"Blessed are those who give without remembering and those who receive without forgetting." She may have paid for the wheel but you willingly gave your talent to this lady who will not forget what you did for her.
@EngelsCoachShop It's always the "Lill-Old-Ladies" that getYa ;) Thanks for another great and enjoyable video, that was one beautiful little wheel. Best regards.
I used to build bicycle and motorcycle wheels, so I get what you're saying about redundancy. But, I for one do not tire of watching you build buggy wheels. As I watch I try to envision how it was done before power tools were available. To you and those that came before you: respect.
I don't know about anyone else but I enjoy watching Dave build new wheels. He truly is a master of his craft! Thank you for helping to preserve the past and those special memories all of us old people cherish.
I do to...every time he mentioned he does not do that anymore I get a little sad... I understand but I just so enjoyed it.. If I ever need to make a wheel I know who I'll turn to to watch how it's done...no where else on the internet can be as good as Dave's
Dave you’re a true gentleman. Taking the time to care for our elder ones! And the “half” wheel wall hanger turned out great! I’m guessing I’m not the only one who kinda wants one too!?✌🏻❤️🇺🇸
I think I understand your feelings towards wheel building but I just want to echo what others have already said: There is ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE that I would ever consider watching you build wheels to be redundant or even remotely undesirable! While I thoroughly enjoy watching you do just about anything requiring your level of craftsmanship and dedication to the trade, I'm especially captivated by both the science behind being a wheelwright and your personal application of the considerable knowledge and skills you carry around inside your brain. If I could only watch one UA-cam channel I have no doubt it would be this one. As always Dave: a sincere thank you for allowing us along on this wonderful journey of yours.
You are so dedicated to your work, it's just amazing. You could have easily cut a few corners, and it would have been just fine. But, you built it like it would be a working wheel.
Hi Dave and Diane ☺ granny will be realy pleased whith her new/ old wheel, you've made a good job of it Dave, hope your all doing ok, thanks for another interesting video, stay safe, best wishe's to all, Stuart and Megan UK.
One of the best parts of your video's is all the unique tools and machines in your shop so you are able to do the work you do. When you stop making wheels and tires, all of those tools just sit there not being used. So it is great to see you remaking aquaintances with all of your old friends. I can't help but feel that they missed you.
Well done Dave , you have made many more people happy besides the Grandma as we all got to witness the magic of creating another Dave Engels wheel, I could never tire of watching you building wheels, thank you.
Don't worry about us being bored with you making another wheel. We all appreciate your craftsmanship so much it doesn't matter if we've seen it before. There isn't anything much better than watching someone at the top of their game doing what they do best. Obviously, if you become bored with it, stop, but don't think your viewers feel the same.
😊 Dave you are a true legend in the wheelright world. A master of all things wooden wagon or carriage or buggy. You are such a gentlemen she as and you said yes. Keep on doing what you are doing. God Bless America.
I can understand you not wanting to do any more wheels. I, on the other hand, never tire of watching you make them. Of course I enjoy watching you do other things too. Doing this wheel just goes to show you truly are a nice guy.👍👍(We "You Tuber's" already knew that.) It's a great looking wheel. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
It may be old hat to you but it's still nice to see hands that move with skill and sureness. And nice that you did something that will mean so much to her.
No matter how many times and no matter how repetitious doing wheels teaches me every time and I enjoy it. I live in NC and think every time you say you don't do wheels I'd move to Montana if you said you'd put me to work. For me I think it would be a plus in two ways. I could learn wheel wright and I'd live in Montana.
Hi Dave, I am sure when I speak for all your followers,' We never tire of watching your wonderful range of skills , whatever you do.' Many thanks from Nr Liverpool UK.
Not that I need a wheel made but who's going to take your place when you're gone? I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you build these wheels and wagons. You are a true craftsman.
After watching your channel for over 5 years now, I still don't get tired of the occasional wheel video. Don't think you need to stop your wheelwright business on behalf of youtube.
This is a true testament to your work ethic! This a decorative wheel for a woman who, God willing, will enjoy it for 10 or 15 years, but you constructed like it was going on a wagon for real use (minus a shortened hub!). You, sir, are a National Treasure! Thank you for archiving your knowledge for the craftsmen yet to come!
No matter how many wheels you have built, I never get tired of watching you build or repair one. I wish you would reconsider your decision on stopping your building of wheels. Building the wheel is one thing, but to watch a craftsman in the process is another. Thank you
It would take someone with a really cold heart to tell an 80 year old Grandma no. This is one of those things ya just do, whether you really want to or not. And the greatest reward will be the smile on her face, cause that's one fine lookin wheel.
Dave I’ve watched every one of your videos more than once and love them all . I’ll never get tired of watching you make wheels, wagons, or buggies. It’s ez to watch an artist
I still enjoy watching you make a wheel. Even though I have seen many of your videos it is still a pleasure. And that new old wheel will make a nice decoration. A kind good turn for a neighbour.
I know you don't do wheels anymore, But thanks you for doing one more for the 80 year old women . I'm sure it made her day , and kitchen remodel look great. Your the best!!! 👍
Well Dave you made an 80 year old lady happy, and by the sounds and looks of all the comments a lot of viewers too. myself included. I have watched you make wheels not for the better part of few years now. (back to and just prior to the Borax wagons. and still am fascinated and enjoy the process. each wheel tho Identical in many ways for some reason to me has its own character and design elements. it never gets old to me. But then again. I'm 80 years old also so does not take much to keep me occupied. thanks for sharing. ECF
