as a plant enthusiast, botany student, and J&J lover: This is my favorite podcast ever. Jenna is so cute about her plants. My cat LOVES all my plants! Especially my peace lilies, which are the only toxic ones I have. I had to adopt them out to my mom because my cat and my lilies were killing one another slowly.... Best of luck with the plants, jenna!
Jenna is the reason I own plants at all. I never understood the appeal of spending so much time and energy caring for something that just sits there like decoration until I watched Jenna's plant tour and saw how excited she was about their appearances and how much life they bring to a space. I started out with a catnip plant and some dwarf zebra grass for my cats to nibble on and now I own around 20 plants (all safe for cats because no matter where I put them they find a way to chomp on them). they're also a great way to connect with people - I have autism and find it difficult to have conversations with people I don't know well, but I've found that people with plants love talking about their plants and hearing about other people's plants. so thank you Jenna - my cats are happier and I love how green my space is ❤ ps Jenna said she loves hoyas and I do have one hoya but my personal favorite are sedums. they're cat-safe, don't require a ton of watering, and tolerate a range of temperatures, which is great when you live in new england. Julien's burro's-tail is a sedum (sedum morganianum)! mine is smaller than Julien's but I can see why he likes it so much
I cant tell if the preparation is as a result of the fishies video, but either way the way jenna handles and learns from her past is inspiring, she cares so much about all of her projects and her doggos and I love her for it! Also can we have another debbie machine vid pls :)
As someone who’s developed an obsession for house plants and growing anything these past 2 years.. seeing my favorite UA-camr sharing her love and growing collection of plants, makes my heart SO HAPPY
Jenna! i took a plant ID class last semester in college and we had a textbook listing all the native plants for the midwest (where i live) you should look up a textbook that has californias native plants. it would be really helpful and show the genus and species and family and charactetistics and how to care for it! you should find one thats specific for house plants!
I’ve been a plant lady for about a year now and I‘ve reached the point where I can keep a mimosa alive (which seemed impossible to me the first time I bought one, which unfortunately died 3 days after I got it). So glad you‘re a plant lady too, Jenna. It‘s so much fun!
i lived in the Philippines for from birth til i was 14 (19 now), and i never really realized how beautiful all of the plants in my family home’s garden is. I had a 10x5 section and i grew plants from seeds or marcotting. The colors purple, yellow, orange, pink, red, blue, and green leaves were just normal to me. I moved to LA and it is so..... brown. lol. Jenna reminded me how breath-taking my tropical garden is. I almost forgot about it because of how dead California valleys are. Love this video, Jenna! I really hope you get a Jasminum Sambac or Sampaguita plant. the smell of their flowers are A M A Z I N G.
Wanna know what true love is? Julien letting Jenna talk about her plants for an entire hour, pretending to be somewhat interested. THAT RIGHT THERE IS TRUE LOVE, FOLKS! 😍❤️
Just finished listening to this podcast and I have never heard anything more ME in my life 😂 recently bought my first home with my bf of 9 years, have now lived there for just over a year and I have 8 wonderful plant babies in my lounge room that I am loving looking after/learning about (can’t fit anymore until I can furnish/renovate the gaming room/kitchen haha then I’m sure they will be full of plants too) I have seriously gone on the same journey as you, Jenna and it’s the best thing ever!! Love a 27yr old lady living her best plant and dog mum life 😂 I can’t WAIT for a plant tour one day!!
I've always loved plants, before I was 8 aloe became the very first plant I fell in love with. I had some cacti here and there, grew peppers for a few summers. When this podcast and then Jenna's plant tour came out I knew I was going to get plants as soon as I could. 2020 hit and I got my first job in May. I think I had about 10 plants by the end of the month. Flash forward to now- I have over 550 plants, 2 humidifiers, 4 floor shelves, 2 floating shelves, 9 grow lights and a grow tent in my little bedroom. Jenna was not joking that plant collecting can get out of hand very quickly.
@@aina3387 I've been looking at aquatic plants as well. Wanting to have either an aquarium or desktop pond w/ a beta. I'm trying to not kill my office plants 1st before I venture into water plants & fish. I've got a lot to learn still.
My plants are so important to me, my grandmother and mother have both taught me about nature and the garden so it’s just so special when we all talk about our plants and how to care for them and it’s just something we bond over and I will pass onto my children and grandchildren ♥️💞
I don't know what happened. But when i turned 30 plants became like a direct need for me. I now live in a small jungle and I LOVE IT. I recently found a 5 foot Peace Lily for my house and its been amazing to have. My first experience with plants didn't go well. I fell in love with the wandering jew plant. Some versions of them have fatter dark purple leaves with tiny pink buds. To this day its my favorite plant. I however have now killed so many of them i have banned my self from buying them. Silver satin pothos have become one of my favorite plants. My Monstera is my pride and joy. Love the new journey you are on!!!!

jenna is literally the most wholesome person in the world i really look up to her so much. also looking forward to the plant tour and meeting all 50+ plants 🌱 ❤️
In the last year, I've also acquired 40+ plants. At first, it was because I found NASA's list of air purifying plants, and wanted to try purifying the air in my home. Then it was when I was having a bad day i'd go plant shopping and bring a little friend home. Now it's become an obsession and I have to try really hard not to buy more when I'm out and about...It truly is a dangerous hobby in the sense of it's easy to fall down the rabbit hole of plants.
At least you're not shopping for clothes or shoes 🤷♀️ My mom would have a jungle in our living room when I was growing up, I hated it and never wanted plants because she made me water them as a chore but now that I live on my own, I've actually started enjoying them again, but just the ones that are easy to care for lol

