EXO is a group of 9 equally talented members. When I first listened to EXO they also reminded me of NSync and Boyz2Men. They are the first and only kpop group who can sing any genre specially r&b. EXO's vocal layering is what separates them from other kpop groups that's they are called the Vocal Kings up to this date. As a proof, 6 out of the 9 members already released a solo album and they also sing kdrama soundtracks. The other 3 haven't released their solo albums yet but they have solo songs too. Fun fact: The majority of the choreography for "Monster" has to do with the EXO members using their powers. If you follow EXO, then you know that the whole concept of the group is that they are supposed to be aliens who are from Planet Exo, and they were sent to Earth on a mission. Each of the members of EXO have a superpower that is unique to them and almost everything that EXO is involved in is part of their storyline and concept. Therefore, if you really pay attention to the choreography for "Monster," you might be able to find the parts where they use their powers. The X they make to represent EXO is only the beginning of the story in their choreography. In "Monster" every move of the choreography has been designed to be an extension of their story and it uses elements of their dance to represent several of the members using their powers. For example, D.O. has the power of earth (dirt) which gives him super strength/force, so during his part in the song and choreography you will see that he waves his hands and the other members are pushed away from him or pulled toward him. When you see Suho in the middle of the group and they have a hold of his arms, he rotates his body around like swirling water because Suho has the power to control water. Xiumin has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography you will see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. Sehun has the power to control wind, so during his parts, you will see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. And the part where they are sitting on the ground is supposed to represent a sundial -- EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun. The concert version of "Wolf" is the remix version, so only the beginning and end of this performance is what you see in the MV -- the middle part, where it slows down, is new, but the hype part at the beginning and end is exactly how the original song sounds. Often, the performance and choreography for their songs in concert is different than the original because they put a different twist on it every time they perform it. The moving siluet you saw them create in their "Wolf" performance is supposed to represent the Tree of Life. Which is a visual connection between the story in "Mama" and the story in "Wolf". In the MV for "Wolf" you will see they created two separate trees (or one tree that is split in two) because the MV is when they still have 12 members. EXO-K (Korean) was one half of the tree and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) was the other half. However, as you saw in the concert performance, they don't split up into the two separate trees any more because now there are only 9 members. After the 3 Chinese members left, they now do everything together, so there is only one tree. This concert was in 2016 and Kris, Luhan and Tao left in 2014/2015. How I interpret the part where Kai Xs out the tree, is that EXO are searching for the Tree of Life and Kai has eliminated that tree from their search. It's not the tree they want, so they get rid of it. In the intro to "Mama" they talk about how the Tree of Life has been split in two and each half has been hidden away. It's EXO's job to find the two halves of the Tree of Life and reunite them to restore peace in the world. So in their live performance, that is what they are doing. They are searching for the real Tree of Life. It is no surprise that you are impressed by everyone's vocals and dancing because, as SM artists, that is just something the company is known for. SM is now known as the vocal powerhouse of the industry. You literally can't be an SM artist without having amazing vocals and dance skills, even SM's rappers get intense vocal training, so all of SM's artists are some of the best singers in the industry. And EXO are the perfect example of that. Just imagine, that was only one set from a 3 to 4 hour concert where they performed 20 to 30 songs. So, if you think that performance was amazing, keep in mind, after this they only took about a 5 minute break to get ready for the next set of songs and change outfits, etc. The Tokyo Dome is one of the largest concert venues in Japan, which holds 55,000 people, and there is an unwritten rule that in order to get permission to hold an event there you have to be able to fill it to capacity. EXO are such big-name artists that they know they will have no problem selling out within seconds of tickets going on sale, and most likely they will have to have multiple day events because fan demand will be so high.

