How to make a Remembrance Day Poppy Wreath in Art Club with Miss Burford

Here is a Poppy Wreath art project to show a mark of respect for Remembrance day ( or Veterans' Day) and I am going to show you how to make it in Art Club for Miss Burford. It is important to remember 11th November and to talk about why that date is so important so this is an approrpriate project to do in the lead up to 11 / 11.
This Remembrance Day project can be adapted for all ages between 4-11 year olds but younger children will need more prep doing for them. Prep required is shown on the video but 8 years + prep only takes 5-10 mins whereas prep for younger children can take 30 mins.
This Primary School Art lesson takes 30-45 mins to make and then requires a day for the PVA glue to dry completely.
I will break down how to adapt the lesson for different ages:
4-5 year olds:
-Cut paper plate for them
-Draw leaf template for them/print out leaf template (12 leaves in total)
-Use the cupcake cases as they are.
6-7 year olds:
-Cut the paper plate for them
-They can draw their own leaves
-Use the cupcake cases as they are
8-11 year olds:
-They can cut their own paper plate, leaving you with just the banners to print for prep.
-They can draw their own leaves
-Cut the cupcake cases into a flower shape, you could even use 16 cupcake cases per child and double up the layers of cupcakes to create layers of petals on the flowers.
Remembrance day pays respect to an important part of our history and this art lesson is perfect for combing art and history together. These wreaths look great as part of a wall display or you can hang them on a window or a door. This is a lovely wreath to make to take home in art club too.
