I think the romance genre has become so common and alike that it becomes hard to pick books apart from each other 😂 they kinda all just mush together and it really takes a unique concept or characters with a lot of depth to truly get you invested in the story
I prefer stories that ARENT romance stories but have romance in them. Those tend to have to most realistic and unique situations with romance plus a lot of other entertaining stuff that isn't just reellaaattiiiooonnnssshhhiiipppssss😮💨
I think that's my very most hated trope. When every single issue in a plot can be resolved if people communicated even like 1% of their thoughts or feelings to the other person. It drives me crazy and I scream. Cut the BS and just tell the truth and be happy, rah! haha
Thank you for the feedback. I've DNF 2 books in the past 2 days and my BFF, unlike me, is committed to finishing whenever she starts a book. So you're reasoning behind DNF is appreciated. Happy reading. 🎄📚✨
I’m your BFF It’s like I have this totally unrealistic hope that the book will get better even tho it obviously won’t. But it’s enough to get me thru the book😭
An amazing author who has 2 Christmas books out that are AMAZING, the romance without the steam, which we love to see it lol I HATE steamy books. The author is Emily Stone and the 2 books are Always in December and The Last Gift. If you haven’t read these do yourself a favor a grab them. I couldn’t put them down. ❤❤❤❤
Books she read -All I want for Christmas by maggie knox -So this is Christmas by Jenny holiday -Blame it on the mistletoe by Beth garrod -There’s something about Merry by Codi Hall -Things we never got over by Lucy Score
I truly love and appreciate that you include if there’s spice in the books, it helps me determine if a book is worth reading or not! Just cause I prefer to read books without, or at the very least if it’s minimal. And I just really appreciate the heads up so I don’t go in blind lol
Haley!!! I'm reading Holiday Romance by Catherine Walsh and I think you would love it because of things you've said you like about romance books in the past 😊 It's really cute and christmassy, the spicy chapters are quite short and you can skip them easily. It's short, the romance is pretty realistic and mature in my opinion and is set in the week of Christmas. ❤
I feel like romances these days are usually one cliche line away from cringey half the time but you definitely give out great recommendations so I’ve started to like them more 😊 thanks for another great vlog ❤
you should read icebreaker! it was seriously amazing and it literally has a communication trope. like they don't just have one conversation, it's a continuous effort to communicate their feelings. and they are in college which made it almost unbearable to read romances with people 5 years older than them who act like toddlers.
The only book that i read without the miscommunication trope was Archer’s Voice and it was so perfect to actually see them talking about the problems and trying to find a way to resolve them :) i will always recommend that book !!!
If you’re looking for more Christmas romances. I heard “one day in December” by Josie Silver is really good. And I also read “jingle wars” by R. Holmes which gave all the Christmas vibes you ever want.
Christmas recs- Lovelight Farms by B.K. Borison (some spice), The Bromance Book Club (books 1,3, and 5 set around Christmas) by Lyssa Kay Adams (some spice), A Cross-Country Christmas by Courtney Walsh (no spice) If you want a book that actually has healthy communication 😂, The Co-op by Tarah DeWitt
Petition for you to read Christmassy/wintery Fantasy books. E.g. the Enchanted Sonata, Green glass house, midnight in everwood, castle in the clouds You might find some books you LOVE in that list
Lovelight Farms is the it girl Christmas book of the year for me!! I loved that book I thought it was perfect! If it were a regular romance I would’ve loved it but I loved it just as much for being a Christmas book. The main character owns a Christmas tree farm and she’s in love with her best friend who she has to fake date for a social media challenge to save the farm. It’s very hallmark but with better banter & more believable chemistry! There’s like some spice but if I remember correctly it was mostly just the “lead up” and the rest was off the page?
haley you need to read faking christmas and christmas spark by cindy steel!! there is actual communication and they have such good banter in both !! they are also both closed door and the christmas spark is super short but i was still very invested
YES WHY DONT PEOPLE TALK?!? I Think that about almost every romance scenario in the books I read. HF, fiction, thrillers..etc. real humans have so much more dialogue. It wouldn’t detract from the anticipation or suspense- there could still be conflict and resolution and twists but with people just talking more. Like we actually do. Lol
Hi Haley good morning happy Friday morning and happy vlogmas day and happy December and happy winter season and I loved your channel and your vlogs is amazing
Can you please do a recommendations video for books with low spice levels? I don't want to read books that have all the details. for reference, the only Francine Rivers' I have read so far is A Voice in the Wind, that was an acceptable level for me as far as the implied spicyness goes. Thanks! And I would love a nonfiction recommendations video!
