Thank you Vino for posting this video. I love it, entertaining and insightful, wonderful. Happy travels Vino. Be safe, healthy and happy. God bless you. Be well.
That was a lot of fun to watch! Maybe a video going through your personal wine collection sometime and some of your favorite bottles you're holding on to would be fun. Keep up the good work!
Right down the road, literally a mile or less from Barboursville Vineyard (love the Octagon), is Horton Vineyard. Dennis Horton is accredited for bringing the Norton grape back to Virginia in 1992 and producing the first commercial wine since prohibition. They also do my favorite Viognier!! Great place to visit.
Vince really enjoyed this episode. You talked about doing an episode on hybrid grapes and off-the-wall locations. I have something for you to consider, an episode in MN. You would satisfy both goals in one episode. The University of MN is world-renowned for its cold climate grape breeding, and it would be fascinating to learn how they create these new grapes and how long it takes. Plus, MN has a young but growing wine industry which would also be interesting to investigate - in my opinion :). Love your show
Hey Vince, massive fan here! Would be interested in doing a wine dinner/event here in London? i'm sure you have many followers here where we have more and more wine enthusiasts. Hope you could do English wines (particularly sparkling wines) and visit some of our amazing vineyards! And would be really cool to meet you if you ever have an event/show in London! It's so fun watching all your eps as it's so easy to understand (i love your NerdLab section!). Thank you for sharing us your knowledge, keep making wine videos, you and your team are awesome!
I’d buy a ticket to a wine dinner. Come on down to SE Florida, maybe Palm Beach. I’m sure you’d have no problem finding a restaurant that would love the experience and the exposure.
Great video as always. Top tier🙌Maybe in future episodes also check out Austria. Went to a tasting with only Austrian wines from Johanneshof Reinisch and one of sons presented the wines. Just amazing 👌🍷
I found your site and videos, looking for info for our local wine group. Love it. And so does our group. So informative, interesting and personal. Going to join the VIP so I can get even more. Many thanks 👍🍷‼️
A question for next time: what do you think of blends that include 5+ types of grapes. Seems like they all couldn't be significantly contributing to the taste.
Vince, that was awesome! I thoroughly enjoyed the questions and your answers. I was super fun. We also LOVED your Virginia episode! We live in Northern Virginia and we have visited a large number of wineries around the state. You totally nailed it! All of your food and wine choices were perfect. Also, really happy to hear about Michigan and Texas down the road and looking forward to Chile. Thanks!
about wine faults, in january i had a red wine (mulderbosch faithful hound red blend 2019) and it was SOOOOOOOO sour, it literally felt like i was eating a warhead or something and i feel like there was no way it could be intentional. i tried it again the next day in hopes exposure to air would soften it a bit but it was still there. none of the reviews i read brought this up, so i don't think it was the wine itself, but when i googled common wine faults i didn't think any of them could be causing this sourness. do you know of any faults that could cause this?
Ahh, so that could be oxidative as well, which can lead to vinegar flavors. It also could be “volatile acidity”. That is very common these days in poorly produced natural wines. But that’s something that affects every bottle, not just one, so it’s weird no one else would mention it…
So, I was in Kazahstan recently and had a bottle of blended Pinot Noir.. It was basically PN(31%), Saperavi(24%), Cabernet Franc(23%), Merlot(13%), Malbec(9%). I think it was called Assa Valley Almaty

Great idea!
Agreed. That would be very cool to see.
These always help me out with my wine knowledge! Glad others have the same ponderings! Thanks Vince!

Ooo, I'll have to visit next time for sure!
Fun as always. There are a couple of producers in the Los Olivos area producing single varietals Petit Verdot.

Always GREAT Information Vince!
Appreciate it!
I tried a Lambrusco called Under the Tuscan Sun from NC which is the smoothest red wine I have ever tried

Caren, I would definitely try and do a meetup if we came to London! I've actually been pitching a UK episode, I hope I can make it happen soon!
Another idea for a domestic episode: Vermont! Some super exciting stuff going up there with La Garagista, Kalche Wine, Stella14, and Ellison Estate.
Great call! Will have to keep in mind!

For sure, I think it would be a fun tour!!
Resistance was futile. Finally a Vino VIP member!
So happy to have you on board!
you're inspired man
Never found a white wine I love. I like Grenache Blanc but nothing as much as red wine
Try some good Chenin from Loire Valley. Huet is a good start, and Joly is even better. it's a red wine lovers white wine.
Avaline had a Grenache Blanc that was so good. I wish they would bring it back
Would love to see you do a rioja segment
Rioja is on the schedule for 2024! 👍👍
Nice episode, looking forward to your new winery visit
Man you a real one, Vince! So cool 😎 Keep up the amazing work 👌🏻🍷
This was great! Love the format and we always learn a lot! 👍🏻 🍷
When you go to Texas, make sure to try some Tannat! It does very well in Texas climate. It pairs very well with Texas BBQ!
Oh, nice tip!!
Did you know Tidal Bay in Nova Scotia, Canada is the first appellation in North America!!
You should do a episode here:)
Daniele
Didn't know that!
you should do an episode in Austria in for example the Wachau or the Südsteirische Weinstraße
Austria is super high on the list for sure!
Somewhere tropical? Come to Brazil. Southern Brazil has a strong wine culture and some very good wineries
I’m hoping for a Brazil episode soon: lots of people have been telling me about the wineries there!

Oh yeah, Austria is FOR SURE on the list!
I love tannins
Vince, Madiran is the region where Tannat originated.
Good call!
Sounds like south Africa could be a contender for your vacation, even though you don't mix work and play.
South Africa is 100% a candidate for an episode soon!

Thanks Jim, excited to have you as a VIP!
Have you done a video on granach?
Not yet! Will have to do it in Spain someday!
Many producers in Paso Robles doing Tannat!
Nice! I’ll have to find some and try it out. Definitely hot enough there for it to ripen properly.
@@visforvino Tablas Creek does one in addition to many others!

If you do film a TX episode please have a meetup! I would love to meet you!
Oh for sure will do a meetup if we do Texas!
We introduced our son in law lambrusco and he just took off and now loves all types of wine!
Oh, that’s a GREAT intro wine; good call!
Great job, Vince! Really appreciate the video...
Thanks Quincy!

@@visforvino i think you're right the more that i'm looking into it. but it smelled completely fine which was the weird part.
What is the best way to store a half consumed bottle of good red wine?
We actually made a video about this! ua-cam.com/video/vTfnTVfPfQU/v-deo.html
