You may have access to a 3D printer in a school, maker space of some libraries have them as well.
@@joemacleod-iredale2888 I've heard about maker spaces but none of the above are options where I live.
The printers seem pretty affordable, but what about the filament? How much can one roll actually print, and could you fill an Alex with these on what comes out of the box?
6:42 what a creative name! “Brick Ruler for Danish Plastic Bricks” lol
Makerworld doesn’t allow the use of the word LEGO 🤷♂️
Due to legal reasons you can not use another company's name for your own product, known as copyright, so Tiago did the right thing because otherwise the Lego Legal Department would have surely sent him a cease & desist letter.
"BRfDPB" for short

Or a quick color with an acrylic paint pen on top
For the lego ruler, I suggest putting teeth on one of the small sides, so that we can measure the brick height even if it's already built on top of plates.
Oh that is so awesome that you have these creations on the app! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Saves me a lot of time to do this myself.
You could add holders for brick separators on the end caps of the building trays.
this is one of the best sponsored videos i ever saw to be honest.
I know you mainly just make Lego videos but do you think you could make a video focused on the basics of a 3D printer?
Don’t tempt me into making a 3D printing channel!
Your work with the 3D printer to sort lego and assemble kits is just incredible and useful. Combined with the ALEX you have a perfect and convenient storage system!
I think some grey filter and more desperation over regular unpacking of the bag would be a nice touch.
Very nice job, Tiago! Thank you for sharing and for go further on LEGO ideas!
Gosh! These are so useful! I've been printing the Alex organisers and now these will be next in line - love them all.
This is a really great video, love what you have made here, now I never wanted or "needed" a 3D printer, but the stuff you have made with it... I also have the same drawer as you, thanks to a video you made a while back.
I use the crowbar to apply small stickers. I think a tool to apply stickers easier or some sort of sifter sorter would be cool
The studs measuring is briljant!!
I think you should add hash marks for plate heights along with the numbers for bricks, and if the slot for measuring 1-wide items is lined up with the 0 point, it'll be very handy for SNOT calculations

4:40 Bluebrixx also sells a version in a simular style of the old Lego ruler.
This is beyond helpful! I will start printing the sorting trays immediately. :)
Definitely printing these, especially the ruler!! Omg
Go for it!

I’d like to try the x1c as well looks to be even better in some aspects than the A1s. Enjoy your prints!
Thank you for sharing your designs, they will be so useful 😀
Great video Tiago i really like the lego ruler.
Thank you! Really proud of it!
That ruler looks really useful!
I love it!
Great stuff again, thank you!
It is amazing to see that this video make lot of views! Congratulations

Very helpful!!!🎉
Thanks for the inspiration.
For building trays I use a couple of the standard IKEA cutlery trays.

print some monorail tracks now!
Yea boy new video
Yay more 3d printable Lego utilities!! Keep it up I love them!
EDIT: quick question, what modeling program do you use?
Fusion 360 for the most part!

Bench scrapers are a cheap alternative to the scooper.
You are a genius Tiago!
Nice infomercial. Handy tools and bins
Those 3D printers are clever did good job there 👍
Thanks 👍
For the Lego scooper I feel like you could just use a dust pan
New SUB & Like and a big thank you how very nice of you! KOOL!!!
Could you add a ridge to the perimeter of the top of the lid, so that when stacking bins they won't slide around?
You talked me into a Bambu A1 with your last video. Got it set up today, I'm currently printing out some street terrain for board games.
That is awesome! Enjoy! I love my printers!
Tiago!! Have you considered opening up a shop and selling these for those of us who don’t have the space or money for a 3D printer but LOVE these designs!! 😁😁
I use a large clear baking dish when I open up and use each Lego bag…. :)

What a great video. Sadly I don't own and can't afford a 3d printer. Do you sell the modular tray system as I would love to buy it.

The scooper can also be the lid
