    Tired of watch channels reviewing these. Also that date window is an abomination.

      Hey Frisco, if you check back I was the first to review one of these. The first model. I know the guys who set up the brand so was happy to do this follow up review. The assemble the in venice beach about 45mins north of me.

    I love the brand. I really wanted to get one for Black Friday but even wtih the discount I've learned the import fees kill any potential benefits. I'd echo what you say about the guys being accessible, I've had some great email conversations with Ryan who seems really friendly and into providing not just a great product but a great service too. Once they get a UK distributor sorted I'm there!

      @CasualWatchReviews  5 років тому

      Yep they are very responsive and eager to learn from watch collectors as well as people in their target markets. I will ask them about their UK distributors next time I speak to then! Thanks Riff for supporting the channel with your comments and feedback!

      I really appreciate that you recognize our want to provide not only a great product, but also a great overall experience! Thus far, US demand has far outstripped our supply, so we haven't had the opportunity to really explore foreign distribution, though we're hoping to later this year.

    Very nice. I happened to notice the second hand hits the marks very nicely.

      surfitli - exactly, that is one of the telltale signs of a well assembled quartz watch.

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  5 років тому

      Yes I agree they have improved that. I struggle to find a quartz that hits the marks even that Hamilton I reviewed didnt!

      We appreciate the kind words! We also just produced a very nice write up around second hand alignment if you're interested journal.vaerwatches.com/watch-second-hand-not-aligned/

    Great review. I currently have a bigger field watch now that's higher priced. Love it a lot, but it's a tick too big@ 43mm. Really tempted by this VAER. Might have to get one on general principal alone after watching this video. On top of producing exactly the kind of watch I'm looking for, this is the kind of company I want to do business with.

    Love it,! it reminds me of watches from my youth that were not overtly sporty and yet could handle swimming one minute, going to work the next and put for dinner in the evening. This is what most of us had back in the seventies when watches were first and foremost a practical object rather than a hobby thing. Quartz is perfect for this sort of watch, no winding to worry about so you can not wear it for a while, pick it up and ready to go!

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  5 років тому

      Yes I totally agree a great grab and go watch with the added coolness for me that its made in LA!

    Enjoying your reviews. I'm not into quartz but if they came out with an automatic I'd be all over it.

      Yes I have been asking then about that even the first time I spoke with them. I will keep asking them unto they get annoyed and just make one!

    Hi Sam excellent review my friend and cool pieces I have no problem with quartz or micro brands but I think there’s better value around and the made in America like all things these days doesn’t mean quality so it’s probably a patriotic sales pitch. I think any Seiko in the $100 bracket wins hands down. Happy new year SAM take care. 👍🏻

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  5 років тому

      Hey Paul, yep I like the design of this but the coolness factor for me like you say is the fact it’s assembled in LA.

    • @VaerWatches
      @VaerWatches 5 років тому +1

      We appreciate that sentiment Paul! The "American Assembly" does definitely have a patriotic sales pitch components, but we wouldn't have done it if it didn't add inherent value to our product and company. Assembling here in the US gives us a much closer connection to the watch design, so we've been able to make improvements that we would have never imagined! If you're interested, we've actually just written an article that talks more about American Assembly. journal.vaerwatches.com/american-assembly-vs-american-made/ ryan@vaerdesign.com

    Field watch is nice value for money. Interesting brand story, as a Yank good to see them making a go of it here in the US. Happy Xmas/Boxing/New Year's Sam.

    Everyone is biased Sam, but I really like that you are honest about your bias (and I really do think they have a cool story). This is a very nice watch, I am not into quartz but I am impressed with what Vaer is doing. Thank you for another excellent review :)

      Thanks Jeffrey! Yes I like what they are doing here. I’m the same I’m a mechanical guy at heart but this would make a great gift. Or someone that os considering a Nixon or MVMT can get a watch assembled in the US.

    • @VaerWatches
      @VaerWatches 5 років тому +1

      We appreciate the kind words Jeffrey! While we love automatic watches (and we're in the process of designing one), quartz watches have their place in a watch owner's life. Reliable, simple, and accurate - sometimes you want a watch that you can set down for a week and still pick back up with the correct time.

    Not bad at all. I like the story too. I have a Timex field watch that looks similar for much less although I’m sure the build quality is better with Vaer.

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  5 років тому

      Yes I think they have a really solid watch here Tod. They have them assembled in LA and shipped put so I imagine the costs must be high for even that part.

      The Casual Watch Reviewer , I’m thinking too that I like Citizen Ecodrive or Bulova for a strong quartz option.

      We do absolutely intend on releasing an automatic watch as well - we're currently spending a lot of time in design. The watch will have domed sapphire, 100m water resistance, exhibition caseback, and options of either Japanese or Swiss automatic movement. We're shooting to release this in the spring! If you'd like, you can sign up for our newsletter at the bottom of our site - we'll be sending more info there www.vaerwatches.com
      Let me know if you have any questions - it's going to be an incredible watch, and we're trying to gain user feedback as we develop it.
      Thank you,
      Ryan

      Hey Craig, It is certainly a more simple dial, still has a lot more added detail than its ‘Classic’ big brother! Thanks for all the comments this year Craig. Have a nice Xmas!
