    I'm Swedish and every year (well last year was an exception) people from Thailand come to Sweden to pick blue berries for profit. The problem is that one of our most poisonous mushrooms is very easily mistaken for a mushroom that grows in Thailand - that is edible. Within three days after eating our mushroom the liver stops functioning.

    Another contributing factor to why the Death Cap is so deadly is that, according to people who've eaten them and survived, it tastes kind of sweet therefore causing the victim to eat more of them and ingesting even higher quantities of the poison.

      @@Beth_Amphetamine Now that you mention that does sound familiar. If I'm not mistaken the poison comes from the plants and/or animals they live on. An article I just read says that wild-caught frogs can maintain toxicity for some time. Like you said domesticated frogs do not have the poison but depending on the diet they can absorb it, so care must be taken with a caged frog so as to minimize harmful alkaloids. Not harmful to him, to human.

      My home-Ec teacher stressed the danger of killing people with botulism so much that 35 years later I am still afraid to start canning my garden produce. Then the neurologist tells me: “I think the best thing for your migraines is to shoot your head, neck, and face full of botulinum toxin on a recurring basis. Mrs. Schultz would like you to know side effects may include your horrible death.” He may not have phrased it quite that way.

    Strychnine is horrible horrible stuff, we used to use it on the farm to poison gophers and mice and similar little critters. It smells like black licorice and we got ours as a clear liquid. What makes it so horrible is how you die, my dad had a little bit on his hands and after washing his hands way later that day he used his hands to scoop water from the rain barrel to drink, The little bit he had left was enough to have him screaming on the ground seizuring like an epileptic. By the time we got him to the hospital he was almost back to normal so the doc said it must have been a very small amount but to this day he says it's the most painful thing by a factor of 10 that he's ever experienced and really scared the crap out of us kids.

      @@jaredbackus1416, don't joke about. That sentence about honey and Chlostridium bothulinium is true. I know this fact from more than 15years. Bothulinium is even in the soil, is pretty everywhere but in substances with very little mix of oxigen they can thrive and develop properly. So, bothulinium from soil is not toxic, but the same bacteria from a can of non-pasteurised can of meat can kill you.

      Why is that a common thing amongst teachers? And they constantly try to come close to your table in elementary school and get near you and the bad breath almost knocks you over, and then you go home n tell Mom and Dad and they say, "well hunny you'll just have to deal with it! Just look away!" Bwahahahaha!!! What s joke! Especially when they hover over little ones constantly! So you may just wish to tell kids early to spray so ñme cologne or perfume on their sleeve and put it bear their face for comfort. Lol! That's what I did!! I'll never ever forget this old substitute teacher named Mr. Bryant!! He was mean and his breath was kickin' and you could smell him coming! He gets the gold medal 🏅 for the worst breath I ever had to smell! Just straight poopy!! 💩🤢

This compound is definitely of lower toxicity than Ricin (LD5O of Ricin is approximately 6 micrograms/kg body weight,injected dose). Cicutoxin has an LD50 of 2.8 milligrams /kg of body weight.,which means it requires about 500 times more Cicutoxin.

I knew they were poisonous and so did all the kids. So we usually use them as projectiles for our own version of "snowball" fight. Heck, folks over here basically use these trees as decorations for landscaping; as for kids, a cheap and fun way to literally die for.

    Very good information. Whilst hunting poachers in Africa I drank water from a hot spring. Long story short, life for me 2 days later was near the end, fortunately I got evacuated. The locals gave me a poison of two drops a day to keep me alive or kill me for a week as an antidote. 3 drops were deadly, these good people knew the poison antidote and one month later I walked again. My blood was later sent to South Africa for Analysis and they suggested a very rare toxic pathogen that I had injested.

    Wow, so Walter and Jesse would have been deep in Mexico by the time Tuco died. Walter would have known this too, being the brilliant chemist he is. Plot Hole?

    • @XRezZzoN
      @XRezZzoN 9 років тому +21

      not at all. their original plan was to set up a meeting with tuco to poison him with their "new" meth recipe, then leave and wait for tuco to die (as opposed to tuco dying within half an hour, in which case tucos buddies would surely be able to recognize whos responsible for their bosses death and avenge him), but they were abducted before they could do that.
      now, if u were in walters position, why wouldnt u try poisoning tuco, even if he was going to take u to mexico? i mean, he could easily kill u (or jesse) if he had one of his "phases" and is still posing a threat to everyone around him.

    The more I watch these videos the more I come to believe that Nature is really just one big free-for-all. As human beings we sometimes make the mistake of imposing logic on the natural world; we look at it or refer to it as if it's a unified, singular being, and that's a mistake. "Nature" is rudderless, reactive, without focus other than the most basic of principles: survival at all costs.

      That sounds like logic to me.
