HEAR FROM THE UTES
Head Coach Lynne Roberts
Opening statements
"USC is tough. [JuJu] Watkins is scary. We knew we weren't going to shut her down but we've had to make her work for everything. They're a good team and well coached. When they pushed we answered. It was a physical game, Jenna Johnson ended up getting stitches again and we didn't have her the final minutes of the game. We had a few unlucky fouls but we battled. We knew we needed to get [Alissa] Pili the ball so she could battle. We made our free throws when we needed to. It was a great win, huge road win after Thursday's debacle."
On bouncing back after the UCLA loss
"It's late February. We know who we are. We know what makes us good and we know what makes us bad and we were really really bad on Thursday. As players they were frustrated. In this league anyone can beat anybody and we knew we needed to shine in this game. It was a regroup and take out our frustration on the USC.
#35 Alissa Pili, Forward
On satisfaction going to USC and performing well…
"There's a little bit of extra satisfaction with the win today. Especially with the whole crowd booing me when I was at the line, I got a little satisfaction making those."
On reflecting on career and determining if transferring was the best choice…
"I think everything worked out in my favor. USC is a great program and I have nothing but respect for all the coaches and players. But for me personally, I just wasn't in the right mindset to stay in a place where I had been comfortable in the environment. I think I needed to step out of my comfort zone a little bit to really push me to get to where I knew I could be."
On how the mindset switched following UCLA game earlier this week…
"I think we were tired. There's been a few games where we've had games like that. I think we're just sick and tired of short selling ourselves when we know the type of team that we can be. We're talking about it all the time but to actually put it to action and to put it to the test like that is a whole [different] thing. I think we did that today and it's going to be good moving forward."
Pili is a REAL Baller!
I like both teams, but don't sleep on Utah, been watching them build team chemistry all year..
Build chemistry all year? They just took a 30 point body slamming at UCLA a couple days ago. Where were you?
Juju fights to the end that’s my favorite thing about her game. Good win for UTAH!
I love personal games, pili plays with a chip against usc because she has something to prove after leaving.
I sometimes wonder what usc would be if pili didn’t transfer though, her and juju would’ve dominated.
being here live was awesome. great team win for Utah.👏
Good win by Utah they swept the season series against USC. This conference is the best in women's college basketball.
You can STOP that BEST conference in Women's Basketball CRAP! Just because your team got lucky and WON, does not make this the best Conference. What this Conference has is JuJu butting on a show. I love the Center for Utah though, she's a baller!
@@donaldwilson8163 who's my team??
Sorry to have to bring you news that you don't want to hear, but yes, the Pac-12 is the best conference in women's basketball.@@donaldwilson8163
the number 12 of USC i think forget that basketball is a team game when she has the ball she does'nt want to pass the ball to her teammates..crazy
I agree , a ball hog . Would hate to be her teammates
@@kelseyellison2919I’m pretty should you would hate, I can hear the hate in you.
The number 12, you’re funny. You’ll regret this comment later on.
Utah got away with so many fouls and traveling violations. Refs took the night off.
@@timlynch6271 Refs NEVER take the night off. They do what the league wants/ needs to make money. LeBron James: hold my beer!
Had ginna not gotten hurt , Utah was clearly my choice to be the best team this year in the conference.
Good ass game for real. Juju is not Jordan. Smart game play with Pili on the free throws. Utah as a team did the Job done, good call on young on juju, Utah point guard is a beast
USC guards 47 shots 11 assists in total. Juju 30 shots 5 dimes. Davis 6 for 6 in 27 minutes. Since Juju joined Davis has went down in scoring from 14 per to 6. Hidalgo for ROY not Juju.
Update: Juju swept all the national awards.
Great game! I have no idea what they're going to do with the rankings after this week.
Utah ,USC and Colorado win over each other and lose over each other
Utah 3-1 vs USC and Colorado
Zcxcxcxc
To be a ball hog and have low shooting percentage is crazy
Chill they are leaders you can live with that
Such a great game!
I don’t believe Utah will win it all, but I’m going to love to see them try.
Utah can't win it all long as their is a REAL USC! And I am not talking about the University of Southern Cal either! Regarding FOOTBALL, The University of Southern California is the REAL USC, but in Women's basketball! The University of South Carolina is the REAL USC!
@@donaldwilson8163 I’m a Gamecock fan so 🤭
Agreed, but with 4 top 10 wins on their resume, I would not want to be in their bracket. One of the few teams who had South Carolina sweating at the end of the 4th quarter.
without juju USC would be no where 😂near
