Salaam I have heard lectures predominantly related from scholars/imaams from the subcontinent regarding imam Junayd al baghdadi which don’t quite sit right with me. For example an incident where imam junayd was walking on water making tasbih of allahs name. And one of his companions asked him how he has managed to do this, so he tells him that I am calling allahs name and if you wish to walk on water then you call ‘ya junayd’ So the companion started to call ya junayd and walked on water then shaytan came to him and said why are you chanting ya junayd you should call ya allah. So he starts calling ya allah and he starts to sink, and so he calls out to imam junayd and imam junayd tells him to chant ya junayd again. So he calls ya junayd and starts to walk on water, so he asks imam junayd why did I sink calling the name of allah? And he responds that it was not because you called allahs name that you sank it is because you obeyed Shaytans waswasah. You are not worthy of calling ya junayd let alone ya allah. This is not a quote but a general idea of the story narrated. Is there any authentication Of this story or is it fabricated?