Yes 😩 every time she has a new interest he ALWAYS know almost as much as Jenna does!
More like tolerating. 😂

Hey I found a Columnea Gloriosa Purpurea in a little plant shop in Sacramento if you are still searching for one!!
OMG JENNA I HAVE ONE OF THOSE RARE PLANTS! But mine is green nor purple. It took us months to figure out what it was. It's stunning and the flowers can last for weeks. Super easy to reproduce and grows quickly. I have some cuttings who started to grow some roots and leaves right now!!!!

as a plant enthusiast, botany student, and J&J lover: This is my favorite podcast ever.

Julien's burro's-tail is a sedum (sedum morganianum)! mine is smaller than Julien's but I can see why he likes it so much
When he said the pillow was breathable, I thought he was gonna do another MeUndies sponsor.
Ya gotta keep your eyes peeled for Juliens segues
Me too! I think he was gunna but when jenna was like "Ok Julien 🙄" he knew she caught on so he decided to wait to catch her off guard lol
Wahh me too😆
you can see the light show up in his eyes at 12:06 when he gets the idea 😂😂
I cant tell if the preparation is as a result of the fishies video, but either way the way jenna handles and learns from her past is inspiring, she cares so much about all of her projects and her doggos and I love her for it!
Also can we have another debbie machine vid pls :)
The "rabbit hole". Jenna, you just described my life. I have almost 100 houseplants. I started a year and a half ago. They are like Pokemon.
Dude, I'd live for a plant tour from Jenna!
you know they had to do it to us
Just waiting for the next few videos "I buy anything my plants touch"
Rose precious 🤣🤣🤣
Lmao
"Transforming myself into my plant"
Julien just fuckin yeets a chrysanthemum at a new camera lens "Oh, guess we gotta get this now...." "JULIENUUUUHHHH"

Also April Fools Day is on a Monday this year. I have high expectations for the podcast, fam.
I have a plant problem. I have 7 plants in my office currently & I've only worked here a month.
Hahaha! It's ok, plants are cheap. I like aquatic plants, so I have three aquariums now and they are pricy!
@@aina3387 I've been looking at aquatic plants as well. Wanting to have either an aquarium or desktop pond w/ a beta. I'm trying to not kill my office plants 1st before I venture into water plants & fish. I've got a lot to learn still.
Parents talking about plants: omg i dont care

Love the new journey you are on!!!!
me and my 37 green children are so happy you guys are official plant parents now, the houseplant community is one of the best i've found on the internet and i *love* when people are really passionate about them too
You can truly see Jennas kind soul with the way she cares about not just animals but plants... there is so much concern and love in everything she does
This is the purest podcast you guys have ever made. The way Jenna personifies her plants makes my heart hurt 💝
There’s a botanical garden about 2 min from my house (I can actually see it while I’m typing this lol) and it has a bunch of Bird of Paradise Flowers ...they’re GAWGEOUS
I recently started collecting plants too and I'm struggling lol. Stupid root rot and soil mold. Plz make plant videos on your main channel 🌱💚
Ayeitscindy probably just over watering ♥️
Use your finger to feel 2 inches into the soil if it feels dry water then. Otherwise, dont be too eager to water unless it's a plant that specifically needs a lot. Make sure the soil drains well with perlite and peat moss.
As a adult who grew up with a Mom who is a horticulture biologist in Upstate NY...this podcast hit me in the nostalgia.
Honestly sameee! Except it was my godmother and I live in Michigan.
My grandma used to grow some plants in an indoor patio in upstate NY. I used to beg her to let me spray the plants.
@@HiClassHarlow It was always my job to water all the plants in the sunroom and I hated it. I go home now and my childhood bedroom has basically become a greenhouse 😂😂😂

PLEASE DO A PLANT BLOG!! I love plants but don't know where to start!! I am good with gardens but not with house plants!
maybe all those plants can help with cement's breathing,
And Julien's coughing!!
Just like a Cermet, plants need water to grooow 🌱

i think “wanna do a plant tour” is the most wholesome thing jenna has ever said. i also love how supportive julien is like it makes me so happy
Jenna is so fucking precious, like she just loves her plants so much and wants to take the best care of them.
Exactly how I ran into the hole as well.
I am so excited to hear about your growing plant collection! I can't wait to see what your planty-vision is!
Erika Schmoop ahhh thanks Erika!! I have learned a lot from you and your channel!!

Thanks so much btw for taking the time to reply & for shouting out to the plant community. Your videos have alwaaays been something I look forward to watching weekly, you're awesome. 💚 Hi to your pups from mine. 🙃
About a year ago I bought three succulents and planted them myself. I am a freshman in college now (living in a dorm) and I enjoy seeing some life in my particularly small shoebox of a room. I have now bought probably 1-2 dozen succulents, I give them to friends and I change them out every once in a while and replant them. They’re so low maintenance and your interest in other plants makes me eager to look for more new kinds!!
Jenna takes more care of her plants than some people do of their kids
