If you are looking for what's dragging Nigeria backwards, this is it right here. I keep saying this, Nigeria needs to break up to give people the opportunity to go and mind their own affairs. It's simple.
This is not just an unconstitutional development but also highly discriminatory and revealing of the motives of both the mover of this bill and those who shamelessly supports it or stay calm in the face of this criminal affront to impose preference to Islam within our constitution. The reference of the bills that allowed for the creation of the sited banks, suggests that a mistake that should not have happened, which is now forming a basis for further deviation from the constitution. As a Christian Nigerian, I already feel violated and offended by the mere suggestion of this motion, and by those who either deliberately or unwittingly support this.
The bill they should be considering is to make it mandatory that all Nigerian school age children between 6 and 18 years old should be in class, during school hours. And provide the resources to subsidize the education of the children.
I'm glad that you, as a Muslim, don't agree to it. I certainly do not agree to it either. But I'll like you to know that Islam agreed to it and even worse. I can tell you more with scriptural reference if you want
I ask one more time must Nigeria be one, one thing is for sure southern politicians do not really understand where this dudes from the north are heading to .
Firstly, removing the term "Personal" as provided by the constitution automatically makes it "General." Universally, anything with a religious tag or connotation cannot be general but personal (even in religious states, let alone secular ones). "Personal," as used in this context in the Nigerian constitution, is very significant, as it ensures that religious laws do not extend their jurisdiction to criminal matters or apply to members of other religions. Otherwise, Islamic commercial law, like "Halal," if enshrined in the Nigerian constitution, would imply that business activities and investments must involve lawful (halal) products and services. This would mean that activities such as alcohol production, gambling, and pork-related businesses would automatically be forbidden in the Nigerian state. (This is just the tip of the iceberg-many other rules would be imposed on Nigerians, effectively turning the country into an Islamic state if this bill is passed into law.) Secondly, redefining a concept is not different from expanding it, which historically and evidently leads to exceeding its original boundaries, scope, or jurisdiction. For example, Islamic law was traditionally regarded as part of customary law in Nigeria, but after it was redefined and supported by judicial rulings, such as the 1998 Alkamawa v. Bello case, it became recognized as a distinct legal framework. This shift has continued to place unnecessary pressure and create overlaps between Sharia laws and federal constitutional principles, particularly in Sections 275 to 279 of the 1999 Constitution. These sections do not explicitly extend the jurisdiction of Sharia courts to criminal matters but only authorize them to adjudicate civil cases involving Islamic personal law-such as marriage, inheritance, and guardianship-at the state level. Thirdly, the urgency displayed by the proponents of this bill (who are evidently all Muslims) to push it through a second reading is both suspicious and disheartening. It is suspicious not only because it is supported solely by Muslim lawmakers, but also because these lawmakers seem to resist allowing the bill to be thoroughly studied by their colleagues, avoid further consultations, and oppose any committee review before the second hearing. It is disheartening because, amid one of the most challenging periods in Nigeria's history, this is what some lawmakers have chosen to prioritize and sponsor. SMH. 🤦🏿🤦🏿♀️🤦🏿♂️ May God continue to empower, sustain, and protect His children in this selfish and evil world. Amen. 🙏🏾
The show of balance, simplicity and intelligence in this comment exposes the need for sound minds like you at the helm of national affairs. Nice one bro If only our country provided realistic and practical platform that scores raw intellect in determining how leaders are chosen over such a large nation as ours - Nigeria would have been classed as a developed nation by now
Absolute nonsense. Their cow brain won't allow them to think properly. Christians law makers in the house should also sponsor a bill that allows Christians to preach freely in the north without being attacked.
You have no right to pass any bill without the committee's scrutiny. How on earth can you pass a law and then send it to the committee for dissection after passing. It is so so wrong and senseless. Nobody can Christianize or islamize Nigeria even in the next 100 years. Nobody can succeed in doing that.

There shouldn't be any form of preference given to any particular religion. Freedom of worship should be very much respected. I don't see a reason why particular consideration be given to a particular religion at the Green Chamber. Nigeria is not an Islamic state, I personally know that respecting everyone's choice of religion is part of what encourages peace and coexistence.
Are these people truly representing their people or themselves? People are hungry, yet they are all out to create more problems in the Country. God, show us mercy.
The man from Kogi spoke rationally and objective. I like that. Show us facts we can compare with this bill you are proposing we pass, lets come back to debate
If House of reps bill readings were treated more seriously like Project defense or proposal, we would not have the kind of laws we have today in Nigeria
The fact that Islamic law is even encoded in the 1999 constitution is a problem that is strong enough to determine whether Nigeria will continue to be one as it is or not, let alone sitting down to talk about an amendment. We need to renegotiate the existence of Nigeria as it is: Let us Restructure Nigeria.
This guys are not serious , i pity the common Nigerians, can you imagine the kinds of visionless leaders we have . With the level of hunger and insecurity in the land they are not passing bills to meet the basic needs of Nigerians, its a shame , no hope for the nation

