@@RK1FX FCA in the U.S. models is not proving out well at all and the dealers are not backing customers for repairs either. The list of issues across models is large. One example from researching vans, they constantly blow headlights, the rear doors routinely chop off the wiring harness just from opening and closing, the transmission design breaks down and FCA doesn't stand behind the product. We're talking headlights that fail every oil change when I have cars ten years old with the original bulbs in them. Engine issues, transmission issues, the dealers turn their back.

I'm enjoying the comparisons between the small diesels produced by the big three for their new trucks. Have you guys

Your moms HITACHI I drove the Grand Cherokee with the VM 3.1 for many years, Great motor no problems for 150k's. When this motor finds its way into the Gladiator platform I'll be driving that. Now if you want to talk about crap diesel motors well there's a long list of American and Japanese contenders 😀

Your moms HITACHI I trade in usually before 100k but no problems when I sold at 150k. This motor has consistently been highly rated. VM motors were used in various manufacturers vehicles including Chévy Toyota Isuzu Land Rover etc, RAM and Jeep will do very well with it.

What does he mean at 4:25 where he says trade off between economy and age? Does he mean the engines lifespan? So... the engine was tweaked to improve torque and HP as well as to reduce noise (NVH?) at the expense of engine life? 😳
