Roatan Shark Dive hi def

Shark Dive Cassie and I did with Anthony's Key Resort in March 2016. 15-20 Black Tip Reef Sharks all 5' - 7' long. One of the coolest dives I have been on.

Wow! Awesome!!!Thank you for sharing. I'm considering doing this dive... I hear that you can't bring a GoPro because the sharks like to bite them? that kinda freaks me out....I've heard that it's not a beginner dive too and I might have some beginners with me....any thoughts to share. Thanks!

You should definitely do the dive. Of course sharks are wild animals and can be unpredictable but on our dive, we were able to swim among them for a while before they let them get the chum bucket. None of the sharks were overly curious about any of the divers or their gear/cameras. You can see at least two people have their GoPro cameras and one other has a Sea Life camera. I was not told anything about not being able to bring your GoPro on the dive when we were there. I did choose to leave mine on the boat just because it was our first shark dive and I didn't want to be overloaded or distracted because I didn't know what to expect. The dive is not a difficult dive but I think like most sites there may be a stronger current on some days. You pretty much drop down to a wall of reef and kneel in front of it to see the sharks. If I remember correctly it was about 50-60 feet deep. I think the main reason it may not be for beginners is if they are not yet comfortable in the water and have good buoyancy that they may get overloaded with tasks and the sharks etc. You also don't want divers that are "swiming with their arms" or struggling with buoyancy and heading to the surface during a shark dive. lol As long as your beginner divers have the basic skills down and are comfortable they should be fine. Schedule the shark dive a few days after you arrive so they can get a few dives down and settle in before the shark dive. Let me know if you do it!
