    Great details. Side note recommendation: If you are like you and some of us other folks, if you do make one successful claim, start paying the cell phone on another card with same protection so ensure if a subsequent claim has to be made you aren't capped. Like for you you've got your Chase but also if you kept your Delta Platinum it has coverage as well, not just the main Platinum. take care, dear sir. Hope you had a super duper day.

      That's a great tip to consider. Many of us here will likely have multiple cards to use. Bouncing back and forth if needed is smart, I did not think of that. Appreciate the tip sir

    Rj, another great video.. I was looking at the freedom flex cell phone protection, if the screen crack is less than 2 inches and does not impact the overall functionality if is not covered. The amex platinum states cracked screen is covered. One is a free card and the other is 695 a year. The price difference is almost enough to buy a new cheaper phone.

    • @RJFinancial
      @RJFinancial  2 роки тому

      Thank you sir, had to do something for iPhone preorder day lol. Ah that's lame, any crack on a glass screen is going to impact usability as its a touch screen! I added the Platinum in because a lot of viewers already have it, so if you do then its one more way to help pay down that $695 tho I don't know how to assign a dollar amount to the coverage. Perhaps up to the individual. I'd lean towards the flex still out of the three. In my experience most screens get the spiderweb type cracks when they drop. So unfortunately it'll probably be big enough to qualify

    • @Frank_Rizzo100
      @Frank_Rizzo100 3 дні тому

      Maybe you should drop it the requisite number of times to make the crack(s) two inches long. Just a thought.

    This is an awesome benefit. I was struggling with the decision to get the AMEX platinum. But I already pay about 300 a year in apple care fees for my wife's and daughter's phones. That alone would offset almost half the AF.

    So if you had to choose between the Wells Fargo Active Cash cell phone protection vs the Chase Freedom Flex’s protection, I have both & in torn between the two.

    • @RJFinancial
      @RJFinancial  2 роки тому

      Both lol let me explain. Someone pointed this out to me in the comments. Use the Flex first as I believe it goes up to $800 a claim but it caps at $1k max a year. So if you filed a claim on the Flex that took the full $800, you'd only have $200 for the next claim.
      In that case you could then start paying the bill with the active cash and now have $600 in insurance which would be better. (knock on wood of course)

    RJ,
    First comment Bro.
    Since I have none of those cards. I have the Verizon phone coverage through Asurion which is actually owned by Allstate now. This insurance is great for a screen repair it's a 30 dollar deductible. I have used this insurance multiple times because my kids drop tablets etc. The big thing about it is if the model isn't made anymore they have to give you a replacement that is the next model up. That happened to my daughter's Ipad mini 4th generation the wifi went bad in it and screen broke. I filed a claim online and because the mini 4th gen wasn't made anymore she got the equivalent model in the 5th generation. 500 bucks saved there. 800 is nice but phones are starting at 1k bucks or more now. So you almost have to carry multiple insurance or put money aside for it. Great Video appreciate it. Some Debit cards come with cell phone insurance now. Like the HSBC world elite Mastercard debit card. Crazy to see it on debit cards. I am sure there are hoops to jump through to use it. Hey you see that the Tomo Credit card is coming out with a Black card with more rewards and other things? It's hard to find info on it but it's out there. What is your next credit card and checking account to open lol? Love the videos man.

    • @RJFinancial
      @RJFinancial  2 роки тому +1

      Appreciate the insights. I had Asurion back in the day, Apple care now. Never had a problem with them. Glad they hooked the young lady up with a new iPad. I think if you're a case and screen protector person then the $800 may be good enough. Samsung folding phones are awesome but almost $2k. I do believe the insurance providers will have to up the coverage. Tho I'm guessing it has something to do with what the card issuers are willing to pay for as well.
      I saw Proud Money had a Tomo vid but haven't watched it yet. I'll see what I can find out about it. I opened a BofA account recently and am waiting on an approval for First Tech CU account. It's been a little slow as of late. Hoping things pick up in Q4. I need one more big push to hit that $10k goal from banks before years end.

    I just learned for Amex Gold they only cover it for the 1st 90 days from purchase. I dropped and damaged my phone after 114 days and AMEX said “sorry can’t help.” Of course I thought I was fine because I bought it with My Amex so I did not get apple care or AT&T’s insurance. So I had to pay apple to fix $279 + tax 😡. Read fine print!! Thanks for great content RJ.

    • @RJFinancial
      @RJFinancial  2 роки тому +2

      Was that the Amex purchase protection or cell phone insurance? The purchase protection is 90 days from purchase date. Cell coverage should last as long as your making the phone plan payments with the card.
      I hear ya tho, they don't always make it clear what is what and the dates are hidden in the terms. I go Apple care myself. Apple repairs on their own are way too high. Here's hoping Right to repair laws fix this!

    I have US Bank Visa Rewards with Cell Phone coverage when paying your phone bill with this card. How exactly does coverage work with CC's? Do you send in the phone to them or you get reimbursed for the repair costs up to their coverage limits? Thanks

    • @RJFinancial
      @RJFinancial  2 роки тому +1

      Usually the coverage is thru a third party the card issuer partners with. Typical process is to file a claim with that insurance vendor. Usually need documentation of ownership of the phone, the bill being paid, and a price quote for repair. I think if it's approved you'll get reimburse as a credit to the card.

    • @RJFinancial
      @RJFinancial  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, I think the Gold card gives coverage up to $10k for 90 days from the date of purchase. I haven't specifically looked at what Amex covers on purchase protection but they are considered one of the best in the game. After those 90 days you'd need additional insurance like the Flex.

    So do I go to a cell phone repair for my green line on my screen and have them fix it then send the bill to Mastercard?

    • @RJFinancial
      @RJFinancial  3 місяці тому

      I think you make a claim with the issuer/provider of the insurance. Part of the claim will be submitting documentation for the repair. You could either submit the quote and wait for approval. Or do the repair anyway because you have to.
      So it's kinda like other insurances but instead of them sending and adjuster, they just take a repair quote then decided if they'll approve it.