Hatred for Nigeria unites you. Wasn't the Igbo man who rejected the right to break away from being inserted in the Independence constitution? And another brought in unitary system of government
This is one the reasons why people elected to represent us should always attend plenary. The northers are pushing for one common interest while southerners are in their houses.
I can't even believe this is a discussion. Why is anyone not saying the bills should be thrown away. Is that a house rule to be polite? None of those northern people supporting the bill make sense

Hon.from Niger State, pls, seat down. Your people did not send you to go and isamize Nigeria.
If he is from the North you can be sure his people will greatly rejoice and thank him when they islamize Nigeria and make proselyte for Islam. They are all the same and stand behind one another whenever Islam is involved whether for good or bad. His people will even applaud him for islamising Nigeria.
Even the state is not supposed to consider it at all, Nigeria is not owned by Muslim. That's exactly what cause the sharia fight in Kaduna 1999.
Look at somalia, look at the Sudan's, the moment this Islamization nonsense starts, nations fall.
The bill they should be considering is to make it mandatory that all Nigerian school age children between 6 and 18 years old should be in class, during school hours. And provide the resources to subsidize the education of the children.
I am a muslim and i don’t agree that this should be a ground for the assembly to deliberate on. There is no compulsion in Religion
First person to be fair in this comment section
Go and learn about the religion first
Exactly
Thank you
I'm glad that you, as a Muslim, don't agree to it. I certainly do not agree to it either. But I'll like you to know that Islam agreed to it and even worse. I can tell you more with scriptural reference if you want
I ask one more time must Nigeria be one, one thing is for sure southern politicians do not really understand where this dudes from the north are heading to .
Let devide the country and every body should practice his own faith
@@abubakarnmusa7068 seconded!!!

