Dadward giving us a life lesson. RIP Ken Block
Dude's put out some great life advice. Practical and useful. Loving this channel, gonna recommend this to my friends!
RIP Ken you will never be forgotten 👑
I'm calling it now, this channel will be past 500k subs by the time 2023 ends. Maybe even 700k+ if the content quality stays as is/increases.
Tedward is goated. Your Honda Civic Type R is really beautiful. Would be interesting to see a comparison video if any of your friends drive a Toyota GR Corolla, Hyundai Elantra/Veloster N, Subaru WRX STi, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Mazda 3 Turbo Hatchback AWD, and Ford Focus RS.
Just the word nebulizer makes my brain sigh. I spent the first 15 years of my life with one of those by my side. But hey the last 20 years of just keeping the inhaler nearby isn't so bad.
Good luck with the house hunt! About 3 years ago I made the plunge to move to the middle of nowhere North Carolina, and it's overall been a great experience. I did even manage to even get married in that time, thanks to meeting my lovely wife online and her being crazy enough to move to nowhere with me.
It was really fun House hunting in the style of has garage has internet. Nothing else matters. It really raised some eyebrows of realtors.
I moved to NC from California 7 years ago and I have absolutely zer0 regrets. Just sucks that alot of people from NY NJ FL CA and PE had the same idea as me.
You sound very much like myself!! I just turned 39 in November. I swear your 30's are like your wisdom years! My mind has changed perspective so much for the better in my 30's. Some of the best years in a way.
The debate of being in the sticks vs. near people is SO real. I love cars and being near friends, but I also love the forest and mountains lol. Still working through that. Have a good 2023 Tedward! One of my goals is to be more active on UA-cam...
The ending thoughts really resonated with me, it's great to do everything perfectly, run a beater in the winter and only run the main car in perfect weather, but what if something happens in the winter and now you can't enjoy the main car the next summer. Something similar (wasn't that awful, but still) happened to me and it really changed my view on material things. Yes you should take care of them, but you should also be able to fully enjoy them and not be scared of every little ding or scrach that it may or may not get
I fully agree with what you said about Ken Block, not to say he was “Asking for it” but he was more than willing to risk his life for a thrill. We will never forget him for that!
I think the thing people should take away from Ken's passing is how precious life is and how unpredictable it can be. We must enjoy our lives while we can and live without regrets. I survived a TBI 2 years ago after being hit by a car. I was extremely depressed after and I still suffer some symptoms from that injury. But I got back out there and never gave up because I know this is the only one life I have, and I have to make the most out of it.
I hope everyone has a healthy and great year and you smash your goals Tedward!
Thank you for all the words you say Ted! Love coming to your channel and feel like I've learnt something with each video. One of my goals this year is to get my dear Rover back on the road!
i'm loving all this type r content
Happy New Year!
I’ve been trying to learn more about cars recently. I just started watching 3 months ago and I’ve been able to glean a good amount of knowledge from this channel. Keep up the good work.
Love tedward, such a real dude
I ran my first half marathon and bought my first house in my mid-30s, so you’re resolutions hit close to home for me. Good luck with your goals. You’ll definitely got them with the positive attitude and realistic expectations you’ve set. Great words of wisdom while rowing the gears my man!
Appreciate this
happy new year! I feel like you are a good role model for younger people like me
Thank you for making this video ted, I've been beat up a little about ken block but this put a smile on my face seeing you enjoy your type r, and also when I saw the dash with the light diagrams and signals made me so intrigued
I love seeing the brakes and turn signals flash on the little car icon on the tach! Super cool!
Love this channel, your video on how to drive a Manual really helped me out understanding my instructor and understanding the car!
tedward the goat. best of luck this year my friend
I love these videos ! Thanks for giving us such good advices
As an asthmatic, I went through the same journey as you did, forcing myself to go running, even though I needed my inhaler, but now I can proudly say that I've been able to run 12,5 miles without needing it.
Also I think it's important to remind people that the goals they set for themselves need to be achievable because if not, it may result in major disappointments, it might even be depressing... and the whole setting goals thing gets pointless.
Anyways, thanks for the great content, and happy new year !
Thank you so much for your videos they make me so happy I love watching you and I learn so much and Im inspired thank you so much again god bless you 2023 is going to be great
Thank you for talking about this. My goals for 2023 are to travel, have more life experiences both with people I care about and independently. Basically, live more life. I think I did pretty ok in 2022 with this, so in '23 I intend to build upon it even more
Can’t wait to hear the new year podcast🎉🎉
Happy new year! Some good resolutions there and good advice too. I’m not one for resolutions either but this year I wanted to change that to actually better myself. Only 2 resolutions for me (lose 30 pounds through running and swimming, and get to an A1 level with learning Hungarian). Both goals are achievable and not overwhelming. Look forward to hear how you get on through the year!
love these type of videos
Haaapy New Year! Sorry to hear about Ken!
