The operating system is great. Coming from a BSD/Linux background, MacOS works for me way more than Windows, but I'm bot taking anything from Win10...it works for a lot more people. A huge chunk of MacOS users don't use the OS fully. I spend a lot of time in the terminal. The issue(s) lies with the flawed hardware design of the 2016-18 models.
I just got my third macbook pro 2018. The previous 2 had the keyboard issue. Hopefully this one wont. It makes me sick how these reviewers choose to not acknowledge this issue.
As I Matebook X Pro owner, some problems are not addressed correctly in the video. First, the thermals of it are terrible. Windows feels slow and laggy until you select the maximum power settings, which will drain the battery and crank the fan. The speakers and trackpad are not as good as they seem. Both of them rattle and it is extremely annoying. It is also impossible to keep the backlight of the keys ON. They just turn on when typing. Last, the compromise of the camera for thinner bezels is not great. When using it, it directly points at your fingers while typing and is useless. Even without typing the angle is crap.

Then buy It and install Linux. It's also based on Unix and, at least in the case of Ubuntu and Gnome base distros, you can make it almost exectly like macOs. Nowadays there are open source programs on Linux for everything

I don't understand all the hatred towards Windows. Windows 10 is a very fine operating system. I use it everyday for development/surfing and it never crashes like people assume it does. And Windows has come a long way from the Vista fiasco. Even the boot time is in seconds now. Windows precision supports gestures although the animations can be a bit smoother. But overall, having used both Mac and Windows, I personally prefer Windows. That could be because I never had a Mac as a kid,.. I had a PC that had Windows XP on it.

Most UA-camrs just say it's bad because of video editing, comparing premier on windows and final cut pro on mac. Yeah there's gonna be a difference because they made the software for their devices and optimized it. Just like how MS office takes longer to load documents on mac but 2 secs on windows. P

There are plenty of faults with Windows as an OS, but Macbooks have been having build issues year after year after year. I don't see myself picking up Huawei's products anytime soon but I find it hilarious that they've made it their mission to basically make Apple's products in terms of looks but without all the bullshit defects that show up in every generation.

I've a MacBook pro 13 no touch bar, with 256gb ssd. The only fact that Mac run Mac os, for me it's the only choice. 8gb on Mac, it's equivalent of 16gb in Windows. For the Adobe suite, the Mac remain the first choice, also with less performance than a PC windows. For me no problem with the keyboard. Before this I've had a MacBook air of mid 2012.

Even purely on specs, the Huawei blows the Macbook Pro out of the water. The correct comparison would be to compare the same generation models with the same specs. The Macbook Pro with the Huawei's specs will be much more expensive, at around $2200, but at least then you're comparing similarly powered devices. Well you need to realise for 95% of people. The one and overruling thing that people equate between Device X and Device Y is price. I go to the shop, i compare the prices of this to that. Its as simple as that. I ask myself can this do what that can does, yes or no? Then what is the price. Well, statistically macbook’s remain the most reliable laptop. Also keep in mind the most publicized issues (like the keyboard) are both, statistically overstated (failure rate is lower than the old one...) but also, Apple added extra warranty to them.

People have to understand that although macs don’t always offer the best numbers in performance, their performance is enhanced by a much more stable software that is easier to use, more intuitive and simply better, not mentioning the fact that due to its stability you can use a mac efficiently for 5+ years, i would like to see what windows computer is not completely useless or dead slow in that time
It's a great deal, I'd personally prefer it over the MacBook because I'm already comfortable with the OS (Win 10), but occasionally change to Mac. The touchscreen is what had me choosing the MateBook over the Macbook.

But once we get a clear answer on if that will happen or not, i will buy it (again)! I had this laptop before, but i wanted to check out the dell XPS 13 9380 model, since it has a newer CPU. I liked the Huawei better since it has such a beautiful screen compared to the Dell (which isn't bad at all either, just different)
I had the matebook Pro, and now I don't. Pros - Amazing screen - Superb battery life - Really nice keyboard - Great speakers Cons: - Screen hinge became loose - Screen wobble really annoying - Couple of keys did stick - Track pad rattles and is annoying Due to the hinge problem, I claimed on my insurance for a repair. They wrote it off and paid out for a new laptop! So I've gone back to my 2011 macbook air which I've found really enjoyable to use and keeping until I decide what to spend on next. But although I did like the matebook Pro, I won't buy another.

Im planning to buy a MacBook pro that I'll be using as a DevOps. So i need much power to open multiple VM's, browsers, and IDE. Im came from Linux OS. I love that Mac OS is unix based so i'd still get the same feeling of working in a unix environment. However, the price is the real deal breaker for me. You can get so much performance in a Huawei matebook pro with less than the price of an entry level MacBook pro. Plus the design is the same, so I'm good with matebook being inspired to MacBook Design. I can just install Linux in one of those matebook. And do my thing as a developer.

You aren't comparing the 2019 Matebook X Pro, you are talking about the same 2018. The 2018 is the one on sale, the 2019 is still $1499 and just came out and has slightly better specs.