You should check out a cross country Christmas! It’s closed door, brothers best friend and close proximity trope!! I haven’t heard anyone say a bad thing about it yet
thank you for your honesty with books :D. i really appreciate that even if you don't love books, you're not super rude about it, but you also don't avoid the topic. makes me feel better when i don't like popular books :)
I have tons of wacky and quirky Christmas romcoms written as BETH GOOD - and most of them are pretty short, so only take a few hours to read, maybe less. I love romcoms, they make me laugh so hard! (Probably shouldn't laugh at my own jokes, right? Yet here we are...) x
I am currently reading the Santa suit it has only 207 pages and it has romance but not too much of it. Then I have 3 other books on my December tbr which are the holiday romance, the Mistletoe bet, and there is something about Merry
I bought all I want for Christmas in like October and was waiting for December to read it, and saw you had made a video reviewing it. I wanted to read it for myself before I watched your video. I finished the book a couple hours ago and I had the exact same thoughts as you…it was a fun experience…thank you
I would like to recommend The Merchant's Daughter, The Healer's Apprentice, The Fairest Beauty, and The Captive Maiden. They are all romance stories that are sort of retellings of fairy tales. All of their stories intertwine, and I recommend that you read them in the order that I put them in. They are Christian and they go through ALL the tropes! First book, enemies to lovers (sort of), second book, friends to lovers, third book, the bodyguard trope with the "only one bed/blanket this cold night". Haven't read the final book, but I am looking forward to it! I know you like romance, and I would love it if you would try these out! They're all by Melanie Dickerson
If you want another grumpy x grumpy romance, i recommend from lukov with love from mariana zapata, its iceskating slowburn, 5/5 star read (some things are weird, like his nickname for her, but if you look past that its very nice)
A great book with COMMUNICATION between the them is THE BLOOD SPELL, it is a young adult fantasy romance. A cinderella retelling. Literally amazing communication!!!
Can you do a read with me video??? Where you literally just sit and read in front of the camera, so that we can put in the background and it'll feel like we're reading with you 😁 Love u ❤
The author of There's Something About Merry has another Christmas romance called Nick & Noel's Christmas Playlist that is kind of a companion novel to that one! It's decently cute!
I really appreciate the length of your content. A perfect amount of videos in a month and nice 8-10 min videos. Other youtubers have content overload with video a day and 30 min lengths and I can't stand it
i highly recommend you read Always in December by Emily Stone!!! it’s definitely worth the read!! i just finished it and as someone who doesn’t really like the romance genre, i really liked this book
I just read a Christmas book called a soul as cold as frost! You need to read it! It’s fantasy and it’s reminiscent of Narnia and Harry Potter! It’s a series! I absolutely loved it!!
You got me back into reading, and into fantasy and romance somehow, I was always into the same storyline just with different characters. Then I started binging your book videos and your review of ACOTAR is when it clicked in my head that maybe if I try something new then I will want to read again. You also got me into Colleen Hoover (I just got my mom into it, now we have a mini book club with just us two for Colleen Hoover books)
I think the romance genre has become so common and alike that it becomes hard to pick books apart from each other 😂 they kinda all just mush together and it really takes a unique concept or characters with a lot of depth to truly get you invested in the story
That's why i don't read romance books anymore, they are all the same.
I prefer stories that ARENT romance stories but have romance in them. Those tend to have to most realistic and unique situations with romance plus a lot of other entertaining stuff that isn't just reellaaattiiiooonnnssshhhiiipppssss😮💨
@@rachmaninovwasemo2313 could you please suggest me a few.. Thank you
@she's such an actress YES i definitely agree
To be fair I feel like there is only so much you can do with the genre...
I think that's my very most hated trope. When every single issue in a plot can be resolved if people communicated even like 1% of their thoughts or feelings to the other person. It drives me crazy and I scream. Cut the BS and just tell the truth and be happy, rah! haha
@desertrosereads Really though. I hope people in real life aren't this pathetic haha
We appreciate your consistency, Haley. We will always support you no matter what happens.
Couldn’t agree more! She’s the best ❤
No better way to start the day than to read with Haley Pham💛✨
Agreed ❤
I appreciate Haley so much for her yt accounts. Love to binge them every now and then
Agreed ❤

Thank you for the feedback. I've DNF 2 books in the past 2 days and my BFF, unlike me, is committed to finishing whenever she starts a book. So you're reasoning behind DNF is appreciated. Happy reading. 🎄📚✨
I’m your BFF
It’s like I have this totally unrealistic hope that the book will get better even tho it obviously won’t. But it’s enough to get me thru the book😭
I love Haley’s content so much, I love every video concept she has