I had never wanted to check kpop out as I thought it was all bubble gum pop and cutesy. However, close to 3 years ago I discovered EXO (and Mamamoo, vocal queens!!!) I quickly fell in love with them. Their live vocals is what made me fall in love. Check out their debut song Mama. EXO does all geners plus they even sing in spanish!!! EXO KINGS AND LEGENDS OF K-POP FOREVER ETERNA-A FACT THAT HAS NO LONGER NEEDS ANYONE'S APPROVAL. To say that in EXO someone is better and someone is worse is simply IMPOSSIBLE because absolutely every participant is unrealistically talented, this is literally an IDEAL GROUP. Every EXO group and solo album is on a completely different level to this day, even after 10 years of career. I am absolutely not afraid to say that EXO is a real K-POP, now there are countless groups in the fourth generation, but they absolutely do not stand out in any way, trying to focus more and more on the West and POP music, thereby becoming monotonous and disposable. EXO is the only band in the entire K-POP industry, by the way, to this day where literally every member sings amazingly, including rappers and dancers. Minute popularity does not determine the talent and legendarity of the artist, because even after 10 years of his career, EXO songs are literally sung by the whole of Asia, because EXO is the real K-POP. I will never stop admiring this amazing band, even if 40 years pass, let a billion more bands like bts be released, they will never surpass EXO because their music is timeless, this is what defines the legendary artist.

Xiumin has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography you will see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. Sehun has the power to control wind, so during his parts, you will see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. And the part where they are sitting on the ground is supposed to represent a sundial -- EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun.
The concert version of "Wolf" is the remix version, so only the beginning and end of this performance is what you see in the MV -- the middle part, where it slows down, is new, but the hype part at the beginning and end is exactly how the original song sounds. Often, the performance and choreography for their songs in concert is different than the original because they put a different twist on it every time they perform it.
The moving siluet you saw them create in their "Wolf" performance is supposed to represent the Tree of Life. Which is a visual connection between the story in "Mama" and the story in "Wolf". In the MV for "Wolf" you will see they created two separate trees (or one tree that is split in two) because the MV is when they still have 12 members. EXO-K (Korean) was one half of the tree and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) was the other half. However, as you saw in the concert performance, they don't split up into the two separate trees any more because now there are only 9 members. After the 3 Chinese members left, they now do everything together, so there is only one tree. This concert was in 2016 and Kris, Luhan and Tao left in 2014/2015.
How I interpret the part where Kai Xs out the tree, is that EXO are searching for the Tree of Life and Kai has eliminated that tree from their search. It's not the tree they want, so they get rid of it. In the intro to "Mama" they talk about how the Tree of Life has been split in two and each half has been hidden away. It's EXO's job to find the two halves of the Tree of Life and reunite them to restore peace in the world. So in their live performance, that is what they are doing. They are searching for the real Tree of Life.
It is no surprise that you are impressed by everyone's vocals and dancing because, as SM artists, that is just something the company is known for. SM is now known as the vocal powerhouse of the industry. You literally can't be an SM artist without having amazing vocals and dance skills, even SM's rappers get intense vocal training, so all of SM's artists are some of the best singers in the industry. And EXO are the perfect example of that.
Just imagine, that was only one set from a 3 to 4 hour concert where they performed 20 to 30 songs. So, if you think that performance was amazing, keep in mind, after this they only took about a 5 minute break to get ready for the next set of songs and change outfits, etc.
The Tokyo Dome is one of the largest concert venues in Japan, which holds 55,000 people, and there is an unwritten rule that in order to get permission to hold an event there you have to be able to fill it to capacity. EXO are such big-name artists that they know they will have no problem selling out within seconds of tickets going on sale, and most likely they will have to have multiple day events because fan demand will be so high.

I had never wanted to check kpop out as I thought it was all bubble gum pop and cutesy. However, close to 3 years ago I discovered EXO (and Mamamoo, vocal queens!!!)
I quickly fell in love with them. Their live vocals is what made me fall in love. Check out their debut song Mama. EXO does all geners plus they even sing in spanish!!!

To say that in EXO someone is better and someone is worse is simply IMPOSSIBLE because absolutely every participant is unrealistically talented, this is literally an IDEAL GROUP. Every EXO group and solo album is on a completely different level to this day, even after 10 years of career. I am absolutely not afraid to say that EXO is a real K-POP, now there are countless groups in the fourth generation, but they absolutely do not stand out in any way, trying to focus more and more on the West and POP music, thereby becoming monotonous and disposable. EXO is the only band in the entire K-POP industry, by the way, to this day where literally every member sings amazingly, including rappers and dancers. Minute popularity does not determine the talent and legendarity of the artist, because even after 10 years of his career, EXO songs are literally sung by the whole of Asia, because EXO is the real K-POP. I will never stop admiring this amazing band, even if 40 years pass, let a billion more bands like bts be released, they will never surpass EXO because their music is timeless, this is what defines the legendary artist.