A half marathon is a great goal! If you find a training plan, and train consistently then that goal is completely in reach! Good luck and let us know how it goes!
Hello with love from Russia and Serbia! You are the real men!
Love the videos man, keep it up! 🔥🔥
great video! some great points in here
Title was right, that *was* a therapy drive. Never been the kind to really set new year's resolutions for myself but hey maybe I'll actually give it a shot this year with your advice. Happy 2023, Tedward!
OG ! life advice love your videos .
I'm looking forward to learn a lot of driving skills from you this year. One of my new year's goal is to get more comfortable driving a car, it's really stressful as a beginner. It is intimidating but I know I can do it. Please keep posting content that could help me achieve my goal #RespectTheDrive
Practise makes calm. I would get nervous at every stop light not it's second nature. Keep practicing and eyes on the road.
as an ex fk8 type R owner, current m owner, and porsche lover i gotta say ur taste in cars is impeccable
In 2023 I'll do a lot of things but one thing this video reminded me to do is to finally use the GoPro/binaural audio set-up to record my own videos
Well said!
NE Tennessee my man... those roads are calling me
I agree, you should enjoy the things you own while you can. I will say however, there are some winter beaters that are surprisingly enjoyable. I drive an Echo RS hatch for the winter and as a putt around car in the summer and I adore it. It’s super approachable and just easy.
Cheers to FWD sports sedans. Just picked up my Elantra N on the 2nd and love it so far. Hope you're enjoying your FL5 as well.
That gear knob with the red seats is pretty nice 👌
nice goal to run. I too had AWFUL hospitalization type asthma. Running is still hard, mountain biking is much easier on the lungs. I was able to get up to 8 miles or so running, and so I feel ya and totally get how difficult a half marathon goal is going to be. Good on you for making the goal and working towards it. On that note, I think a lot of people should be kind to themselves if they fail at meeting a goal. If you don't get to your half marathon goal and you tried your best in your heart of hearts, then that still counts in my mind!
It’s a good day when Tedward releases a drive therapy video
Handling-wise, the WS90 is solid for a winter tire. Winter traction-wise, they're legitimately amazing in both snow and ice.
yea honesty tedward videos are sick as fuck i love watching him after smoking he’s too real
oh yes! Can't wait to see this car weekly on the channel lol ok - maybe not weekly but as often as you can please :)
I have really wanted a Tedward sticker lately. Hurry up and get that merch shop running!
Gotta start hitting those tempo runs!
My friend bought a house in Halifax that was fairly reasonable and needed some work be done. A bit far away but is a very nice area and quiet
Happy new year Tedward, looking forward to fat guy sized merch😃
Haha text me your size soon so I make sure I have stock when I place orders!
RIP Ken Block and Ken Miles. KENNETH LEGENDS!
I recommend the boston athletic association half marathon training plan 3 different difficulty levels based on your running experience/confidence. Currently training for one too! Good luck!
Congratulations on your new car. It reminds me of the BMW F34 grand tourismo (GT) only a bit smaller.
Loved the luxury lane Seinfeld reference.
I hope you get the house. Even if you have to go a little further out, get in the market. Home equity and interest deductions will get you there sooner than continued rent payments. I wanted to move to Lexington when I was 30 (1983). I couldn't afford a tiny Cape house their so I went to Acton and bought a condo instead..Not there anymore but it paid off when I sold it.
It was refreshing to hear someone who wants to accomplish a few things realistically instead of a laundry list of things they'll never do. Best of Luck!!!
When tedward said put your headlights on -- after talking about quitting his engineering job -- I thought he was speaking, figuratively, about reconsidering our daily income generation commitments a d career/life choice decisions. Then, I realized he meant that literally.
I don't have goals, Goals have me
Ooh I want tedward merch
Definitely you need the garage... err house. Looking forward what you will get
haha its incredible when I set the "2 car garage" filter on Zillow and watch all the dots disappear from the map
Came here for type r. Left with some key life advice.
Just wanted to say great video again. I visited New England for December (from the UK) to see my girlfriend and it was absolutely beautiful. Better roads in my opinion too 🤣. I'd recommend anyone reading this to visit if they can! Take it easy and hang in there 🤗
What you said about the CTR in the winter, something I think about every day living in the midwest. I put my M5 and my RX8 up every winter for 5-6 months because they have zero rust and I've rebuilt both of them myself. Life is too short and I should just drive it, but on the other hand why would I ruin something I've put so much work into maintaining. Finally put winter wheels on the rx8 because the winter car is falling apart, and it's been enjoyable. Still not risking the M5 though haha
Enjoyed the drive and the conversation 👍 What state are you driving around? Roads look nice
Haha I love when you rant about stuff like people not using their headlights. That’s me every day.