There will not be a biafra, there will not be a muslim nation.
Y'all are hilarious.
Initially I was against division in this country but I think it high time we go our separate ways.
Gbam
I’m a southern Christian and I want this bill to pass.
I know why.
It’s will be the final nail to the coffin called Nigeria.
@@enixword2637 it will never be passed if they try then it will be the end of Nigeria
Story! All of you are funny. The bill will pass. Nigeria will remain one. And you guys can't do nothing about anything.
@@chidic.ifeachor7301 lets wait and see how the igbos take it
Take your Islamic Republic to your state
Firstly, removing the term "Personal" as provided by the constitution automatically makes it "General." Universally, anything with a religious tag or connotation cannot be general but personal (even in religious states, let alone secular ones). (This is just the tip of the iceberg-many other rules would be imposed on Nigerians, effectively turning the country into an Islamic state if this bill is passed into law.)
Secondly, redefining a concept is not different from expanding it, which historically and evidently leads to exceeding its original boundaries, scope, or jurisdiction.
SMH. 🤦🏿🤦🏿♀️🤦🏿♂️
May God continue to empower, sustain, and protect His children in this selfish and evil world. Amen. 🙏🏾
The best comment so far ✅
You are absolutely right, the haste and fierceness with which they are pushing the bill is suspect. Christians wake up from slumber!
The show of balance, simplicity and intelligence in this comment exposes the need for sound minds like you at the helm of national affairs.
Nice one bro
If only our country provided realistic and practical platform that scores raw intellect in determining how leaders are chosen over such a large nation as ours - Nigeria would have been classed as a developed nation by now
Why is he angry. There's no section of the country that is greater than another. Can you imagine the nonsense
Absolute nonsense. Their cow brain won't allow them to think properly. Christians law makers in the house should also sponsor a bill that allows Christians to preach freely in the north without being attacked.
when they say the Muslim Muslim ticket is to promote islamization of Nigeria. now we can see them testing the water. small small na him dey start.
Tinubu is not who you think
You have no right to pass any bill without the committee's scrutiny. How on earth can you pass a law and then send it to the committee for dissection after passing. It is so so wrong and senseless. Nobody can Christianize or islamize Nigeria even in the next 100 years. Nobody can succeed in doing that.
They think they own Nigeria 🇳🇬. What kind of people think like this, which kind of religion?
Don't mind the bastard
That is how backward they are, there is something definitely hidden in it....why the hurry, why jump process....we all own Nigeria and if by any change I feel not safe....I will start pushing for separation
Nigerian FINANCIAL LAWS AREN'T ENOUGH FOR THE BUSINESS, COMPANY.... NORTHERN LEADERS UNA WELL DONE 😅😅😅😅😅....Now I see why the IGBOS WHAT CHOOSE TO LEAVE YOU
So they have more law for banking just for islam in Nigeria ? Omo this is serious
Kudos to Hon Gaza Jonathan Gbefwi, you have spoken very well,, May the lord continue to protect you sir
Why is this people bringing religion to this constitution, this will bring this country down,
is the country up before?
We get country before otilor
Nawah oooooo
The country is already down.
Country is already down
Why should the house always do something that will divide Nigerian, why can't they do what will put food on the table of people, good drinking water, avoidable education etc
Honorable Jokers 😂
Release MNK and divide this country please.
What are religious matters doing in the constitution of a circular nation? Remove every religious stuff from the constitution.
When you do that you will stop people from worshipping their lord and what do you think will happen (😂)
What nonsense
I can't even imagine this is what they are deliberating on Nigeria indeed.
It's so depressing listening to these yeye people
Hon. Gaza Jonathan Gbefwi. Very well spoken.
From Nassarawa right? That guy is very sound.
@@donvictor19 Yes.
We shall soon call him back, he's stupid and we are hearing what he is saying.
God bless you and give you boldness. And shield you from every attack phisical and spiritual in Jesus name. Amen
We need some explanation from Lord Luggard.how on earth did he do this, how!?
He used the two Abrahamic religions....
There are ways they can bring changes into the constitution not troo Sheria law.
Weldone Hon. Gaza
I'm absorbed in the exhibition of responsibilities by these honorable people unlike many other African Chambers that can be noisy during sessions.
I agree with your submission that Nigeria is a Secular State, that bill is not for the best interests of Nigeria
No state talkless of the country should practice Sharia.
Unah nuh fit promot bill of better life, see nonse weh unah dey bring come. Its clear that islam is a time bomb
Keep fighting brother and sister in Nigeria
Those sponsoring this bill are fools. Nigeria is not one. It should be restructured or divided. Let them practice their primitive laws
I don't think this should be a priority of the country, based on the current situation of Nigeria and Nigerians.
Breaking the country gradually. Could the Canon Law be equally enshrined in the constitution? Should we not be sensitive enough to issues of religion and tradition?
Dont they have Christians and traditional reps here who should also argue to establish their rights too..
Those you think are christians in Nigeria politics are not christians; they have deeply compromised
Nigeria is a circular nation
Secular
Joshua yunisa you need to thank Sammie for the correction
It's not circular. It's "secular".
circular cos we are always going round in circles, not moving forward
I totally agree with you. It's no longer Secular but Circular 😅😂😅
And what are the Christians members looking at? What stops them from putting up a counter bill representing the Christian faith too?
Compromise o my brother.
counter bill is no bill, it will be from the minority who are not as militant as their Muslim colleagues
The sponsors know what they're doing. It's to test the waters. And that is the ultimate goal.
God bless you House reps Gaza ❤️
What the igboman saw seating down some people will never see it even if they are on top of a tree
It's Niger Delta they are trying to capture
So Igbo man is superior to others ?
Hatred for Nigeria unites you. Wasn't the Igbo man who rejected the right to break away from being inserted in the Independence constitution? And another brought in unitary system of government
True talk
People died for Ojokwu
But he could not die for his people, so the man fled. His motion was correct, but Ojokwu na caward
We're a problem to ourselves in this country.
Islam is the main problem Nigeria faces, every other national problem ca be traced that
Please everything religion Islamic or Christianity should ve removed ... even sharia courts has to be reviewed...
Exactly
Sharia law or courts should.not be in Nigeria.
Is that a form of hatred or what? I hope your humanity has not failed to realize that Muslims are not inferior to anyone in Nigeria
It is a just pity, Nigeria is galloping in darkness because of some few people.
Nigeria supposed to have been break by now
Yasssss. But it must take place one day. .
It seems all theses northern representatives have taken ogogoro, they don't know the meaning of being a circular state
The house is devided already
This is one the reasons why people elected to represent us should always attend plenary. The northers are pushing for one common interest while southerners are in their houses.
Reverse will be the case if it were to be a Christian law they want to pass.
We don't need the bill, leave us alone with your bill.
The bill should step down for ever
I can't even believe this is a discussion. Why is anyone not saying the bills should be thrown away.
Is that a house rule to be polite?
None of those northern people supporting the bill make sense
Nowhere, that Bill should not fly. It is evil. Nooooooooooo
Hon. Bamidele Salami sir
It’s time for the southern states to come together and leave Nigeria, the East Biafra nation and the West[ Oduduwa nation. These nonsense needs to stop. We can’t continue to feed the lazy northerners.
Bless you. Time after time religion. We Want to move forward
They are parasites ,let's come together as one ,And declare SOUTHERN NIGERIA let them go to there sahel and practice there sharia .
Southerners should break off,Northerners are moving Nigeria backward.
Yoruba nation if it comes, will soon become Nigeria twin sister as regards religious matters.
God bless you for this bill and for those who opposed this God will give you you the courage to opposed it to the fullest
You see why we have refuted the ticket of Muslim Muslim ticket. Let me warn the northern Muslim that faning this ember that will consume the mover of this bills, becarefull

This is madness. How can Nigeria stand this. We expect much from the elites of Nigeria.
