I dunno about Japanese kids I'm Chinese. And to us Chinese, we celebrate Lunar New Year. And whenever it's Lunar New Year, we Chinese kids get something called "Angpao" from our parents and our aunts/uncles(basically, married relatives) "Angpao" literally means red pack in the Hokkien dialect. Inside the "angpao" is money. We stop getting "angpao" when we get married because that is a status of being grown up Of course, we do get our weekly allowance from our parents. But the money we receive from the "angpao" given to us from our parents is something special we get every Lunar New Year Maybe Japanese kids are also like that. I dunno actually. But I'm pretty sure no parent would give a lump sum of money at the beginning of the year cuz that's just insane
Yeah, I suppose giving a lump sum of money to kids is crazy. In any case, it does seem like an angpao-like situation is whats happening here with Chika requesting money. So maybe youre right. The angpao sounds interesting and sweet though. Wish I had gotten something like that.
