I read a ballad of song bird and snakes by Susan Collins. The main character is named Lucy gray after this poem. I’m not sure if people have really dug deep to see what the poem meant for that character but it is really fascinating to see. Thank you for some clarity and helping kind of see how that plays into that character!

I read the poems a few times... Is it possible do you think for an interpretation which involves her having been dead the entire time? One in which the speaker has fallen in love, not with Lucy, but with her grave and her imagined being? With that in mind "Strange fits of Passion" reads much differently but still makes sense, does it not?

Could Wordsworth be hinting at that when the speaker said "She lived unknown, and few could know when Lucy ceased to be"?
