I'm doing my final university project on the bacterial communities in the guts of Blowfly Maggots. I've only recently finished my experiments (running since October) and acquired my data. Soon, I'm gonna begin data analysis and, hopefully, my research will contribute to forensic entomology (using bacterial communities in the guts to determine time of death). Wish me luck!

Let's be very clear, though. One does not specialize in forensic entomology. Typically it will be someone who specializes in normal entomology. Typical jobs will be a teacher or entomologist who occasionally gets called upon for help with a death investigation. If you're interested in this field, take forensic science and entomology.
Source: I am in school for forensic science, took forensic entomology course. It is stressed that this is not a major.

Fun story: when I was about seven, I went to the grocery store and we bought some grapes. They came in a perforated plastic bag. I picked them up, put them in the cart, and bought the food. When we got home, mom washed the grapes in the sink while taking them out of the bag, out fell a black widow spider. Hourglass and all. Just scrambling around in the sink. Dad put it in a big jar but some water got in and I watched it slowly drown with morbid, childish fascination. Could have used a stored product etymologist, eh?
