    I recently discovered your videos while I was thinking of buying my seventh 2CV after not having had one for about 18 years, and I found them really informative!
    I'm expecting my 1959 one this week, and since the earliest 2CV I've had so far was from 1970, I'm learning a lot from your videos! Thanks!

    I am very energized by your videos! I have just purchased my first 2CV-a Fourgonette used at a fishing camp in Quebec. It has the coveted patina and hand-painted lettering on the sides. Can’t wait to touch it for the first time when it arrives soon at my Northern Michigan home.

      That's awesome happy new car for the patina check out some stuff called CLR it gets rid of rust but keeps the patina so you can oil it

    Great video . I bought a new Citroen Acadian mixta for my business and pleasure I had it for 22years and it only let me down once with a broken fan. It did more than half a million miles and pulled a trailer tent on lots of holidays loved thees cars . I'm currently waiting for a renovated Dyane it's a 1974 model and can't wait to get it on the road.

      It's most likely warn bushings in the gearstick shaft their only plastic I when they wear it has a tendency to catch when shifting from second to third

      @@OliverPickard ... thanks Oliver, but in my case could be the fact I am unused to the clutch and the gear positions ... practice makes perfect though ... so looking forward to nice excursions to the countryside ... with Camille!

    Thank you for a very thorough description of Jolene's interior. My wife loved it too. We have just (Monday 14 Dec) bought our first classic car, a Citroën 2cv 1963 with chassis number 8501665. Now I don't have to teach her about how to operate the car, you've done that. Thank you :-)
    I think Jolene is a little younger than our Burunduchuk. Our's doesn't have the blue lamp and the red is for the dynamo. We also have a self canceling indicator to the right of the speedo, which is different. Our speedo starts on the right, goes down and end up in the left upper corner. The fuel gauge is also different.
    I've been wanted to own a 2cv since I lived a couple of summers in Roquemaure (near Avignon) in the late 70's. Now I finally got me one :D
    Keep up the good work!

      @OliverPickard  3 роки тому

      Congratulations on buying the best 2cv ever made. Our cars (18bhp engine with suicide doors) were only available for 63/64. My guages are a later item as is your indicator stalk. Self canceling units weren't able from Citroen until the 90s so be aware that it wasn't designed for 6v and might be lazy

    Thanks for this one! We had a 1975 2CV6 as our family car - inbetween two Dyanes! Jolene's interior (and engine of course) are different, but memories came flooding back! Citroen released the 2CV Special, which was a hark back to Jolene and her friends.

    Just catching up on some older uploads. I've also removed the sun visors on my 1988 Deuche as they are totally unusable. BTW, think I've mentioned on a previous video, but I absolutely adore the steering wheels on these early 2CVs. I'd definitely fit one to my car. I currently have a later 1960s (AZAM) steering wheel fitted (Quillery brand).
    One thing you can do to improve the feel of steering wheel is to buy a ball of string and wrap it around the rim of the wheel, making sure it is wrapped very tightly to ensure it doesn't slip on the rim and cause issues whilst driving.

    And yet another informative video, it looks quite luxurious compared to the first one I borrowed which was a 1960 car. Although my Gigi is a 1989 model you can see the similarity in its simplicity.
    How about a video on greasing kingpins, So many owners mistakingly follow their maintenance manual and grease them at 5,000 miles. When first launched they needed doing every 1000 km. This is exactly what I do, in nearly 45 years and ten A series I have only had one set of kingpins replaced, that was in my Acadiane which had an unknown service history.

    Dump sun vizors, buy a tennis sunpeak on sweatband if you need shading ( it moves with your head, much more sensible). Also the correct term for the door style is 'coach doors', makes getting in and out so much better (ergonomic), good enough for a Rolls Royce so good for a 2CV. I bet in a later 2CV your knees would keep hitting what I call the kneecapper hinges. Also later front doors bend and leak at the top because of the reduced length of the hinge axis, they also left the door pull in the 'old' position so it has hardly any leverage.

    • @OliverPickard
      @OliverPickard  5 років тому

      Agreed! Suicide doors get a drip in an the hinge unless you stick a bit of closed cell foam there haha

    Forgot to ask. Does Jolene's roof leak or at least get damp on the inside around the front catches.. which I can't see on Jolene now I look again?

    • @OliverPickard
      @OliverPickard  3 роки тому +1

      No non at all those kind of tops only leak when out of adjustment. Jolene has the more basic roof design that you have to open from the outside. it's a poor quality reproduction top fit by the previous owner that I plan on replacing in time

      @@OliverPickard Ah right, ta. Ours did in heavy rain. The clips were on the inside behind the sun visors. Can see your clips now as you're sat in front of Jolene. Right. On with the next vid. My job is locked down, and your vids are a real tonic.

    Again...a lovely vid! I think this really is the first video on youtube explaining all interior features of an early 2CV AZA! Since your last few vids i finally decided what type of 2CV i want to own myself.. and yes....it should be Jolene's sister! So an early 60's AZA is what am looking for. At least with the 18bhp 425 engine, and with suicide doors 😊 Thanks for explaining how everything works in the interior! I love all those little lovely details! 😃 Let my duck hunt begin! 😉

      Thank you for your lovely comment and for following on twitter. You have made yourself a very narrow window 63 is the first year of the 18 bhp (AZA & AZAM) engine and 64 is the last year of suicide doors. Good luck 👍

      @OtiKist 5 років тому

      @@OliverPickard No thanks! Your Welcome! Yeah...i know...but i just want the most beautiful one 😃 and the most basic.. So even more narrow window without the AZAM 😉 I just need some patience 😉 Earlier 2CV's with the 12hp are even more beautiful, but just too slow for the crowded Dutch roads.

    • @OliverPickard
      @OliverPickard  5 років тому +1

      Agreed 61/2 are pretty but not as usable. If I'm honest the 6V electrical system is a bit of a pain and very expensive to fix being in Holland look out for an 64 AZAm6 it's an Azam with the M4 602engine from an ami6 and with that the external 6V dynamo so its a simple upgrade to 12V and POWER!!! 😂

    Hi Oliver
    When you talk about the handle of the starting engine, turned to the left or right.
    I think those with left handle where those fitting with the A/AZ dashboard type with the "D" (and choke) in the middle of it, so, at the left side.
    I'm not 100% sure but that's what I was told 😉

      no buckles so the elastic must be the option.

    • @OliverPickard
      @OliverPickard  3 роки тому +1

      @@joacimnieminen from the outside pull the metal toggles on the front of the roof towards the front bumper to unhook the roof from the car, roll the roof towards the car all the way back, the centre roof hooks simply pull towards you then keep rolling until your about 20cm away from the rear roof hooks and fold the roll of roof on top of that last 20cm and hook the toggles onto the roof hooks and your done.
      To only fold it half way back I fold that part of the roof in the middle to bring the front inline with the centre hooks and attach the toggles because it makes less wind noise than rolling

      I've been in 2cv6s over 80mph but 75 is more realistic however my car is a 63 with no shock absorbers and 18bhp so it's gets very floaty over 55

    I also got a green 2CV, slightly younger model with 602cc engine and I absolutely like it. The pure simplicity makes it just adorable. Nevertheless I always wanted to drive a old model like yours. I think there's not much more simple than a 2CV, but the old ones just set the driver back in time. Would you say that the old models with a 425cc engine are also a good option for someone like me who wants to own a 2CV as a daily car?

    • @OliverPickard
