He is better than your Arjit. Bollywood will always project anyone famous associated with it as world class. Sid does Carnatic classical concerts (Equivalent of Hindustani Classical in the south) He sings English songs as he has been brought up in USA and has done post graduation in Music. He primarily sings in Tamil and Telugu but now branching out to Malayalam and possibly Kannada. Not sure whether he will do Hindi or not.
