Well, the difference between an ES335 and a Tele is clear: the 335 doesn’t cut through the mix like the Tele does! Lack of brightness all the way.
That's the difference between a humbucker and a single coil pickup.
Might as well be called a fault of the mixer / sound guy. Should have turned it up a few dB and given somewhat more treble.The sound balance ist not something given by nature.
