Ren who actually had Lyme disease, was misdiagnosed as being bipolar for a few years, so they kept mistreating him with medications that weren’t helping and he kept feeling worse. He wrote this to express the frustration he was feeling at that time. Ren was signed by Sony, but was dropped when he started to feel more sick. He’s been independent since then.
Still has Lyme's disease, he's in Canada for treatment for it now. He recorded these newer songs so we had content while he was away

Yeah you were right about the doctors words being drowned out to depict in one ear and out the other.
He was bitten by a tick and contracted Lyme disease that got misdiagnosed for years and he's in Canada now to concentrate on healing with a doctor he has entrusted to try to heal him.
He has several songs dealing with mental health and his situation, but there's a lot of variety as well with other topics and styles, so it's not the only thing he focuses on.

I have been watching Ren performing live for seven years and it is great that he is finally going global.
Another great thing about his music is that it is encouraging other people to discuss and share their own mental health issues. The stigma is melting, slowly but surely.

Sick boi, bitten by a tic boy. Ren was bitten by a tic and got Lyme disease. [EDIT] There is a cure since it is a bacterial infection, however, left untreated and long term there is only pain and suffering, flare ups and remissions. Ren does much more happy songs like 'Losing It', 'Old School Song' and 'Bittersweet Symphony'. There are provacative songs like 'Money Game I and II'. There is an amazing self-affirmation in 'Power'. Then total rabbit hole with reference to Orwell books in 'Animal Flow'.
Agree that the loud music is on purpose. When you're suffering with mental health issues, it can be difficult to concentrate on others' words when so much is going on in your head. It’s especially aggravating when your prior experience leads you to anticipate a bunch of mumbo-jumbo from someone who may want to "treat" you, but not really "heal" you.

I like the alternate explanation of "bitten by a tick, boy" and the muted speaking of the woman, especially when paired with his feeling of drowning on his feet.
These tracks all relate but he does other stuff, Dominoes, The hunger, Losing it Fisher reatke is great fun. Chalk outlines relates to Hi ren with Chinchilla, where we get to hear his vocals.
Funny...I've listened to Sick Boi and the reactions to it hundreds of times and it had never registered with me that the first thing she said was 'Hi Ren'...good catch!

His Lyme Disease was misdiagnosed for 7-+ years which took a role on his brain and body. He was treated for many things he did not have and ended ups ring told it was in his head- he suffered with stress psychosis fatigue nerve damage- he’s been bed bound 23 hr /day- placed on life support- given stem cell treatment His health ebbs and flows. Now he is in Canada getting experimental treatment for a demylenating autoimmune disease he has developed. Sony dropped him while he was I’ll. He is now independent and an advocate for the chronically ill.

You got it right, the music at the start, was 'his' distraction and not really "hearing" her or absorbing her words, his mind was in and out. That's my take anyway. It did get better, short song, his issues and his lyrics here somehow didn't seem to match up, but it's not for me to determine that or what his intention was. It just shows what was on his mind at that time.
I've seen somewhere that he said a lot of this is what he wished he could have said instead of just agreeing with treatment after treatment. When you get told all the time it's in your head, you start to believe it. You start just agreeing with whatever the Dr's say and stop sticking up for yourself. Because when you do, they tell you you're crazy
