Nice pattern. Thank you. Moose mane (note spelling) also makes a great segmented body for a mosquito dry fly. We often see moose near our woods cabin in northern Maine. They are quite tall & not afraid of much unless it’s hunting season or there is a bear nearby. However, it’s very hard to convince them to stand still while you get stool to stand on, so you can cut off some of their mane. ;-)
As you know everyday is a schooldays....I was talking too Ian mckenzie at Glasgow angling centre at the spring open days....and it was him that told me about moose mane....and now lindsay you have showed me how to work it...now its just trying to get some.lol. Happy fishing 🎣 lindsay...
i know im randomly asking but does someone know a method to get back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost my login password. I would love any tips you can give me!
@Gary Camden thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Nice pattern there Lindsay. Looks a bit tough for me but I’ll try it although I don’t have the moose hair so I’ll swap for deer and see if it works. Thank you for another one dude.
Yes, moose mane is impressive stuff - especially when admiring it from a tree when it is still attached to an angry moose. ...Don't ask me how I know this, just be advised not to imitate their calls while on a late fall trout fishing trip when they are in "rut" - evidently what they are "saying" is rude and they are likely to take offense. Oh, and the long, strong hairs do make wonderful flies! Thanks for sharing!
Good fly, I really thought the body was quill when I saw the thumbnail lol. Is the moose hair more durable than a quill. I'm fed up with them pesky trout chewing on my flies and destroying my quill bodies. They've no respect at all lol.
Nice pattern. Thank you.

It is a great material, very versatile.
Great dressing. Thanks for the pattern
Very welcome Brian 👍
Fly tying with Sean Connery! Excellent pattern. One white CDC with two gray/natural ones would really help with visibility for the angler.
😃 I often tie in a bright sighted it really helps👍
Very inspiring pattern. It looks terrific. I'll try it out. Many thanks Lindsay
Many thanks Gustaff

Deer hair won't work pal, try just using some stripped peacock heel. That will do much better.
Thanks for the advice Lindsay. It’s appreciated. I’ll try my hand at it. 🤞
Wow really enjoyed this lesson thank you sir
Thanks Jimmy, this is a great fly for those flat runs on the river. Fish often just sip it down.

Yes the Moose Mane is a much tougher material James and easier to work with.
Great pattern Lindsay. Where do you get the Moose Mane from? Great to meet you at the BFFI. 👍
And you Simon, hope you got back home safe.
Very nice one m8.
Thanks.