I am using the MateBook X Pro and my career is in industrial design. The laptop works perfectly with all the CAD programs. Both will work really well, it just come down to preference.

We all know Apple charges more for the same specs, but come on, by equating the price, you aren't making much sense because people buy Macbooks (especially Macbook Pros) and pay the Apple tax for things that can't be done on Windows, like iOS development and Final Cut Pro.
The correct comparison would be to compare the same generation models with the same specs. The Macbook Pro with the Huawei's specs will be much more expensive, at around $2200, but at least then you're comparing similarly powered devices.
If your point was to show that Apple charges more for the same specs, I'm sorry, but we didn't need a video for that. Everyone knows that. I came here to see if the Matebook was a truly better machine than the MBP at the same specs(can you blame me with that title?!) but was instead disappointed because you chose to equate the price first and then gave us a skewed comparison that doesn't add any value for most viewers, as we know about the Apple tax already.
THIS VIDEO ISN'T THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN BETWEEN THE MATEBOOK AND THE MAC. IT'S JUST A COMMENTARY ON THE APPLE TAX. The ultimate showdown would be pitting fully specced out 2018 versions of both machines against each other. Now that I'd love to see.

Well you need to realise for 95% of people. The one and overruling thing that people equate between Device X and Device Y is price. I go to the shop, i compare the prices of this to that. Its as simple as that. I ask myself can this do what that can does, yes or no? Then what is the price.

If you're buying a Macbook Pro, you know that you'll have to pay extra for the same specs. It's not news to anyone. So the only kinds of people who buy Macbook Pros are either those who have too much money and want the brand or have a use case that requires macOS. If you're the first kind, it doesn't matter to you that the Macbook is more expensive for the same specs (or has poorer specs for the same price). If you're the second kind, it still doesn't matter tk you that Huawei is better value for money. That's why Macbooks sell.
All I'm saying is that by equating the price, you're making the comparison unfair because the Huawei has way better specs and a newer processor as it's a generation newer.
@@supaahflyy yes, price is a factor in getting a device. But most pro users will wait some time, save up more, and improve their budgets to get the similarly specced Mac instead of the Huawei. Because the MBP is a better choice for all 'pro' work with better software evelopment software and film editing software available on the macOS platform.
If price is your #1 factor in buying a machine, my friend, chances are you're not a pro user anyway.

Well, statistically macbook’s remain the most reliable laptop.
Also keep in mind the most publicized issues (like the keyboard) are both, statistically overstated (failure rate is lower than the old one...) but also, Apple added extra warranty to them.

Apple has always been particularly nice in this area, whenever people get all upset they do something like this. Doesn't mean the issue is all that widespread for them... Ultimately I haven't seen the issue in my country at all..

People have to understand that although macs don’t always offer the best numbers in performance, their performance is enhanced by a much more stable software that is easier to use, more intuitive and simply better, not mentioning the fact that due to its stability you can use a mac efficiently for 5+ years, i would like to see what windows computer is not completely useless or dead slow in that time

It's a great deal, I'd personally prefer it over the MacBook because I'm already comfortable with the OS (Win 10), but occasionally change to Mac. The touchscreen is what had me choosing the MateBook over the Macbook.
@@tavisr I am in doubt again now because of chances that microsoft won't send out updates to huawei laptops anymore, so I will wait for that. But once we get a clear answer on if that will happen or not, i will buy it (again)! I had this laptop before, but i wanted to check out the dell XPS 13 9380 model, since it has a newer CPU. I liked the Huawei better since it has such a beautiful screen compared to the Dell (which isn't bad at all either, just different)

I had the matebook Pro, and now I don't.
Pros
- Amazing screen
- Superb battery life
- Really nice keyboard
- Great speakers
Cons:
- Screen hinge became loose
- Screen wobble really annoying
- Couple of keys did stick
- Track pad rattles and is annoying
Due to the hinge problem, I claimed on my insurance for a repair. They wrote it off and paid out for a new laptop! So I've gone back to my 2011 macbook air which I've found really enjoyable to use and keeping until I decide what to spend on next. But although I did like the matebook Pro, I won't buy another.

Im planning to buy a MacBook pro that I'll be using as a DevOps. So i need much power to open multiple VM's, browsers, and IDE.
Im came from Linux OS. I love that Mac OS is unix based so i'd still get the same feeling of working in a unix environment.
However, the price is the real deal breaker for me. You can get so much performance in a Huawei matebook pro with less than the price of an entry level MacBook pro.
Plus the design is the same, so I'm good with matebook being inspired to MacBook Design.
I can just install Linux in one of those matebook. And do my thing as a developer.
He didnt mention about Huawei ecosystem, if you own a Huawei phone, definitely you should get Matebook.

You aren't comparing the 2019 Matebook X Pro, you are talking about the same 2018. The 2018 is the one on sale, the 2019 is still $1499 and just came out and has slightly better specs.

MacBook Pro uses macOS so it's more reliable than Windows 10. Less issues to deal with and more simple. As long as AutoCad supports it. -Vadim
I am using the MateBook X Pro and my career is in industrial design. The laptop works perfectly with all the CAD programs. Both will work really well, it just come down to preference.
