    Good instruction video but here's a shortcut. You don't have to remove the plastic crap underneath, just loosen the radiator plug and it will drain through a hole in the plastic. Also not necessary to drain from the engine block. Also not necessary to lower and raise the car again just to drain a tiny bit more. It's almost not even necessary to jack the car up if you know where the radiator plug is and are able to reach and loosen it. That's all just extra work that takes extra time to get the same result. There is only about a cup of old fluid in the engine after you drain the radiator and it will come out after you flush it with distilled water. I just flush one time, then refill with blue fluid, blue jug of Peak, I wouldn't mix it with anything other than blue. It will take almost the whole jug if you fill the tank to the max line and the radiator to the top. I don't worry about excess water in the system but I am in FL, ymmv.
    There's one more thing you can do, but again it's not actually necessary unless you want to. When you are draining it after the flush you can pour a gallon of distilled water through the top of the radiator so it will start draining out fresh and clear at the bottom before it's time to refill with fresh antifreeze.

      Ohh that's some great tips, thanks a lot. I'm planning on changing my coolant and was a bit annoyed at the prospect of all this jacking the car up and down to get to the petcock and so on. Then I read your comment, went out and had a good look under the hood. If I unclip a wire harness betweeen the battery and the radiator and move it out of the way a bit, I can reach down the radiator and open the drain valve, and there is indeed a hole in the dust flap underneath it, how billiant is that! There is really no need to even get the jack from the trunk lol.

    The engine was ticking loudly . The valves need adjustment. It is common in Hondas. A valve adjustment is very time consuming and involves removal of many parts to access the valves. Not an easy DIY, but can be done.

    Just buy two bottles of OEM Honda cooland and you'll be all set. Also, it is completely unnecessary to wash the coolant with water. Just drain it and refill.

      You're talking about a drain and refill. He was doing a flush to get more of the old antifreeze out of the system. If you really want to get it out, though, you'd have to go through several cycles of filling the radiator with water only, running the engine and draining the radiator. It's a long process and then you're left with several jugs of old antifreeze that nobody wants. A drain and refill is definitely easier and you're left with less waste.

      You have to wash out all remaining coolant which will be contaminated. You also have to drain the engine block otherwise you'll be mixing coolant with non dimineralised water which will contaminate and dilute the coolant.

    Engine block drain plug was moved from the front to the back of the block on 2011-2013 models so could be for this model as well.
    You need to use demineralised water.

    • @wb6csh
      @wb6csh 2 роки тому +1

      No, demineralized water is NOT as pure as distilled water. Most demineralized water is produced by reverse osmosis; does NOT produce a pure H2O like distillation.

    • @davidgpo
      @davidgpo  3 роки тому +1

      All the indicators should light up on the IP when you start the car. If the temp indicator turns on after all the others turns off it might be a bad temp sensor or it might be a bad or intermittent wiring connection. Did you scan the system for codes?

    Nice video but, just drain and refill. Putting the regular water in dilutes the 50/50 ratio. I'd only use Honda antifreeze. I change at 50k, as all the new antifreeze last longer nowadays. The Honda antifreeze is good for 60k or 5 years, from the container information.
