    You know Billy Talent??! Prolly ppl will recommend music like crazy to you... But "I'm not ok" is prolly their best jam...(MCR, I mean)... My suggestion for punk is Brand New (Your Favorite Weapon... And Deja Entendu... Are my favorite albums... ) Top notch rock from the early 2000's, same as MCR.... This was considered "emo" but yes it's punk...ofc someone will say otherwise but who cares it's rock

    No, they are not an emo band. They are THE emo band.

    The Black Parade is a rock opera centering around the character of "The Patient". It is about his passage out of life and the memories he has of it. "The Patient" dies and death comes for him in the form of a parade. This is based on singer Gerard Way's notion of death appearing to a person in the form of their fondest memory, in this case seeing a marching band as a child.

      The structure reminds me of both Bat out of hell and Bohemian rhapsody. It's a shame most rock opera died with yinyl.

    MCR really isn’t an “emo” band. Sadly they were labeled as “emo” when in reality they’re so much more than that....if I had to give them a generic cheap label; I guess I would say that they are an alternative rock band. If you want an emo band to react to, Hawthorne Heights is about the closest to the emo label...Wake up Call, Screenwriting an apology, dissolve and decay, and of course Ohio is for lovers are some of my favorites off of The Silence in black and white album

      Couldn't agree more! They definitely don't fit the emo label imo

      They were labeled emo cause they look emo same thing with panic at the disco

    • @mcrfan9175

      @@unusvita5719 exactly my point. Darker Aesthetic doesn’t (shouldn’t) make bands “emo”. Aesthetic, style, and appearance make up 1% of what emo is. the remaining 99% is music based. MCR songs all sound different across all albums for them to be labeled “emo” just because they look a bit darker than the average alternative Rock band

    • @unusvita5719

      @@mcrfan9175 I dont personally think it takes away from anything. Plenty of fans who called it emo all those years still felt the music and understood the music. What genre you call it doesnt change shit.

    • @isabel9977
      @isabel9977 3 роки тому

      @@unusvita5719 It influences the way they're perceived... people consider them immature emo bands for middle schoolers. At least that's the feedback I've gotten when I tell people MCR are my fav band. I don't care what other people think of course, they're still my favorite but I'm just saying that the emo label does influence the general public perception

    That was a joy watching, your reaction to my favourite band for 17 years now. Welcome. They are brill, but don't go into rabbit hole doing only their most watched, I recommend from this perticular album "Famous Last Words" and "This Is How I Disappear", then onto the creepy "Blood". It's a ride. Hugs from Sweden.

    They were considered an emo band, but it was more based around some of their lyrics and the scene they were in, but musically they were a rock band

    Their best song, imo. MCR polarised opinion back in the mid-2000s, they were even labelled an emo death cult by the UK press !!! Not the heaviest band, but I thought they were great. And they were due to have a re-union before Covid struck !

    Just a note since you equated them, metal and screamo are two different things. Screamo is actually it's own genre, not just "music with screaming". Screamo means "Screamed Emo". Bands like Agraceful and Alexisonfire and Senses Fail are screamo, since they are Post-Hardcore bands with an emphasis on screaming (Whereas Emo is Post-Hardcore with an emphasis on clean vocals). They are fundamentally different from metal, which in general also uses a different screaming style (Post-Hardcore/Emo/Screamo uses Fry Vocals for the most part, while Metal uses False Chords and Death Growls for the most part). Stating this since unfortunately "Screamo" is used as a derogatory term against heavier music for the most part these days as the original genre of it sort of faded away (All the old Screamo bands either lightened significantly and became regular Emo/Post-Hardcore or got way heavier and became Metalcore bands). Calling Metal Screamo is as offensive as calling Metal Satanic to a lot of people.

      Emo means "Emotive Hardcore" (Descended from Hardcore Punk). MCR is actually fairly close to that, they are Post-Hardcore and focus on emotional topics.

    I'd say they are Pop Punk cause they include a lot of pop elements in some of their songs (the way they structure their songs and especially the hooks) which is what got them some backlash back in the day (among their "emo" aesthetic) but it's also the reason of why their music has aged so well. They have a lot of rock elements too but that's implied when we say they are punk since punk is a form of rock music.