I don't get bored with the wheel building videos. I build wire wheels for bicycles on a regular basis and as repetitive as the job is, it's still one of those skills you get to remain smug about, even if it's not as complicated as it appears.
Like everyone else, I'll watch you build another wheel anytime, and every time you get coerced into doing one. I especially like your antiquing techniques, and your attention to making a functional decoration. Well done, Dave!!!
What a shame that beautiful wheel will never be used as intended but she will see it everyday and it will make her happy so mission accomplished. Keep up the great work Dave!
For Dave to put as much effort into something that's going to hang on the wall as he does for an actual functional structural wheel speaks volumes about his craftsmanship.
I’m just finishing a complete interior remodel of a 140 yr old farm house. The client wants an old farm house, not a new house that looks old. Unfortunately certain things cannot be saved, like the door threshold that was so warn down it had only splinters holding the two sides together. I took a section of the old salvages flooring from upstairs and made a new threshold complete with the diagonal wear pattern the the clients grandfather had worn into every doorway in the house. I feel like I know that old foot dragger in some way. We matched his trim work and kept to his original style in the new addition to the house. The family had an open house last weekend for friends and family to see what we’ve been up to. All are please with how we kept everything original… even though the entire house was gutted back to the studs. I’ll take that as a compliment. Nice job on the wheel.
For those that don't have a sandblaster, a wire brush wheel does the same job, taking out more of the soft grain and leaving the harder, giving the same weathered character. Many people do it this way to make "old barn wood" for picture frames, etc. Great job, Dave. It really looks nice...an old wheel that's been taken care of.
But wear a face mask. I did that on a job where we wire wheeled all the Timbers on the job. Spent weeks wire wheeling. Those wheels are no joke though. Wear a mask!
As a volunteer at a heritage museum I have seen wheels built in my physical presence. Believe me, it never gets " old" or boring. Thank you for sharing. Because it is to be a decorative piece only, many would have taken every shortcut possible. BUT David didn't. His professionalism showed through.
The wheel work videos are my favorite videos to watch . I am suffering table saw envy. Fortunately, I don't have space for one like yours. My work area is filled with mostly warn out tools that I purchase new . I need to start moving them to new homes because of my advanced years, but every time I decide to start disposing of toolsand equipment, a project comes up, causing me to use the items I was about to liquidate. Just last week, I found myself purchasing replacement toolsfor some that no longer functioned to do a job I needed to get done. I no longer purchase the top quality, just good enough to get a job done. Lollol.
I think I've seen every video you have on building wheels and honestly, you're not in any danger of being repetitive posting another vid on building a wheel - It's never a tedious thing to see a craftsman at work - 🛠 That's why I'm subscribed.
It’s was such an great honor to get to meet you today and see where the magic happens, and to see the mud wagon in person! Thank you for taking time out of your day to talk with us and show us around the shop. It’s great that you made the wheel for the young lady. I can’t wait to see what’s to comes in the future videos!!
Wonderful thing you did for this lady and it is beautiful. Not only are you a craftsman and artist but you’re a gentleman with a big heart. This will look so nice in her kitchen and bring back those memories of her youth and when life went at an easier pace. ❤
By a show of hands, who are all the people in the comments section who are tired of watching Dave make wheels? ‘Cause it ain’t me. I could watch Dave make wheels every week.
Sometimes you just gotta feel good about breaking down and saying "yes" and this is one you should really feel good about! Lovely bit of art. Thanks for sharing.
When I joined your channel, you were making wheels and I appreciate you don't really do that any more but it was really nice to see you make one again. Self employed, we're in the business of saying 'yes', and no is the hardest word especially to nice people who are younger than you thought!
Dave, you have a big heart. Your prowess as a wheelwright has grown a little as a master craftsman, and you humbly satisfied her desire. You have also made our hearts grow as we watch you build the wheel.
I understand the concept of burnout, and I truly enjoy your building buggies and wagons. But watching you craft a wheel is truly a gift. Perhaps after some R&R you can pick it up again, at least every once in awhile.
Great job Dave, you did the world more good by saying YES to the Lady wanting to remember what it was like years ago and also preserving remembrance of you and your shop and what it did for Joliet. Stay safe and it never is tiring to watch your videos about wheel making. Fred.
I could watch you build wheels every day and I don’t think it would get old. I am proud I’m not the only sucker for older ladies requests. No is not even possible!
I'll keep watching you build wheels, wagons, coaches, fences, whatever. Still not convinced that I could build a wheel by myself. The rest of the wagon, maybe.
Mr Dave, I never get tired of watching your Craftsmanship in every phase of your work!! I’m sure it is tiresome for you, after all of these years. Thank you for the videos!!! God Bless you
Dave, it just goes to show us faithful that you’re a softy😉 as many have said, “we never grow tired of watching you build anything “ I know that she will enjoy that tire as long as she can! Thank you for keeping her precious memories alive. Tom in Ceres, CA
"Blessed are those who give without remembering and those who receive without forgetting." She may have paid for the wheel but you willingly gave your talent to this lady who will not forget what you did for her.
Nice job for the old lady. Ya big softie !😂😂
You rock Dave. Helping out Grandma how kind and wise.
id sure love to be there when she brings that APPEL PIE in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My thoughts exactly! And I hope it's big enough to last Dave and Diane a week.
I cannot speak for the rest of the Internet, but I like watching you make wheels. Thanks!
You Sir, are a good man.
It never gets old seeing wheelwright building a wheel.
Dave you are an old softy, nice wheel for a nice lady and we get a great video to watch. 10/10.
Beautiful, the elderly lady should be chuffed right up with that wheel 👍🇬🇧
Great story - is what makes our memories stronger and longer! Right stories forge generations. Give our regards to wise grandma! ))
You did right by saying "yes" to this one, Dave! ❤❤❤

