The absolute craziest part about this is hearing him effortlessly freestyle lyrics and Melodies that end up being the final lyrics/melody. These things literally just come to him from out of nowhere.
If you listen to his lyrics, he tells you where it comes from. He’s got a gift and we’re lucky enough to be sharing the experience of watching him grow.
I would fully suggest reacting to "the making of hand of god", personally for me one of the best ways to finish off an album with that beauty of a song.
I am so glad to see everyone so hyped for this reaction. I had personally wanted to see Ern react to the making of videos for the longest as well as seeing many others wanting it so I took one for the team and requested for us all 😉 I hope he reacts to any more he hasn't seen! Much love ❤️
I agree with you! Watching an artist make a song is so satisfying and it’s fascinating to see how their minds work. Then, watching you react to it with all your appreciation and love for it just makes it even more enjoyable to watch ❤️
I LOVE THIS VIDEO, it's actually so inspiring seeing how that freaking GENIUS works and how passionate he is about it. Every Jon Bellion "making of" is so interesting
YEEAAAASSSS!!! I've been waiting for The Making Of Jon Bellion reaction videos, they're amazing!!!! Cannot wait for the new album and fingers crossed the new Making Of documentary from Jon!
I have no idea how these videos don't motivate people on making music. Jon is so inspirational and you can tell he has an infectious personality. Just seems like everyone enjoys working with him.
I just started learning about sound engineering and microphones have different Polar Patterns. If you look at microphones on the internet, they will have different pickup patterns. I am not too sure what pattern the guitarist's mic is at 13:09 but it only picks up sound that is directly in front of him. Jon's mic is omnidirectional so it picks up from around him. You can look more into it cause that's all I know.
I’m a music major studying audio production. One part of this is they’re using directional microphones and possibly dynamic mics (they are much less sensitive than other kinds). The other reason is, it doesn’t matter if they pick up the other instruments. In fact, they are picking up the other instruments but it doesn’t matter because they’re all playing together.
So, I initially subbed to your channel coz of the twenty one pilots content and now, as I was about to get some work done, this video of my favourite artiste came up... What the hell man.... I'm sad and happy asf
8:06 Mark and Volta (the 2 guys with Jon in that scene) are a producer duo called Ojivolta. They're huge behind the scenes, super talented dudes. They produced/wrote a good amount on Donda. Legit 🔥
Yooo Ernest. I see you’re a fan of Andy. Andy got 3 seasons of “Saturday Morning Car Tunez” and he shows us the making of his projects. Would love to see you react to them
There is something called a gate, that allows you to quite sounds lower or higher than a certain threshold. Also the mics have polar patterns that allow the sound coming from the front of them to be heard the most, and sound from other directions aren't picked up as much. Any sound bleeding in from other instruments can be lowered with a gate.
they’re direction microphones. meaning they only pick up sound in front and not around. for those “around” sounds that slip in can be filtered out in editing
That run at 11:45 reminded me of AJR and that's legit the only time I have ever thought about another song when hearing anything from my guy. I don't know the timeline and he didn't even use it. Fuckin killer
for your question: the mics still pick up the sound but it doesn't really matter because the mic that's for the certain instrument basically cancels out any of the other sound, since its all being played at the same time it isn't a problem
So the other mics only pick up a certain direction, so they’re only gonna pick up what you point it at. There’s always gonna be a little bit of bleed but normally you’ll put a moveable wall in between to get rid of that
Fun fact: Raul and Mark (synth and bass players) who helped Jon in the studio in this video also helped produce a ton of songs on Donda
raul not paul lol but yes ojivolta were on a great deal of donda
@@chom3575 Oh lol I didn't notice it got autocorrected
Yeah, Ojivolta have grown so much since then
This was my introduction to Jon Bellion.. before I even heard a song. This got me hooked. I've watched this so many times haha
Over and over lol same
Same
YESSSSSS, love the Jon videos. Especially the "making of" vids he does. You gotta check em all out, SO GOOD.

Bro dude is so talented. If you haven't seen the Jon Bellion at Cove City you gotta check that out. His passion and ear for music is next level.

Yooo Ernest. I see you’re a fan of Andy. Andy got 3 seasons of “Saturday Morning Car Tunez” and he shows us the making of his projects. Would love to see you react to them
im mad that i will probably never get to witness his greatness and mastery of his craft in person, in real time
It’s compression for the mic question. And for me, as an in the box engineer, I usually have a waves rider to keep the sound in check. 😊

14:39 instrumental goosebumps bro

So the other mics only pick up a certain direction, so they’re only gonna pick up what you point it at. There’s always gonna be a little bit of bleed but normally you’ll put a moveable wall in between to get rid of that
HECK YEAH!
id love to just geek out on a call with u man ahah
they dont pick up the mic because theyre noise gated so close to the instrument it only picks up the main sound, as well as from the front
Please please please react to him in cove city live. Please it was a phenomenal experience

More people need to know who Jon Bellion is
So i mix, and its not that the mics dont pick up the other sounds per say, You end up EQing out bad frequencies and balance the mix between everything
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Oh if you thought the recording part was long, bruh i guarantee the mixing and mastering took even longer... another W reaction tho 💯
