Fall is definitely the best part of the year I just drove through Canada 🇨🇦 to Alaska my new home it was beautiful I’ve never been out of the states until now
Thanks for sharing! I know you are working with what is readily available to tow, but 5K is a pretty mild load for that setup - so would expect no issues. Since many commonly tow RVs or other heavier loads, I would like to see what happens with a 10-15K load if you get an opportunity...
Sick vid! Have a couple of built 4th gens also. Pretty wicked sound to uphill tow 10k pushing 100 miles an hour. Both water meth for cooling. 50psi on my big single truck and 80psi on the compound. Big single has a hood stack....... both have 100 over dynamite injectors. I should do a ride along one of these days in one of mine.
It’s been a longtime since I’ve driven a truck with a pyrometer, but when I did 1,000-1,100°F was getting very hot and meant it was time to back out of it. That was on an old CAT 3406C engine pulling 62,500kg through the mountains. On the flatlands the pyrometer never got over 800-900°F. So 1,000°F pulling a boat seems a rather hot.
I believe Cummins purposefully had the engine run high to meet emissions without having any kind of egr. I believe it was done by a later secondary injection a wide spray pattern.
I have 90horse BD injectors with efi live tuning and ever since I installed the 90horse I have white smoke at start up and way to much black smoke until the turbo spools up fast enough to clear it up not sure what to do so about to install an upgraded bud turbo and see if that helps. If that doesn’t help I may try to find someone else to tune the efi instead of the original guy that done it
I towed an hydraulic dump with 4 yards of sand. Truck and trailer was 19,900. Is that overweight for towing? I don’t know what my truck weighs. 2003 2500 CCSB SRW 5.9 HO with NV5600.
I know this video is a month old and I hope your respond, but I was just wondering if you had it in "TOW MODE" for your transmision when you was pulling your boat?
Nice truck and thanks for the share. I do have to ask why you are redlining your engine at every shift? 3,200 is redline on the factory Cummins. I have the G56 5.9 2006 HO and usually shift below 2,200. There is just not normally a reason to go much higher unless you have an extreme load on a climb. Here in Colorado, we have a few good climbs up to 11,000+ feet. Enjoy and again, thanks for the share.
I have a 6 speed manual and I’ve never ever turn over 25 and 90% of the time is at 2000 old retired car hauler and a old diesel mechanic told me there are two things that destroy a diesel and that is RPM and heat so there is no reason to turn that many rpm unless you are towing 40k.
Hey, what do you think if I trade my 2010 ram 1500 with 179300 km for a 2006 Cummins dually with 366,925km would it be a good deal? the truck looks amazing besides the rpm gauge not working and needs a new rear speed sensor. I'm also from Saskatchewan in Regina
@@darkirondiesel thanks. I just tried the diamond g56 oil from hotshot secret. Anything cooler temp wise it gets hard to shift. Unless you let the truck warmup for 10 minutes or more it’s a pain. Hey just had a quick question? Is it possible to fully delete a new diesel truck and have it not blow any black smoke if using the stock engine tune? Or is it the aggressive tune that makes it roll coal?
@@darkirondiesel there's a sticker on the sides of the axle, there's also a big sticker on one side its facing the front towards the wheel, the other two stickers are black/white and kinda wrap around they're on the ends right by the wheels. Hey I’ve never used one before but I just read up on it and it looks like a good cheap upgrade. Honestly the best way to keep a 68rfe to last long is driving habits in my opinion.
Great video brother! Are you running 37's and 342 axle ratio? My 4th gen is pretty much the same setup as yours and I'm debating on the BD injectors and screamer turbo but i may just re-gear the truck to 410's. I tow my junk from the coast of BC to Alberta all the time, ranging from 8000lbs to 10,000lbs. usually always sitting around 1000-1100 in 6th cruising on flatground doing 110-115. Up the Smasher it's a 10% grade for many kms. 4th gear and the hottest I've seen is 1450. cools down quick but still, feels like a more efficient turbo would help that a lot or re-gear. We should meet up and do a comparison. Gears vs Turbo/Injectors. I could tow out my bush truck. It's pretty now. Crewcab S10 on super duty diffs with 40's and coilovers, estimated 6000lbs plus my 2000lbs trailer.

Since throwing in the 90hp sticks, have you seen anything that would warrant an upgraded CP3 and/or lift pump?
