I visited the Titanic graveyard in Halifax Canada a couple of years back and our tour guide told us a very spooky story... Our tour guide was actually a Titanic victim's grand child... She said that her grandfather worked on the Titanic as a cole shovler in the cole bunkers of the Titanic... Her story goes that one night her grandmother woke up because she felt a presence. That she had seen a shadow standing at the foot of her bed. The shadow was dripping wet and crying. She then recognised the shadow which was her husband... She then said, you are dead aren't you... He nodded yes, and vanished... His body was never found...

This kind of thing is done all the time? Yes and no. Titanic is a unique case that we can’t just compare to other disasters above the sea.
The issue is they aren’t treating the items or the wreck with great care and respect. Furthermore, is looting a graveyard ever respectful? Would you do it to 9/11 survivors graves? Would you steal shoes worn by those who passed on 9/11? Some things are just sacred and shouldn’t be tampered with, regardless of how much time has passed.
They are destroying the deck of the Titanic, as evidenced by the damage done to the deck. They are also leaving copious amounts of trash on and around the Titanic.
I do agree, we should preserve as much as we can. However, it’s getting to the point that more harm is being done, and we already have so many artifacts.
We wouldn’t dig up graves, loot the contents, and leave trash in the place of what we stole in any other situation.

Here's my opinion on the artifacts being taken: the artifacts are probably the last thing anyone will remember of those individuals, otherwise their names would fade away into nothing. Those shoes will be tangible evidence to teach others never to take life for granted, never to overlook the importance of safety, and never to forget. If a "greedy corporation" is trying to make an impact like that, then great, take my money. This exhibition came to my county 10 years ago and I paid to see it, and walked away with my eyes opened. The exhibit was a beautiful way to remember the people that died that night.

I have been to see the artifacts twice. It gives you such a sense of what they suffered. It benefits no one on the ocean floor. We take items off Roman wrecks and other ancient wrecks. Those people are long dead. If you think about it someone has died in battles around the world and in cities as well. If we make everywhere hollow ground where someone died, we have no place for the living to live. My grandmother died on our living room sofa. perhaps we should have made the sofa hallowed ground and never sat on it again. When my parents sold the house to make room for a shopping center, then that spot should have been hollowed as a memorial to her. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers and civilians died in WW1&WW2 on the soil of France. A lot of it on farmers' fields. After the war farmers should not have been allowed to go back and farm their fields. They were planting their crops on hollowed ground. These people invested their money in this project to recover these items that were lost to everyone's eyes; and are entitled to make a living from it. At the same time, they have made millions aware of this terrific tragedy. I say bravo to them for saving these things for future generations to see and appreciate.

There's an entire unspoken or hidden "dark side" to anyone even being able to HAVE such artifacts on exhibition, whether it's in Las Vegas or anywhere else.
For every OUNCE retrieved by a submersible during an expedition almost 2½ miles beneath the surface of the North Atlantic, where the final resting place of the Titanic has been for over a Century now, they've been forced to leave behind an equal weight in junk on the ocean floor, otherwise they wouldn't be buoyant enough for the return to the surface at all.
So, now that literally hundreds of pounds of artifacts have been systematically taken from the wreck site since Titanic's discovery in 1985, there's been a steadily growing amount of equivalent weight left behind at the bottom.
Mostly stuff like chains, barrels, or other industrial waste has been left littering the area, to rust away along with the wreck herself, so people can bring as much back from what is effectively a graveyard as they can.
It would be like grave robbers leaving behind a hole in the ground filled with garbage. Literally.
We wouldn't tolerate such behavior on dry land, there's NO reason we should treat the Memorial site that is Titanic any different than any other Cemetery or place of reverence for the dead up here, on the surface.
It's arguably too high a price to pay for the opportunity to bring back what many believe should be left at the wreck in the first place.
Whatever side of the issue one falls upon is of course a matter of personal opinion.
But, one thing is NOT in dispute; Every fragile little White Star Line tea cup that's recovered from the Ocean floor now has a corresponding piece of garbage left behind in its place of equal weight.
And, because the Titanic wreck site is more than just a shipwreck, slowly turning into a rusty stain on the Ocean floor, over 1,500 souls are essentially buried at sea all around her mangled hull as well.
Making the area a vast underwater Graveyard, in every sense of the word.
To some that's anything BUT a fair trade.

@@ilyasg2108 It's how a ROV works. In order to get it down there it needs weight. In order to get it back up, it needs to get rid of that weight. Some of the ocean exploration teams often have to use tiles as weights. There are also some ROV's that don't need to use weights but I can imagine those not having to deal with carrying a load back up to the surface.

I used to have reservations about artefacts and parts of the ship being raised for documentation, studying, preservation and display.
Yes, the area is, for some, spiritually a graveyard. We know people died in the ship, drowned on the surface, sank and dotted the space around the wreck like confetti. We know this because of the pairs of shoes and treated clothes and leatherware their bodies left behind, long after their flesh was consumed by other organisms and/or decomposed, and their bones inevitably dissolved by minerals and other bacteria.
The body is gone, and has been for a long time.
Could you take an artefact from within the vicinity of the ‘grave’ of one of these victims? My opinion would be yes. An artefact touching the clothing remains of a victim? Personally I don’t know, but I think I’m subtly leaning toward yes.
To put this in context, think of the 9/11 Museum in New York. They have on display, tastefully and respectfully, the remnant remains of personal artefacts that belonged to people whose lives ended in some of the most horrible of ways. Items that were in their pockets, items they used, items they wore as they burned or shattered to pieces via impact.
Am I saying we should plunder the ship of all its archaeology and leave but shoes and clothes on the ocean floor? No. Be respectful, be considerate, but also think to the future. Events like these are rare, and these historic items are degrading faster than ever. Ultimately we aren’t raising these artefacts just for us, but for the countless generations ahead in the centuries to come.

When certain says " that's a grave don't touch that ", i say lol because nothing left under sea water , even the bones was scavanged by little worms .
To see where are the dead of the Titanic look at the enourmous number of pairs of shoes around the wreck , this is what remains from them today .
And when you realise that , you can imagine the 48h after spectacle around the wreck , with drowned cadavers everywhere .
Now i think it's time to save all the artefact on the ship , because the wreck will end up collapsing on itself and all will be lost.
I don't know if Radio Marconi is salvageable, but maybe the technology is unique and more advanced than us despite our powerful computers, so going to salvage it isn't stupid, on the contrary; there is an Autonomous Electric Car in the holds of the Ship as well & Lot of interesting stuff , the list of goods is known, but they will not have fun making it public otherwise all the treasure hunters will want to seize it, but if the front hold have resisted, it's the Jackpot...
We could confirm or invalidate the theory of smoldering fires, also in the front right coal bunker.
It would take a wireless underwater drone capable of withstanding the pressure, with powerful batteries offering it enormous autonomy, lights, different types of cameras, to explore the interior of the wreck and find out if it is salvageable. as some say or not, before going to break everything.
P.S : But know one thing, all the wrecks that are less than 60 meters deep, except those that are in areas far from all human life , are completely empty or almost, looted by amateur divers from year to year, in the Bikinis. is downright whole wrecks of the second world war which flew away entirely there remains nothing not even the bottom of the hull, In Hong Kong Bay, the wreck of the Queen Elizabeth is under surveillance today because they have already stolen two of the propellers and 30% of its hull.