You are a Nice guy, who Can say no to a Nice lady ❤ looks so Nice, best greetings from denmark 😊
watching a true craftsman building a wheel out of wood, never gets boring.. so for me keep them coming, but i understand if you have enough of that..
It’s still nice to see the odd wheel made. 🏴
I don't know about anyone else but I enjoy watching Dave build new wheels. He truly is a master of his craft! Thank you for helping to preserve the past and those special memories all of us old people cherish.

@@chuckthebull Me too!
It’s extremely therapeutic watching him build wheels, its probably the thing I enjoy most about this channel
Thank Dave for helping her out her dream
it never gets old watching wheel building.
You made a new wheel look very mature , and you have made a mature lady feel very new .
I know we've all seen you do this before, but it's still fascinating to watch
Yes watching a wood wheel being made by a Craftsman never gets old.
Awesome :)
Ah ya big softie, bless you for making her wheel.
Dave you’re a true gentleman. Taking the time to care for our elder ones! And the “half” wheel wall hanger turned out great! I’m guessing I’m not the only one who kinda wants one too!?✌🏻❤️🇺🇸

Great man
You are a darn good man. Thanks Dave

Thanks for doing one more wheel video, I picked up some cool tricks! Our whole family enjoyed the video.

Please keep doing wheels and show us your day to day wheel work. We like your old videos but current videos showing wheel work are so enjoyable.
Done as only the MASTER WHEELWRIGHT could do it Dave. I hope that young lady appreciates the beautiful job you created for her.🤩👌👍💥
Thanks for making another wheel , we love to watch you build them and bring back the old days ! See Ya

I know wheelrightineg is repetitive for you but I can watch it all day long. There just aren't many left who can do this. Please keep it up.
Agreed.
I concur with that Dave , keep on going😊 😅

My woodshop is so small I told my sister it's like trying to play frisbee in a phone booth.
Beautifully done Dave.
I’m planning to swing by Juliet to meet you later this summer. 🇺🇸👍🏻
Yay a new wheel video. Always a good watch.
I love watching you show how a wheel is built. Thanks for granting Grandma's wish; you're a good man!
Bet Diane didn't even get jealous, of the hug of appreciation you got.....LOL.. Well deserved too.
Can’t say no to Grandma. Especially when she’s local. Outstanding work. As usual.👍🏻
Simply wonderful. I do still enjoy watching you make wheels. Damn the torpedoes and full steam ahead
I think I've seen every video you have on building wheels and honestly, you're not in any danger of being repetitive posting another vid on building a wheel - It's never a tedious thing to see a craftsman at work - 🛠 That's why I'm subscribed.

What a beautiful wheel. Her house will be all the more charming for it!
Sometimes you just gotta feel good about breaking down and saying "yes" and this is one you should really feel good about!
Lovely bit of art.
Thanks for sharing.
You old softy, you 😃. Love the vids.
That wheel will never touch the road, except in the eyes of the beholder while she's cooking.
That looks a lot like my old oak rocker. Still comfortable after all these years! Good work, bud.
Don't know about the rest of the folks on here but could watch you build those wheels a thousand times over! Beautiful work yet again!!
He could build a coat hanger and it would be worth watching !!!
