Subscribed! Santee is tricky. Lots of pressure and clear water makes very finnicky fish. You can see the fish rush up to your worm then stop right before the bite. Gulp Garlic spray has helped us get more bites because they seem to rely heavily on smell there. Nightcrawlers on a flouro leader and really small hidden hook gets some results but geeze they are picky there!
To catch bluegill at Santee lakes all you need is a tiny gold treble flylined no bait necessary. Just whip it out there. The float / bobber scares them
Great video bro you have a new subscriber the best way I found to catch bluegill. Here is using half of a nightcrawler and a split. Just cast it fairly close to the shore and wait for a bite a split with crickets from Petco as well.
If you want a good spot to catch bluegill go to old Mission Dam at Mission trails there’s tons there last time I was there. I got three of them in three minutes. I was just using crickets.
they dont stock bluegill or bass no california lake does that, public or private. the bluegill and bass got there because fishermen illegally planted them thats how it always was. When it comes to panfish in california parks, dont even bother looking for anything over 8 inches. even that would be considered huge for a park gill. go to skinner and perris for bluegill, both have coppernose gills
I’m always at santee lakes try wax worms! I catch blue gill all the time on the drop
@@funkycold76 I had wax worms with me and didn’t use them! I’ll try it next time.