It's a beaut Clark!
"Use it" is right!! Last time I checked, there weren't that many cars that were engineered to sit. I'm pretty sure most cars are engineered to be driven. Thankfully, someone else also invented water, soap, and tools so that we can maintain the cars and continue to use them.
Hey Tedward, Happy New Year. I just started driving and have been recently looking at jeeps as a first car. Would you be able to do a drive and tour of a manual 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sport. It's the one with 2 doors and a soft top. All the video i find are from years ago but it would be nice to see a newer video on it from more than a decade ago. Thanks man keep up the great content.
man that dash is so well designed, what a relief and a breath of fresh air against all kinds of monstrous designs in modern cars. oh yeah, and those awful tablets nonsense (yuck!)
My “therapy drives” are in my ‘20 STI.
I was surprised to find out a little while back that US cars don’t have standard auto daytime lights.
I have a new year resolution for us all! Let's all push Honda into making a rally car!! Can you guys imagine how fantastic would it be to have Honda in WRC? I wonder how could they never have thought of this. Their cars look so good into rallying.
I did a half marathon once, it was good. I probably jogged 5 miles total, and fast walked the rest. it's achievable. anyway, these days, I only run when chased. good luck.
Good to wake up to
I am thankful to have outgrown my asthma at a relatively young age - I played a lot of soccer growing up. I CAN however relate to the nebulizer 💀😂
until I was 8 or 9 I spent every Christmas on a nebulizer at about 5am....until my parents realized the Christmas tree triggered my lungs to seize up. Fake trees and happy holidays ever since lol
Thanks again for another great video! Are you planning on getting the type r undercoated?
You should get clips of the exhaust from behind, it seems like the exhaust flap is 1-1 with the throttle possibly from what I saw on throttle house.
Insightful as always Tedward. In 2023 I want to adopt a highway and make some luxurious lanes 😂
Recommend the book Breath, by James Nestor for all us asthmatics out there!
Having dealt with a few poor local mechanics, losing money and a Summer of driving, I'm investing into better tools and maybe even a set of quickjacks so I can do it myself.
as a homeowner myself, I tell the young generation, look for owning a house as your one of your first goals before thinking on getting a new car.
Great point about actually using your stuff. I've found that letting cars sit and never get driven is a great way to ruin them. Even in a perfectly climate controlled environment, sitting will wear out seals and bearings and all kinds of other things. So get out and use your pristine car unless you want it to have issues on that rare day you do take it out
ctrl+w
As much of a gearhead as I am, I've done 2 Ironman's and at least a dozen marathons and over a dozen 1/2 Mary's . Best advice I can dole out is the 80/20 training regimen. Meaning 80% of your runs should be at conversation pace or slightly below, the other 20 at high effort near vo2max which you can figure out what yours is by doing a simple threshold test . Plenty of interweb references and easier if you have an apple watch with HR monitor .
The slow runs are important as that is what build mitochondria, something very important to have plenty of, especially if you had or still have asthma . Westfield 1/2 and Steel Rail 1/2 are both in Mass and are outstanding races .
BTW- I was going to say hello to you a few yrs ago at Monticello, you and friend were out there in a Bianco pearl GTC4 Lusso , but I couldn't break away from a conversation.
I enjoy your content, hope you have a great 1/2 marathon and good luck with becoming a 1st time homeowner !!
Thanks Michael! Definitely reinforces my training plan. And Great memory of Monticello. It was a lot of fun driving out there in the Lusso. Hope to cross paths again
I have yet to try out my winter set in the snow since my car was in the shop last snow storm here in Boston😅 Curious to see how my car drives and the limits of it
I want a t shirt! I’m looking forward to the merch store
6:10 oops, I might have done exactly that with my house... I does have a big garage through.😆
Qualify for Boston 🎉
RIP Ken Block 🙏
My 2023 goal is to finish my Factory Five 818 so you can drive it in a video!! I'm local.
I would like to see you build a car in the future Tedward
Need me some Tedward merch 😉
Nice video! How is the Civic Type R in the rain? And how is it as a daily compared to the new WRX?
love the vid but god damn why do the wipers for 1 sec at the end
What are your 2023 Goals?
Build more muscle, lose a little fat. Get better at my side hustles. These have always been my constant "ambience" for life past couple of years. Also, thanks for being so respectful and explaining it maturely about Ken's passing.
dont die, move out of my parents house, keep working on my projects, be brave enough to take action towards some desires
Read everyday
Actually getting my Type R delivered, hopefully in time. Wise words on Ken Block as well…
lose some weight, build up my savings, and buy a truck
